Even no-call-no-shows. GOM should have allowed NaNiwa to forfeit in the first place. As for all of the events that happened afterwards... There's not much new I can add. forfeit is bad for any tournament... mlg has tons of walkovers in open bracket but theres way too many competitors and the fact that they are concentrated in the earlier open bracket which is not aired they seem lax about it, on the other hand when nasl has walkovers and dropouts in their season long tournament it hurts their schedule and content since they are all planned to be air, and so they penalize players by keeping their deposits.

Gomtv gave the code S seed to someone else, Naniwa apologized, and he is now clear to participate in GSL after the next one. Arguing about technicalities, when the true heart of the issue have been resolved, is being unreasonable and dumb. Let it go. Life goes on. Learn to pay for your mistakes. Quit beating the dead horse. Naniwa was never banned from gsl, just revoked consideration for code S seed. Technically he can play in next seasons Gsl qualifiers / code A if he wishes but I believe he denied that himself out of atonement.

At least that can provide some form of entertainment, and there is always a slim chance that carriers and BC's en-mass can actually win. It's the mentality of "Well there's nothing in this for me, so let's do something crazy and off-the-wall" they're still providing a form of entertainment, though I accept a lot of people do find this disappointing too. What Naniwa did was essentially a "Fuck you *middle finger*", whether that was his intention to send that message or not I do not know but, but there's no denying it was an incredibly foolish immature act which he did without contemplating the ramifications. He could've at the very least proxy two gate/4 gate all-in every game. Would that have been in competitive spirit? No, but there a big difference between that and what he did.

Korean players do this as often as foreigne players do. They are just more sneaky about it and hide it. Where have we as a eSports community gone when this becomes a huge shitstorm of hate over 2 days and after we get the formal statements from both sides and an apology from Naniwa we instantly drop it, without any questions? This community and eSport in general is far from what an actual sport and community should be like. ¨ Thats my 2 cents. User was warned for this post

Of all the back-water insults, you're using RACISM? Please, I know you're getting so riled up because of your nationalism but at least be reasonable about it

Licensed Korean "PROGAMERS" in Broodwar have been throwing matches in WCG group stages to avoid other Koreans in eilmination brackets before top 4 which is OK according to them Marineking can hold his Dokdo sign to offend GSL Japanese viewers in GSLWC and still get away with it. But, it is not ok if a player throws a game in a match that doesn't matter. GOM is like Kespa 2.0, but at least Kespa follow their rules and stick with them (the stupid "gg" and "ppp" rules) whilst GOM just pull rules out of their ass( such as changing GSL formats once a month to get rid off 20 Terrans in Code S and the "abusive behavior" rule)

Also comparing gom to kespa is kind of rediculous. I was kind of on the fence on who I thought was right until the op mentioned that this could drive players to do this more; by setting the precedent that it was ok.

Unless there is conspiracy or collusion going on with Mafia gangs and sports betting, then there is a reason why you should ban a player (I.E savior) It's ashame what happened at the Blizzard Cup, but I don't think Naniwa should lose his Code S spot. The more appropriate response would have been a reprimand or a warning. Maybe adding an addendum to the GSL contract that says that any player that purposely throws a game will be revoked of the GSL Code S spot. However, since what GOM is doing is Ex Post Facto, which means After the FACT.. That there is NO Rule in the contract or game that says that Probe Rushing is a violation of policy of the GSL Blizzard CUP.. Naniwa would probably win the lawsuit given the chance. but really the cost to sue GOM would be prohibitive, since paying lawyers would outweigh the the compensation you get if Naniwa retained the Code S spot
