I'd imagine this is what team captains are for: to organize all this shit out him/herself internally and present the final lineup and subs

This seems like it would be absolutely awesome to me if it gets done. I would definitely register when the time comes.

The Empire State>All! I'd love to see this actually happen I think it'd be a lot of fun

I would be very interested in this I think it would be lots of fun and I look forward to participating in the league.

I will be doing this very shortly! Looks like there are some issues to be fixed as well. In the meantime, keep the suggestions coming and spread the word :D
Cool, I volunteer to help organize for Texas. I won't be playing or anything, but I could at least help put the team together if Texas folks want to get in touch with me.

Texas FTW!
I pretty much could contact all the high level Texas players (in fact, I probably have the majority of them added on SC2 :o).

I'm still willing to help if you want to hold some sort of qualifier or something. You'd have to have some way to verify that they are actually from Texas, and some fair way to pick the top 9 (and maybe some backups) I suppose.

Being from saskatchewan, i feel that if i practice enough i can get on our team . This is exactly what i think starcraft needs. A league that can give SC more exposure while letting players practice more and feel more like a community. Also this fills in the huge gap between ladder player and pro gamer. The jump just feels so dauntingly huge right now that this is what we need to really get esports into the life of everyone. We all support what you are doing, and if this works you may go down in history as the most influential individual to the success of esports in america. You have support, and people will help you. Just ask and you shall receive

Awesome idea I support this

how are players picked for teams? Is it by current living residence (college) or by "home"? I am from california but go to school in indiana, would love to be on either team
|
For the record, I'll put my name out there as an organizer/manager for Georgia (good luck finding 9 players right? T_T) so if you want to get with me and discuss it, add me on Skype: VirgilSC2

Sounds like a cool idea, exept team saskatchewan will suck D=.
|
BO9 with 18 players is just not practical
also i seriously doubt this would generate much interest since their wont be too many top players and way too many mediocre players
|
Why not make it so that Player 1 continues to play untill he loses, and so forth?

With a big enough prizepool, the best players of North America will ofcourse participate, if their schedule and team allows them.

But people can't be trusted like that, there will be bias and it won't be completely fair. We need a governing body (like the OP) to give rules for tournies, for example, to decide which are the "top 9" from each state/province each season.

If there's a manager for NY, pm me please! I'd like to participate

For a start BO9 is crazy, it will become such a slog for the casters and viewers watching that many mediocre (non big-name) players.
Best of 7 would be better.
Instead of trying to start a gigantic project and diving in at the deep end, why not try organising a mini-tournament, 4 states, BO7 - see how it goes, see if it works, see if there is interest.

At first glance this looks scarily like what I am working on with the semi-pro league here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=290439 But note that CanucksJC setup is for teams from specific areas, not individuals... sort of like the CSL without college is what it looks like to me. There are also different rules allowing different players to participate; pro gamers allowed vs only semi-pro/amateur. I wish CanucksJC the best of luck with this. Let me know if you need any help finding people in the New England area. You could say I know a few people.

Why call if "Battle of North America" when it is just a local one country league? Feels like the US always has these delusion of grandeur, thinking they are the world.
