If you read Forgg thread(http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=292300) its almost the same topic and everyone seems so impressed with him after only a few games but after months of Stephano performing well they still dont think hes one of the best ?
Problem is, nobody is saying forGG is the best player in the world, but the original title of this thread was "Here is why Stephano is the best player in the world". The forGG thread's title is "Why forGG looks like ONE OF THE BEST in the world". You see the difference?

You forget Stephano is french, and therefore cannot be the best in the world.
Wrap it up boys.
p.s. im french myself, dont hurt me

Because the topic got edited.
When he first posted it, he was literally saying Stephano is better than every other SC2 player.

Yes. When I first saw the title I thought it's a troll thread..but the OP's tone was obviously very serious =.=

OP = mediocre troll. Secondly, just because someone says they only ladder 3 hours a day and go to bed, doesn't necessarily make it so. That statement alone makes fan boys and hipster stephano fans come to OP's conclusion.
Why isn't this a blog? Or a fanclub? You claim to be here from the old Brood War days, but I don't remember you cluttering BW General with emotional posts.

He did not beat mma in ipl3. Lucky knocked out mma for him. 2-0 boxer was notable if not for boxer returning the favor a month later at mlg orlando. I'm all for supporting an up and coming player but this OP is a bit overly far fetched and exagerated. Better than nestea my ass.

He's good but he's not OMG BONJWA PLS HAVE MY BABIES

We should keep a count of all the nationalities posting in this thread and their reaction. Hilarity will certainly ensue as some citizens would be more likely to be rather bitter about the OP. I am wondering why ... ^^
|
you changed your original post OP so for you first post: Stephano, although a good zerg, is by no means the 'best in the world.' hell, MVP and Nestea have been/were dominant for months, and they aren't considered the best in the world anymore. Stephano was successful because his style of play was unknown, so he steamrolled. But these days players have gotten more and more used to his style, such as Sheth, Naniwa, and Cloud, and they've begun finding ways to beat him. until Stephano can take out the best zergs, the best protosses (whoever the hell they are right now...) and the best terrans on a CONSISTENT basis, he will not be even considered the best player.

Waw, gg OP, that's a successful troll.

Being deemed one of the best in the world does not equal wins or runner-ups in every tournament. It means your overall level of play is good enough to be competitive in tournaments.
Stephano could definitely be deemed one of the best in the world, even though he has been knocked out early in tournaments like Dreamhack Winter 2011 and MLG. It's all about your own personal preferences in this case.
Starcraft 2 is one of the competitive sports where I rarely see complete domination through an extended period of time. The overall performance level of competitors is just too tight. Compare it with many olympic sports where you almost always have one or two athletes who are completely dominant (Usain Bolt, anyone?). This also makes for far more exciting competitions.

the fact that he plays 3 hrs a day and beats guys who play 12+ a day says something about him though, interested to see how he does in the future.
|
This is a great example of 'don't believe everything you read'/'don't take everything at face value'. A number of pros have said that intensive practice doesn't have nearly the same value in SC2 as it does in BW, and Stephano himself has said that in his free time he watches streams, reads, goes for walks and not much else.
The point is, since he went pro, the guy lives starcraft - even if he actually does only play 3 hours a day now (kinda unlikely), he does that after getting his mechanics to a pretty solid level. The things that have made him look amazing - his strategy and manipulation of the game, as well as micro - don't need to be grinded out. Aside from micro, he excels in areas that develop largely from thinking about the game and studying it. Nestea is probably the same, he just doesn't mention his practice schedule.
At some point he's probably played as many games as other top pros. Just because he doesn't do so anymore doesn't make him a prodigy, or say that he's better than anyone else. He's just really fucking good at the game, as is any top player.
Practice time is irrelevant. If you're a full-time player, you're a full-time player - he isn't getting a doctorate on the side. This is just over-hyping.

He doesn't play 3 hrs a day...his stream time alone exceeds that... Please stop spreading this wrong info any more...

his stream time never exceeds 4 hours.

fOrGG stomped through code A, going 2-0 against opponents like July and Polt, with very one-sided games. He is also known to many as a very competitive brood war pro. Stephano has not played in any tournaments with competition levels near GSL. Please, don't compare Stephano to fOrGG.

People are just arguing for arguing. It's your opinion and it should be respected. But why isnt it in blog ?
