I saw Desrow lose to a prolonged 1 basing Terran on his Stream.

Desrow had his 2nd Nexus running for quite a while and Desrow macro slipped and he failed to make enough units to hold off a 1 base Terran (I think he forgot a gateway or two) He had a lot of minerals saved up.

The 1 basing Terran smashed him even after Desrow killed some of his pushes... Desrow didn't make enough Zealots to tank for the stalkers and got rolled.

Terrible micro and Terrible decision making/macro in that game (Maybe he was just having a bad day)

How does he get GM when playing like that?

Anyways GL in Korea Desrow...

This post from rei pretty much mirrors my sentiments exactly (in that I don't think he can get THAT much from it, but best of luck regardless):

Do you even know desrow? the reason TL vets here does not like him is because he constantly brags about himself beating big name players, posting replays all over TL without letting his follows know his overall records against all those ppl in his replays that he brag about.

And Chill is right, Desrow should enjoy his time in korea, but he doesn't have the right mind set to acquire enough confident and skill to compete with the best. If he had a good mindset we wouldn't be seeing all these brag blogs.

Oh and for your information, there is such thing as talents in sc2, this talent is the ability to always make the right decision under stress and high pressure situations. None of his10 hours a day 7 days a week practice hours is going to create a high pressure situation consistently.

After said all that, I honestly hope desrow will have a good time, and become better at sc2, tryout the Code A qualifier, but don't give up when you fail at first attempt, keep try and try again.

If you think this is bad you haven't seen TT1 type. At least Juan tried to make a point.

Playing with better players will make you better obviously.

GSL Code S March, Desrow incoming

He won't be playing with better players. Why do people think this?

He has not hit the roof of NA and EU. The roof on KR is much higher. He will simply be playing people the same skill level as the people he was hitting on NA, except better.

Think about it like a literal ladder. Desrow right now is climbing the NA ladder. He is on the 8th of 10 rungs. Pretty good, but their are still more rungs to climb. Now, on the other side of this huge fucking ocean theirs a ladder where people speak a different language have a hugely different culture etc, but their ladder goes up to the 15th rung (. Except Desrow wont be on that 15th rung. He will still be on the 8th. He will be playing exactly the same level of starcraft, except against Korean C Teamers instead of NA B teamers.

!!! my frustration with this thread grows every time I open it

My thoughts exactly!

that said, i feel like with the proper mindset and work ethic, he will benefit from the practice environment there. (who wouldn't?)

There's a difference between not knowing a language and putting in 0 effort.

i know english/ but i cdan write like this too then cause u trouble have undertstanding it cause i just spew words like textual diarrhea / but you cant say antyhing cause i get to use lacdk of english first langauge as my excsuse

He clearly applied 0 effort to making his post readable, so why should I show him any modicum of respect? I think it's pretty obvious he didn't read over his message or care at all whether or not it was going to be easily comprehensible.

Cuz it isn't saying much anyway. I'm with Orb on this one.

Still, hope Desrow gets better. I'm all for starcraft players improving themselves.

Good luck I guess. From what I have seen he doesn't have to skill to succeed in korea, at least for now, but he seems really dedicated.

Does anyone actually have the ability to read such a garbled wall of junk text with lack of any trace of grammar whatsoever?

I mean there's grammar naziing... and then there's when something is written so terribly it's literally painful to read.

There's a difference between not knowing a language and putting in 0 effort.

He clearly applied 0 effort to making his post readable, so why should I show him any modicum of respect? I think it's pretty obvious he didn't read over his message or care at all whether or not it was going to be easily comprehensible.

What the hell?
He wrote out how he felt about a subject, just as you have done, to be fair he is much more informed about the topic than you are, so who are you to disregarde his opinion just because it isn't made in the neatest format?
I'm unsure why you feel the need to be disrespectful, anyone can read what Major has put, you just had the arrogance to highlight that you were unhappy with it, Major made a valid point about something he is knowledgable in and that should be enough for people to listen regardless of illegibility.

what does teamliquid has become people bashing someone cause he is going to korea?, lemme tell you people theres no such thing as talent im sorry but theres not the only thing that exist is hard work / learning process some ppl take longer time to learn something tha other persons in this case starcraft 2, why people bashing cause someone is going to korea?. i dont undestearnd he can do what ever he wants its his life its his choice if he wants to go to korea to become a better starcraft 2 player its gonna happen as long as he practices alot and try to fix all his mistakes of gameplay it happes to everyone anyone can be a progamer with hardwork and right eviroment. playing on NA or EU its awful bad compared to kr practice even if its only ladder, ur limited in practice partnets in eu and na if u go to korea u gonna improve by just mass gaming on the ladder similar effect of starcraft 1 iccup on korean times as long as u play alot, try ur hardest to fix ur mistakes u gonna get better theres no such thing as skill cap the only skill cap is ur own mind if u think just cause he isnt good right now he cant be good with the right amount of practice and correct mindset, its the same for everything as school / sports / university / starcraft 2 / poker / etc, as long as u put ur maximum effort and try to fix ur wrong habits u gonna achive something.
this is why in starcraft 1 the proteams even tough u could suck alot at starcraft 1 they give u over 1 year before kicking u out of the proteam because it dosent take 1 week 1 months its different for everyperson to undestearnd what they doing and how to get better mechanics / undestearnding of the game / and game sense.

so please stop bashing on someone that is going to try to achive something just cause he isnt good at the game at the moment.

Yes you're right. Clearly there is no such thing as talent in this world

LOL

When I read that first line and saw how painful it would be to read I disregarded the rest of his post. How is that unreasonable? If you start off your "paragraph" with a point about how talent doesn't actually exist (which is probably one of the most unreasonable things he could have possibly argued here), I am going to assume that's the main point of the paragraph, such as a thesis. Otherwise I assume he would have started a new paragraph.

Unless you honestly agree that talent is nonexistent in SC2... in which case LOL

The amount of evidence to the contrary is so overwhelming it's absurd

how sad that sc2 has no shield battery :(
