If you found a way to watch it free, great. If you didn't watched it, great. If you paid for it, even greater. But if you didn't paid for it, watched it for free and then come to this thread with words like "OMG YOU WOULD SUPPORT SOPA ARENT YOU?" should frickin slapped in the face to wake him/her up if not too late.
MLG needs to make profit to maintain the level of show, if you dont agree with it, dont buy it, thats all. You could have watched another tournament that was going on. Free stuff is great, but stealing isn't. Theres a difference between them, and dont think you are a pirate just becouse you found a way to get something for free when it not ment to be.
And just for the record, no i didn't paid for it, nor i watched it. This SOPA shit people throwing around is more disgusting and retarded than the stupid "OMG THIS HURT ESPORTS" line You seem mad bro. Stupid people irritate me This kind or argumentation only means one thing. You lack some thinking about the subject... Maybe in your next life. If you think that stealing is an achievment of a lifetime, then i has nothing more to say
Never said so, but I've kinda already figured it out that you had nothing more to say.

i didn't watch. I dont want to pay to watch any kind of tournement /stream and I didn't bother trying to get it for free

If i can support them , i will and there are still more good people on earth than bad right? But you are still using up their bandwidth without paying, so in a way you ARE stealing, and no sorry you aren't entitled to get everything for free. If you aren't going to pay to watch something, at least have the dignity and self respect to not go and watch it for free. Really though, I clicked the official link and watched the event. That's it. I didn't steal anything, I was given it for free by MLG. It's not my fault if they didn't plan to give it out for free because that's exactly what they did. If you don't want them to give it out for free next time, bring it up with them.

Some people really like to exaggerate things. Like people almost reached in the MLG savings and took 20$, or even killed someone. Come on, if a user opens a link and it works it's not their fault. They didn't even tried anything fancy just did the standard thing.
And btw, don't even dare to think that if the streams were safer all those freebies people would have bought the pass. This is what most companies think: "OMG we sold 200.000 copies but it was pirated 3 milion times, we could have made so much money". No. Those people wouldn't have touched the product if it weren't free.
|
I gladly paid and watched it all with my PC hooked to the big HD tv. From my nice big leather armchair. I also had to watch whilst filled with caffeine and more sugar than is probably safe just to stay awake during EU hours. Yay!
|
I don't care how many people watched it for free. I paid money for it and felt cheated. Next time i'm not so stupid and pay money for a product of unknown quality. thanks mlg for making me a smarter consumer.
|
Really? this is the internet guys, what were you expecting?
And the only people who have a right to give shit to people who havent paid the mlg pass, are people who have NEVER downloaded anything illegally. yeah i though youd all shut up.
For my part, I would have gladly spent 20 $, im not a student having a hard time paying rent anymore, so why not. I was unable to see the whole thing live and I havent heard anything about MLG VOD release policy getting any better, so no fuckin way. People can say what they want about gsl. But when i pay my monthly x$ (yeah i dont even remember xD) well i know that WHEN i have the time, i can watch them. I have a job all week, a girlfriend, and im not going to spend 48 hrs watching stream.
For info i didnt even try to watch it for free, I didnt think there would be something as easy as fucking with cookie settings.
What i would like, is proper VOD download after the tourney is over, and free AUDIO stream, casters are good enough now to give you nerdchills with out actually seeing whats going on. And for those who ve followed sports with only radio, damn those were always exciting moments

If the price fits with the product, and the "bought" game ofers a decent aditional service (multiplayer, dedicated servers, etc) so buying it has an added value over pirating it, then more people will buy.
This weekend pass was way too expensive, and MLG doesnt have a good record on holding the best streaming services (we all remember the eagles). Even if the event was perfect content wise, a lot of people suffered lag, and for 20$ that shouldnt happen.
If they want to establish a business out of this, they need to improve some things.

I think if they were capable of doing so, we already would have seen it. It is definitely not their first event, they are not broke, they are not amateur (according to them). It is always the same story. Free... better next time, better next time.... $20... better next time...
Who is that dumb ? Just because they told you should buy to help esport, and because EG tried to play good cop / bad cop, does not means it is to them that you should give your money to.

You are too quick in your conclusions.
SC is a game that you play on the long run and that you can make a hobby of. It's not like buying Serious Sam HD... Being a hardcore gamer since I was born and having played on all kind of things, I only played SC2 now. Its like WoW. I don't have time to play any thing else. Maybe they copied Unreal Tournament for 2 days play (which they wouldn't have bought and play otherwise), but it's not the same with Blizzard games in general. You got what you paid for (unlike MLG xD).

I got exactly what I paid for. I wanted 3 days of good starcraft with the best players and I got that. Also the hobby bit had nothing to do with it. When there is no piratable copy or not one for a signifigant length of time a lot of people just go well i want to play this so I guess ill just bite bullet on this one.

I followed TL coverage, didn't really watch that much... 1-2 games perhaps
|
I didnt buy it and didnt watch it, because i'm against streams that have no free stream of low quality awalible. Not everyone can afford to pay for stream every time when some random tourny is going on. I paid for GSL couple of times and thats it, not to mention that GSL is much better organised than MLG.
+ Organisers must take into account that everyone simply doesnt have credit card avalible even if they would want to pay they cant, simply cause they don't have pay pal or anything related.
Someone said that commercials don't cut it, but i really doubt that, because at least 50% of ppl are cpu nerd type kids who will certainly going to be bugging their parrenty until they get that new ASUS motherboard they saw in the commercials or anything else (ASUS mobo is just example becasue i watched ASUS tourny and it comes to mind)
good day, svizcy

Funny how people hate restreams, but is okay with downloading music and movies. It pretty much the exact same thing.

So for you the only method that works is to restrict access to force thing going you way ? Instead of doing thing right so that people will want to support you. From my study years, I remember something like that that regarding culture, free thinking, fire and books... can't really remember...
