I lol'd so hard at this.

Go watch football before you make statements like this.

Sure they may not play as hard, but they don't stand there like a fucking pylon and get run over. They actually show some effort because they respect the sport and the other team. This is called professionalism

Naniwa was not getting a prize.

Officially lost all respect for Gomtv...

It clearly states that the highest placed competitor, whos not already in code s, gets a code s spot.. not the BS they wrote in this statement..

I appreciate that GOM does not want to set a bad precedent in regards to throwing games, but I think that cutting insignificant games should also be considered to reduce the odds of players being tempted, as well as because broadcasted games with nothing on the line are almost always mediocre at best.

Chae talks about being a PRO-gamer and such and yet his organisation is making a completely subjective decision such as banning a player from the competition without having any real regulation or penalty system backing up their decision. How is that professional?

And also if Naniwa wasn't deemed to be in code S because of MLG Providence anyway, why say he is banned from code S for his actions? That's like saying you're not supposed to be in code S next month but i'm still banning you from code S.

and another thing i want to know is who the hell runs GSL? Is it Chae? is it a secret convention of directors? did john the translator do it?

Naniwa did something wrong, he must of known that he was going to be at the very least heavily disliked for the actions he made that night. People may think the penalty is wrong, but I think it's perfect. Severe punishment for the first person who does something like this so people at least play their games out int he spirit of competition. If it was any other sport team or single individual, the fans would uproar and there would be severe penalties, like a suspension or something. At least Naniwa still gets to play.

If people want E-sports to grow then they should hold the pro-gamers to the same standard as professional athletes. Plain and simple.
I asked my friend how the ratio at a party was, he replied. "Let's just say for every guy there was two dudes."

he is doing some incredible damage control though... good for him.

I would love it if NaNiwa did something like this:

I'm rather concerned by the discord between MLG and GOMTV over the Providence seed. It seems that everyone except GOM thought the exchange was still in effect; changing it up now seems rather sketchy in light of recent events.

I'm really interested in MLG's take on this.

QFT -- it's important to read the link from Gomtv.net, it's quite clear that naniwa secured a Code S spot since Leenock was Code S and he was 2nd place at MLG Providence. (Which was a Pro Circuit event that happened after MLG Columbus in the 2011 season...)

That wasn't totally relevant to his post. He didn't say they didn't have the best players. There are reasons involved with supporting a tournament that aren't related to the skill of its participants.

I think all this smells abit bad. I will not be watching or in anyway supporting a organisation that enforces unknown rules according to their own liking or atleast when it looks like that is what they are doing.

On a side note i personally find no entertainment value in a match where nothing is on the line.

Agreed

This is not the first time Nani has stirred up controversy. I think he was really disrespect in the interview before the games. Saying how it was just another tournament etc...

I don't see him lasting with that type of attitude and maybe that's why he switched teams again because of his attitude.

Oh well maybe he will grow up one day. I support GOMTV 100 Percent on this!!

Remember guys if it was a Korean player he would have been punished 100x worst.

I feel like this has been posted already somewhere, but while reading the article I noticed this section

"# At every 2011 Pro Circuit Live Competition after MLG Columbus, GSL placement will occur as follows:

* Code S status will be awarded to the highest placing player, regardless of country of origin, who doesn't already have Code S status."

I'm not sure why providence, the most prestigious of all MLG events in 2011 would be excluded. Again, I don't know either why Gom would take so long to addess the issue with Naniwa's Code S spot. Surely they couldn't have missed it plastered everywhere on the internet that Naniwa earned a code S placement.

A fair punishment proportionate to the disrespect and lack of professionalism shown by him, I'm sure Naniwa will learn from this! +1 Gomtv
