Dear TeamLiquid.net and StarCraft Community.

I would like to introduce you into new Gaming House project. We are a company that owns E-Sport team and many others, more and less interesting projects like Gaming League etc. but it's not the point of this topic. Our goal is to create Gaming House in one of the biggest Polish cities, Posen or Warsaw.

1. Poznań (Posen)

Why Poznań?

Poznań is situated in the center of Poland, it has an airport and great urban communication in there (trams and buses). It's a lot more friendlier for foreigners than other cities in Poland, and to be honest - it's really great and teeming with life. Don't worry, it isn't going to happen in a centre of the city. We know pretty well, that every single working person (in that case it's a gamer) wants to have peacefull place to work, so thats why we have decided to pick a place on quiet and calm peripheries. We have two locations with a very high standard equipment/conditions. We will send you pictures over the mail if you are interested, as I said those two options are very luxury.

2. Warszawa (Warsaw)

Why Warsaw?

Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River, roughly 260 kilometres (160 mi) from the Baltic Sea and 300 kilometres (190 mi) from the Carpathian Mountains.

Warsaw is an Alpha- global city, a major international tourist destination and an important economic hub in Central and Eastern Europe. It is also known as the "phoenix city" because it has survived many wars throughout its bloody history.

In Warsaw, we are in posession of 3 houses with 5 rooms (2 players in each one), and that's going to happen at 350m2 area in every option.

Why Poland?

It's in the center of Europe. In addition to that, products and living cost in Poland are very cheap in comparision to other countries. For example, in KFC for bucket with 30 Hot Wings you have to pay 35,99 PLN which is like 8€, Twister? 9PLN (~2€). Let's go to McDonald's - Hamburger/Cheesburger - 3PLN (0.6€). Communication in town? For bus ticket, which is valid for 60 minutes we have to pay 6PLN (~1,20€). For driving by the whole city with taxi (from airport to house) it will be 40PLN (~9€). For people beyond of Europe borders, there are alot better conditions mainly in a matter of Internet connection.

Why our Gaming House?

We focus on providing high standards for Gamers and Organizations which will be interested in renting their stay. We are providing different "packages" of capabilities and standards. Every single house in actual offer can hold 10 players and manager. We already have a lot of interested people, four of them are from Poland (DieStar, Tarson, Matiz, Rasowy, 4 other interested players are from other countries, one of them is for example Monchi).

What possibilities?

We are very excited on doing this in our homeland. We want this to be something different than standard conception of Gaming House. We will take care of every gamer which will arrive to our country, from his landing in Poland to departing to his home or some tournament located in any place on the World. We are providing sustenance on very good level by partnership restauration (3 meals each day guaranteed), cleaning services, one manager that will take care of Gaming House and people living in. We will help you with all formalities and stuff like that - feel free to ask for help in any case.

What internet services will be provided in Gaming House?

It will be enough to stream your games in HD. Propably 24mbps/4mbps for every PC, but it can change depending on requirments for streaming and some other offers. 24mbps of download and 4mbps of upload are guaranteed.

I have other questions, how I can contact you?

Feel free to contact us at mail: o.staykov@gifuae.com or skype: gaminghousepoland.

Best Regards,
O.S.

Although I admire your plans and wish the best for you, I think starting up a team house in poland will be hard. Hell, starting up one in America and Korea isn't even easy. I hope you get some top players or else things might fall apart.

Nice concept and idea, I can't wait to see if this works out Depends entirely on the cost though and I have a feeling it'll be quite expensive for the average pro gamer.

Depends how much money you Have.. We have all what you need to build houses. IKEA, Castorama, Obi, Leroy Merlin.. and many many more, computer chairs etc.

Food is much better in restaurants and a lot better than fast food ( cheaper too ). Wodka ( Rotterdam and Mr. Bitter won Żóbrówka yesterday ) is great girls are beautiful.

Internet kinda sux but it depends on localisation, Warsaw and Poznań seams good.

lackluser? you mean lackluster? and if so how do you mean? I think the non korean houses are far superior. they are far far more accommodating for the players, and theres zero reason why they cannot be just as beneficial with the right players/coach and practice regime.

Actually not, the price of living is very cheap in poland, average GM player can usually afford this :>

Dear Community,

I am very happy about your first impressions! It's always great to see so many people wishing us best of luck. It motivates not only me but the whole team to another weeks of hard work.

We do have pictures, but we didn't wanted to spam them so hard. Expect some gallery soon.
If you are wondering how it will look like later, I want to assure you we are going to do some crazy stuff with environment effects, to make real StarCraft climate in there!

Best Regards,

To be fair one the biggest problems with America and Korea (and Western Europe / Scand) in regards to training houses is the price of living, its extremely high. If a gaming house is going to succeed anywhere its going to be east of Poland where living expenses are far lower.

