lol, I feel sorry for all you suckers...no offense. When you start to pay for stuff these money grubbers get it in their head you will pay for anything even if they have already charged you for it. It's the way of the world, and the only way to prevent future fees is to not pay the current fees.
Good thing Assembly is on that weekend. I always liked MLG free stream and for the sake of my cheap ass wallet, I hope this is just an one-time experiment.
serius ppl pay for gold menbership u still have balls to make they pay more? lol gl ... not watching anything from mlg again .. and not renewing my membership ...
It comes down to what else is on that weekend and what competition is. I would rather buy a pizza and watch Assembly or a stream of my favorite player than I would pay $20 to watch two days of play. Sorry MLG, I love you, but I can't get on board with this.

NO sir , MLG always was greedy. Other big tournaments never gonna make step like this. Pay for HD yes , pay for watch no.. They try to get rich by hurting e-sports , they even trick MLG gold members and now they must pay agine to watch it , its stupid and silly. MLG still have lowest price money from all very big tournaments , and now thye make this.. its greed , nothing more.
I honestly can't understand this decision by MLG. They could make as much money if not more money from doing the free stream + ad revenue including the subscription offerings, that I always sign up for. What makes even less sense is that they're releasing the VODs a week later, I'd expect a PPV event to be exclusive to those who pay to see the event, would not expect to see VODs a week later. With Assembly being on at the same time and the VODs being released a week later I imagine very few Europeans at least will want to pay-to-view, I mean sure one will be on earlier in the day than the other and they'll be a small overlap if any but I don't know how many people will want to watch SC2 all day from 1pm to 4am or something. Given that this event will certainly see far fewer viewers than the other events, and probably less people paying (subscription for HD on seasons) despite it being $20 compared to less for Gold membership, I can't imagine this will bring in more than the standard format. In the situation that MLG doesn't make more money from this format then all they'll have achieved is encouraging other tournaments to try this and hurt their public image (people may think they're getting greedy and becoming a greedy corporation run by suits).
All this negative stuff aside I guess it's good for us to experiment with new things and see how they turn out. This kind of PPV event will be massive for the Barcraft community and will not doubt see massive turnout! I wish MLG the best of luck but I thought I should just offer my thoughts and throw it out there!

I believe you could've held a 16-32 man online only tournament with higher prizes because you don't need to pay for travel and still use the PPV model and charge $5 and I WOULD pay for that. 3 days of the highest level players playing for $5 well worth it plus you save so much on travel expenses.
Yes, MLG, what is the idea behind a LAN event without screaming fans? Maybe they're going for a HSC feel, but that would be such a stretch for MLG. They're style has its place just like HSC's does.
So I agree. Cast replays or even cast as they're played live and sink the extra cash into the players' pockets. There would have to be adjustments with server choice/lag issues, but it must be possible to offer the same quality without so much durn expense.
If I had the money I might pay for it. Even then it would be a tough deal though. Because 20 bucks gives me a whole month of GSL0 (wasn't GSL only 10 bucks for a whole month before?). However, the Vods will be free, so I'll just watch those later, and tune in to assembly. All I need to do is wait a couple weeks and avoid spoilers? Easily worth the 20 bucks I'd save... If I had the money.
People saying that complaining about a "measly" 20 bucks... I wonder if you ever lived on your own, paid your own bills, and had to balance a tight budget before. 20 bucks in three days? Totally not cheap.
I feel its too early. SC2 is a growing market, not a cash cow yet. I kinda have the impression MLG added some corporate consultants regarding their latest actions. Which is good for the profitability, but not for part of their employers (got cut) and the customers.

They don't. That's exactly why they're doing this--because living off advertisement revenue isn't enough to sustain MLG or isn't enough to propel them to the vision of the business that they have.
