EDIT: More positively, for all I know she has a lot of potential and will get better in a team environment. So good luck to her and the team. I'd just like to point out that, in UK people are seemingly signed because they are from UK (ie there are better players from other countries unsigned). I don't see anyone whining about that ._.? Neither of those are weird, to be one of the best in a group of people (be it nationality or gender) will give you more chances than if you're better than those individuals but in a group where more people and better people exist. That's just how shit works. Edit: Another great example is Korea, I don't doubt by a second that there are unsigned players there that are way better than some of the signed international players with a decent salary.

SC2 has a level playing field gender-wise, there's no competitive reason for a split to exist. As he said, there are female sc2 tournaments that get coverage, so its good business having a player in your team that can play in said tournaments. Them signing a female player has nothing to do with "level playing field gender-wise".

I know the whole "mascot" idea got floated around earlier, but if this is their way of earning press, then it's not entriely untrue... Just sayin' Oh yeah, she's masters... I forget, how many people rate higher than a low masters? Must be very, very few of them or else this wouldn't be a big deal. In fairness, she could probably beat me in SC2... but then again, I don't claim to be a "pro" and play on a "pro team". Fuck, I don't know why I'm getting more and more phased by this. It's just striking all the wrong chords.

"Huh some team signed some low masters player. Whatever, maybe they see something in him I don't. Best of luck I suppose." "Oh my god this team only signed this player because she's a girl, she has an awful record she must be terrible, this is such blatant reverse discrimination, etc" It's just newsworthy because there aren't many female progamers, so it's interesting to see them. End of story. I would be equally as interested in a story about a team that signed a black progamer even though there's no gender division there.

I think some of the drama comes from "We were looking for a female player, after few months speaking with different girls" on the second line of the thread, and as i said twice earlier, the way they go way over the top promoting it, with the thread title reading as "eSahara adds girl player" on the teamliquid thread list.

And would any team ever live down announcing a new player with a picture of a guy apparently topless next to some pretty flowers? Other than the stupid picture, its awesome to see females getting picked up by teams. Atleast they will have the opportunity to take the game seriously, congrats MaddieLisk I hope you do fantastic