Good luck with that, I feel like the only problem with a European team house is that you don't have access at all to the korean server, otherwise as people life is cheap down there and the infrastructure is OK so it's a paradize for progaming.
However I feel like the OP is not really clear about the goals of these houses and I'm not sure I understand who you are.
What is the name of your company, what is the league that who own, do you have these houses already? If I understand you do not plan to put your own players there but you want to rent these places to progamers and/or teams to make a teamhouse?

oh, spellcheck fail. yes, i meant lackluster. i meant lackluster in that none of them have shown any results. they look pretty; they look awesome; they look like a lot of fun; but then nothing happens. didn't catz have this awesome gaming house in florida? i saw no result; indeed, i haven't seen catz in any tournament. then, eg created the arizona house. looks awesome, looks like a lot of fun, but i haven't seen any real improvement in the players. idra, huk and puma were awesome before they went into the house, but i didnt see any improvement in any other players really. the only player that i really saw improve was demuslim, but that had a lot to do with outside factors (e.g., he broke his hand/arm and came back). as for the sweden house, other than TLO, I cant even recall who was in the home, but what results came out of it? nobody is saying "look at the success of the swedish gaming house." indeed, the only press i have seen was that shitstorm that went on after a tl writer wrote that the EG house was a failure. nowhere have i seen "god damn, creating a gaming house was a good idea."

that being said, i wish the best of luck to the poland gaming house. maybe it will set the bar higher for non-korean progaming houses.

Sounds like a very very cool idea for up and coming european players to get a good practice environment, and it will of course be cheaper from them as well since from reading the comments I get the impression that there is a relatively high standard of living there.

Russian? i don't think so. I don't know any pole that can speak it.

English is mandatory in every school so it shouldn't be a problem.

It's not mandatory. A foreign language course *is* and while English is the most widespread by far, many schools do offer alternatives and one can easily finish education without having to learn any English whatsoever. On the other hand, the person suggesting "polish / russian support" is obviously ignorant enough not to realize the sheer silliness that is his comment.

I don't know either, but there was a time, when we were tired of making relations between us and Russia. Maybe that's just fallout from making such relations. Anyway GL Matiz, it's great to hear that Poland tries to be engaged in e sports to a greater degree.

EDIT: Warsaw seems to be better localization - it has better communication despite higher cos of living when compared to Poznań.

gl to you. it seems that the non-koreans houses so far have been lackluser (Arizona, USA and the one in Sweden).

lackluser? you mean lackluster? and if so how do you mean? I think the non korean houses are far superior. they are far far more accommodating for the players, and theres zero reason why they cannot be just as beneficial with the right players/coach and practice regime.

oh, spellcheck fail. yes, i meant lackluster. i meant lackluster in that none of them have shown any results. they look pretty; they look awesome; they look like a lot of fun; but then nothing happens. didn't catz have this awesome gaming house in florida? i saw no result; indeed, i haven't seen catz in any tournament. then, eg created the arizona house. looks awesome, looks like a lot of fun, but i haven't seen any real improvement in the players. idra, huk and puma were awesome before they went into the house, but i didnt see any improvement in any other players really. the only player that i really saw improve was demuslim, but that had a lot to do with outside factors (e.g., he broke his hand/arm and came back). as for the sweden house, other than TLO, I cant even recall who was in the home, but what results came out of it? nobody is saying "look at the success of the swedish gaming house." indeed, the only press i have seen was that shitstorm that went on after a tl writer wrote that the EG house was a failure. nowhere have i seen "god damn, creating a gaming house was a good idea."

that being said, i wish the best of luck to the poland gaming house. maybe it will set the bar higher for non-korean progaming houses.

edit:
catz, fenix, tt1 and drewbie house -- http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=201561
tlo, sjow, morrow, haypro and bischu house -- http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=225087

I think your argument has the basic flaw that you're comparing people that live in team houses to people that also live in team houses. It is true not every player of the three team houses you mentioned has performed very well, but at least Morrow, Haypro and Sjow has. And as for the EG players, performing much more poorly resultwise than they used to, can quite simply be attributed to the raised skill level in MLGs. You should rather look at their results against non-teamhouse players. My guess is that they improved a lot on average in that aspect.

We're now at the point that if you want to be top 20 in the world, you _have_ to live in a teamhouse. But furthermore we're moving towards the point that if you want to be top 200, you have to live in a teamhouse. IMO, we saw this in brood war where any non-pro in the world (no matter how insanely talented) would have a hard time vs. any korean b-teamer. I would argue that often the non-pros far exceeded b-teamers in terms of raw talent and potential, the nature of the teamhouse and continuous work closed the gap, and then some.

