Yes,getting financial security and support in a volatile world such as esports is selling out.
Get out dude.

Yea but as of right now, it looks like he is taking financial security at the cost of his skills.

1 years salary from SK is not worth the drop in skill he will see , not to mention SK will give him a significantly worse deal next year if he hasnt been winning.

Like i said before IF SK isnt giving mc at least as much money as he made last year, its a bad deal for him (and even then id consider it a bad deal, what would you prefer to win alot and make your money from prize earnings or not win and get it from a salary, one is obviously more secure but still)

and i highly doubt mc is even getting 100k let alone close to 200k

Boo hoo, you have only yourself to blame for that. MC is human and he needs to make a living. It just so happens that he plays video games for a career.. to be able to achieve a substantial salary + benefits and turning that into a career is his dream, and he just got one step closer.

On topic: I'm definitely curious to what happens next:
-Does SK have plans to re-open a sc2 team or is MC going to be flying solo for the time being (I know virgil touched on this a few pages back but it wasn't as concrete as I hoped.)
-How does MC adapt to his new freestyle training regime? Practice partners won't be a problem but will freedom get in the way of dedication?
-Does SK partner with a brand new Korean team? Would make sense that they do.

All in all, I'm actually a little sad that MC is leaving oGs purely for emotional and nostalgia factors, but the truth is, this is an exciting time for him. He gets to head up a brand new team as their foundation and as their pillar. Plus hes likely receiving a generous salary - at the end of the day, I'd say he earned it.

Dont forget that SK-gaming is a giant esports team and community.
They defenitely have bigger plans than this, expect alot more recruits and a new team house being set up.

MC might have been in contact with some old BW pros.
SK might evenn steal a couple oGs players through MC, only time will tell but all i can say for certain is that SK for sure will get more players soon.

No because IM is still a korean team and MC is not even close to MVP's level. The difference is like Flash and BeSt

You're either underrating FlaSh or overrating BeSt. A much better analogy would be the difference between fantasy and best with fantasy obviously being the superior player.

Comparing someone to Flash would be like MVP to Bitbybit

I really don't think his play will suffer because of this. He's still going to be in Korea and he's likely to keep practicing with his friends in the oGs house as well as with friends in many other teams. The only difference is that he may or may not be getting a bigger paycheck, which he so deserves if he is, and that he'll maintain a closer relationship with his SO. I see no problem here. He's got the mindset and attitude of a champ and I just don't see this affecting him long term, skillwise. Will still remain a huge fan of the Bosstoss.

kind of stupid, mc should have waited until they had a full team he could practice with. Practicing alone will not be conducive to his success in my opinion

lol MC plays protoss and by that measure he's a fuck ton better than MVP. How many other protoss won GSL? None. Plenty of terran have, Not to mention 10x more personality which sells. And will sell product for SK. Check out fan club..many more members.

MC has more marketability than MVP period.

LOL, there are people who actually think this way? XD

Good for him, as long as it won't bring the same shitstorm like last time with a certain other team.

I think this is definitely related to that thing about BW pros switching over soon. I bet SK has lots more plans for the future and they'll bring in more people.

I think he will regret it. It might decrease his current skill even if he gets more money.

How is he dropping in skill? Who says he cant practice in oGs house anymore? Who says SK is not in the verge of buying a team (NHSH or Zenex maybe?) or forming their own. Today no one expected this. What happens if tomorrow MVP leaves IM for this (hypothetically). Then you all would be jumping the bandwagon.

Seems to me every MC hater out there is trying to find every way to bash the dude. Whether subtle or direct. Joining one of the most successful esports team EVER isn't all that bad, even right now.

Those are a bunch of what ifs, im going off of the informations we actually have.

And it is stated in the OP that he will be practicing from home.

Plus i dont think OGS is happy about losing their star player, he wont be practicing there or it would have been stated in the OP

Lol, you guys need to realize that MC is a big boy and is probably not a moron. He surely weighed in the cost benefits of this partnership and decided it was the best for him. I am sure that he still has practice partners lined up(Because you know, they don't practice 100% of the time with their teammates)

Stop acting as if KT used Complexity's patented mind confusion technology and stole away MC into the night. Not my favourite news, but stop trying to make some drama out of it
