Makes me really sad. if mlg died i wouldn't complain at all. the only reason they are successful is because they showed up early. the KSL is significantly better in almost every way imo. i know, its not live, but really, with no fans, it makes fuck all difference. if the arena had been casted from replays, the only thing that would really have been different is that the DR pepper stream would have gone, but it was shit anyway. and they wouldnt have had to fly 32 players around the globe to massively inflate the costs of the event

Its the same as in that a person looking at a restream is not a missed 20$ buy from that person, just as a downloaded album isnt the same as a missed $20 dollar buy from that person. I watch the resteam, but i wouldnt have payed for it even if i couldnt watch a restream. So its not a missed buy. It doesnt cost MLG anything for me to watch a restream, but it made me want to buy the next event.

I didn't even know. Someone posted the url in the chat of some other stream. I clicked and it worked. I figured twitch and mlg had come to some kind of compromise to allow a free stream lol. It was still laggy as hell though -.-

Also it was possible for multiple people to log in one twitchTV account and watch the premium stream as well.

I wouldn't have paid for it even if i couldn't have watched it for free, but if an opportunity of watching it for free arises I'm not gonna sit back. I don't feel guilty at all. In fact, I strongly believe i helped MLG by discussing the tournament on forums and building interest for other people. "Piracy" does not equal missed sale.

I connected to MLG live at the time of the event start and i was super happy and confused that i could see the games and all streams , i didnt pay because i wasnt going to pay in the first place , but i was amazed that i could see so i watched the best games . If the next time i cant watch i will look for a re-stream , thats how i watch European Champions Cups , UFC , NBA . I really cant afford to pay for everything i watch , then whats left for the rest ? I pay car insurance , gas , food , electricity , internet , cable and i even smoke =( Everyone want to get paid , and everyone wants a lot these days , if we paid for everything we see on TV , would we see it? How many people would have watched "lost" " CSI" if it was PPV ? or Sports ? If i can support them , i will and there are still more good people on earth than bad right? This is a terrible argument, sorry. You cant use the example "well I pay for other things therefore its okay for me to watch MLG for free". There are a LOT of things in this world that I cant have because I cant afford them. Im not going to resort to stealing to get them however. People pay for Sports channels in cable packages. Im surprised you dont use the same logic to steal your smokes.

MLG's stream quality has always been extremely low. Even when they supposedly increased it to 720p it was still more blurry than any 480p stream I have ever seen from any other event. The first year I bought an event pass I did it because I live in europe and I wanted to see the re-stream that they promised us, because I couldn't stay awake for the live event. For some unknown reason these re-streams never happened. I contacted MLG about it but got no response at all. Paid $10 for absolutely nothing. This has been improved since then of course. But it adds to my overall image of MLG. It's well known that Justin/Twitch has bad peering to many european ISPs, and when there's 50K+ viewers they always lag, no matter where you're watching. Additional content between the games have always been a lackluster at MLG events. They said they would greatly improve it for this tournament, which I hope is true. But they should have shown that at the last event then, not ask me to trust them. Basicly there has always been some issues in the past and because of that I don't think any company should be entitled to ask their customers to just trust them that the product they are now charging even more forb will be the best thing I've ever seen. Until you can gaurantee the quality of the product (lag free stream, content, delays, customer support etc. etc) I don't think you should even begin to consider PPV. And at the very least you should have had one event with a free stream to showcase the new concept to let those of us who have watched every past MLG decide if the product is worth the price. I don't think PPV is a bad idea. It might very well be the only viable future. But the esports scene is nowhere near ready for it yet. this post sums up most of my issues. now the other issue i have is pricing, look i know you all say that 20 dollars is nothing and that if you cant pay it its just because your a jobless nut and so forth, but look at it from a different point of view... a company known for huge ammount of downtime between matches, big issues whit the stream in every single event tells you that they are gonna make this huge event that will be done over the weekend whit no crowd at all and being pay per view and then they tell you that its gonna cost 20 dollars explaining how they paid for the flights of the players and so forth (bad idea to be honest... i think spending 100k+ on fliying players to an event its a really bad idea when you could instead put lets say 40k extra on the prize pool wich would be enough to get the players to come) and all of this witouth you knowing if the product its really worth the cash since they have never done something like it. if you look at it that way (my way and probably the way some of those who didnt pay see it) 20 dollars its just too much money for it. and then we have the other problems such as people who can only watch one day because of work/school/a trip. for these a daily payment would have worked... or what about something more specific like saying i just want to watch the stream b today so i pay 3 dollars for it. that would have been a good idea but again i think PPV is fine as far as the pricing is flexible enough AND they can prove that their product its truly worth it. Because sincerely for 20 dollars i expect that the only trouble possible was a DC because battle.net decided to be an ass... but lag ,computer crashes ,copyright infringement and issues in MLG´s side are unacceptable.

If you can't spell thats fine and thats the truth, I am bilingual as well and thats. Just how it is. Ironic how people weren't so senitive when TB made a joke involving Korean players' inability to speak english at ASUS ROG.

And seeing all the comments about this possibly killing MLG/E-sports, i think the new mlg is already on the horizon, just look at IPL4 for example ![]()

Full stop. it was an unfortunate or even intended technical issue. If you somehow just went to the MLG site and it worked then fine, congrats on getting $20 worth of content for free with a bug. If you watched a restream or used a workaround however thats different.

If you aren't going to pay to watch something, at least have the dignity and self respect to not go and watch it for free. Some people watched Russian re-stream so they were not taking their bandwidth as far as I can tell, so no stealing there. People who used the anonymous workaround also were not stealing, though there can be made a case for immorality/illegality of their actions if they did it on purpose. I was not watching the event but I checked the quality of the stream during one game on Sunday and terrible lags (quite common for twitch) told me that I am not buying anything from MLG even when I will have time whole weekend to watch it.

A watch restream is not the same as a missed buy.