This, which I believe is true, leads to the conclusion that a teamhouse in Poland can only be good. As long as players are motivated, their skill will skyrocket. You don't have to play vs. the absolute best to improve (although it helps), as long as theres a big enough playerpool of motivated and fairly skilled players. Poland seems like an ideal place for pro-gaming houses. The low living costs, a fairly central location in Europe and IMO its more compatible with the western european culture (as compared to the Balkans, which are also cheap).

My tip is to go for Warsaw if you're planning on bringing in a lot of non-Polish players. They'd most likely like to see and live in that city, as compared to Poznan. But if living costs, housing standards and airplane rates are much better in Poznan go for that. (Enables more teams to send players, etc.) Sc2 comes before culture in that case.

Anyway, seems like a great thing to do and im all for it.

May we stick on the topic again and stop blaming naniwa or polish players?

To the organizers: Great stuff. Obviously an awesome idea to do these things in Poland which is much more cheap than the other countries we have gaming houses so far.

I hope it works although i'm a bit sceptic about gaming house with players from different teams. I think the team spirit a gaming house is essential to make it successful.

Best of luck, it is great to see gaming house starting to emerge in EU/US !

This is a great idea, and I'm very interested to see how it's handled in Poland because if this seems profitable/reasonable it would be a great way for people to break into the scene who are really looking to get down to business but cannot afford or their team cannot afford to send them to Korea. Gaming houses international first the EG house here in U.S. and now in Poland. Go Go E-sports.

24/4 from UPC cost around 15 euro, so it's not expensive
he can take example 4 separate connections on one flat from the same provider.
100mbit cost around 25 euro i guess

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.

Guys, seriously, chill out and man up. I, for one, laughed out loud at Naniwa's troll attempt. Let's not take this to ourselves. Whether the Polish SC2 scene is really top class (and I'm talking top as in Nestea, MVP, Leenock, MC, Bomber, those people) at the moment is arguable. I think any player can reach that level, and I do think that our top guys (Mana and Nerchio <3) are, if not already as good, getting at least pretty damn close. Nani's entitled to his opinion, though. One can hardly tell whether he's being sarcastic or not, but...

Instead of taking words like his to ourselves, let's prove him wrong instead

About the team house - awesome stuff, I'll be a bit selfish and say that I hope it happens in Warsaw - but I love that you guys are doing this, regardless of where it ends up going down.

There is nothing to prove to Naniwa. He's just an idiot, like IdrA for example. Arrogant, selfish, uneducated and probably socially retarded.

But i think pallad is right. Naniwa should be carefull about saying such things. Poles don't like to be pushed around for historical reasons, plus there were sone LAN incidents involving people getting their ass kicked. NW knows what i'm talking about.

Well it's good to actually visit a city before having an opinion about it.
I've been to Posen many times, i have a family there. It is boring and seems to be small. Warsaw is best choice by far for dozens of reasons, tolerance included. Its the only "complete" city in Poland imho.

Anyway, thats my opinion, good luck wherever you will set it up!

Are you serious?!? Don't pull words out of context man... I didn't say Naniwa should get beaten. I said he should be carefull due to the nature of polish people, and i didn't mean all poles, just those you mentioned.
I may not like Naniwa for his behavior, but he sure is an excellent player and i respect that. Some may not.

Next time read more carefully not to misjudge people's comments.

Stop BM , you dont wanna have polish sc2 community as enemies. Someday in some live events , your face gonna be slaped , for your words.. so better grown up.

To be serius...he called Nestea an idiot , he forgot him , but im almost sure if he gonna call Tarson an idiot , Tarosn gonna slap his face on some live event .
Naniwa is NOT a god , he cant tell everything he wanna whiteout any reaction.
He got very bad result nowdays in Kr , even on Kr ladder he lose to some mid masters player's.

Naniwa is just a nerd. Stop talking about this idiot - he plays protoss so he has to be, this topic is about gaming house.

Great idea, I also hope that there will be a possibility of visiting this house for example for 1-2 weeks, for any player just to improve but at least mid/high master, if there is a free slot for these couple of days.

He did NOT call Nestea an idiot, he just called one action by him idiotic. That's a pretty big differance.

Seems like you did your research haha, I would love to see this affect the world in some way. I also believe in foreigner houses over Korean gaming houses, but that's just me because I used to watch progaming in SC:BW alot and sometime I would get a look at their gaming house.

Where did you get that number? I tried to find it on that press release but didn't see it! Also...is that rent only or does that include other things? Food, utilities...etc?

3 meals a day are guaranteed.
And for a price google "1500PLN is dollar( or euro)?" It will show you how much exactly.
The house provides the streams channels with "good" partnership deals with own3d - they keep 25% of the add revenue from the stream that count's towards the rent - so they might actually not need to pay.

I would be embarrassed to read shit like this if I was Polish, god damn. If you can't even play a video game without trying to "kick someone's ass" there is something REALLY wrong with you. Not to mention the fact that you're shit talking a player that has nothing to do with the topic at all for no reason.

And good luck on the project, it looks really good. Hope we can see some more good Polish players, as MaNa is the only one that really comes to mind right now.

I would like to introduce you new Gaming House project. We are company that owns E-Sport team and many others interesting projects like Gaming League but it is not point of this topic. Our goal is to create Gaming House in biggest Polish cities, Posen or Warsaw.

That is how I read that first paragraph, using a polish accent. I don't even know why.

Pictures look supersexy. I wished I could just stop working and try my luck in such a gaming house for a couple years. Making no money but just practicing like crazy, trying to become legit in SCII.
I had a good night of sleep.

It's a lot of money to be honest, but do not worry - it won't be food from KFC or McDonald's or just catering services. It's more like a person that will cook meals (housekeeper) according to players dietary preferences.

Hi all,
Basically I want to link you guys to the article I found on one of the biggest SC2 polish websites (it is in Polish) :
http://www.starcraft2.net.pl/portal/sc2/1/2295/Pierwszy_Pro_Gaming_House_w_Polsce.html
According to the website, soon so called "International Gaming House" will be opened in Poznań, Poland. As you can see on the photos the house looks quite nice.
The idea is similar to the Korean model:
1. They want to provide high quality housing for approximately 10 people.
2. Players will receive 3 meals a day.
3. House manager will take care of players/ motivate them.
4. Medical care will be provided as well as support with visa issues.
5. Schedule will be introduced as well as internal rules.
6. Access to high speed internet will be established (it is just 24mbps/4mbps but for Poland is a lot)

It seems the house will have vivid life:
1. Players will play in online cups
2. Internal tournaments
3. Write blogs

Few players like DieStar, Tarson, Matiz, Rasowy are interested into moving in.
The manager of the project is Oliver Staykov.

I recommend seeing if there are internet providers that are willing to give free/heavily discounted internet for the occasional shout-out/advertisement.

Isn't 11 hours of practise a day a litte too much, of course there will be players who are willing to invest 11 hours a day. But I think 8 hours a day is more reasonable. The players who want to invest more time may of course play more. But stating that everyone has to play 11 hours seems quite crazy to me. Taking in consideration someone needs to sleep 8 hours makes 19 hours together, 1 hour waking / breakfast, 1 hour lunch, 1 hour dinner. makes 22 hours, that means someone has 2 hours left on a day to do other things, in those 2 hours he also needs to make blogs, communicate with fans etc.....

I understand your point, however I didn't mean that players have to play 11 hours and that's all the stuff - in this time you also make blogs, communicate with fans, stream your games, take a part in tournaments and other activities that we have in plans. Of course everything can change a bit in future, after consulting with players.

This is really cool, and looks like a great atmosphere for players.

Only thing i saw as a very slight possible problem would actually be the computers themselves, the ram only being 4 gigs and a dual core processor (even a strong one like the 660) may cause some lag for potential streamers. Might want to look into at least a bit more ram, the processor can probably hold its own.

Otherwise this looks baller.

Those PCs are minimum, we will check them if they are good enough to work with SC2 and streaming in HD. Thanks for your opinion. No worries, they aren't bought yet.

Dear TL Community,

Our line-up is 99% full and complete now, which means that we have a green light to start!

Important data you should know.

- We have 14 sure players which wants to join the project, from such teams like Millenium, RAGE, Dignitas, LLL, MaxFloPlay, BLAST, ESC and so on.

- We have built a house line-up including 10 players, 4 of them are on back-up.

- Scheduled start can slightly change because of the Internet connection installation time. (it's coming in less than month people!)

- House website with Roster, Blogs, VODs, Coaching possibilities, Streams, in-house live tournaments coverages coming just before the project starts.

No it didnt, they only had a contract for the house from march to october. TLO just moved out from it due to his Carpal Funnel Syndrome thing. The rest of the players stayed there until the contract ran out.

You and TLO, the gamer house heroes.

TLO's house fell apart pretty fast after it started hopefully this one works out better! xD

No it didnt, they only had a contract for the house from march to october. TLO just moved out from it due to his Carpal Funnel Syndrome thing. The rest of the players stayed there until the contract ran out.

Carpal Funnel Syndrome sounds like something related to cake and magikarps.

It's in the center of Europe. In addition to that, products and living cost in Poland are very cheap in comparision to other countries. For example, in KFC for bucket with 30 Hot Wings you have to pay 35,99 PLN which is like 8€

You had me sold on this.

Yeah, you may want to check up the latest topic about Ministry of Win gaming house:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=333476

It states it costs about 599 euro / month with all expenses covered.

and the house homepage:
