So many people have watched the gaming house tours that artosis and others have done in Korea, and many people have probably noticed that they all have very similar chairs. The chairs are the ones that look to be really comfortable office type chairs with headrests.
After these tours were posted, I went looking to find a chair of this type, the problem is that I was almost completely unable to come across one anywhere that was outside of china or Korea, and ended up settling for something that was less than what I was looking for from a local office store. So this got me to thinking of how much I would have actually been willing to pay to have one of the chairs like the ones seem in the pro gaming house tours. So that is what I made this thread about I'm wondering how much members of the community would be willing to pay for a chair like the ones seen in the tours, and also the type of interest in chairs of that type.

This is really just a discussion thread and feel free to post whatever about the subject!

Maybe I'm an idiot but what exactly is a "bang" chair or makes a normal computer chair one?

Think the most I've ever spent on a computer chair is 250. Current one is the nicest I've ever had. If I had tons of money to blow Herman Miller makes some chairs that look completely amazing

Ah, well looking at one of the vids those look like they could be nice. I don't lean back as much as I probably should. When things get nuts I get closer to the monitor. So, not sure I'd make full use of the headrest and such. But provided they were good quality and they were sold in common stores so you could test drive it with your ass before purchase I could see paying 300ish maybe?

A good office/computer chair can cost a fortune. I once googled the cost of the chair I have in the office cause I liked it and wanted to get one for my home. It was £1000+ (~usd1500).

Big companies pay for amazing chairs to cover their asses and not get sued when you get a bad back. These chairs shown in the video might represent good value for money but I doubt they are anything that amazing. Sc2 teams prob don't have the cash to throw around like big corporate do and less likely to get a lawsuit

They look nice. If I needed one I could see paying ~$200 for one. I don't need one though, as I have a $400 chair (my mom's old work closed so she got two of them and I claimed one when she brought them home). You would never know though since I've completely wrecked it (snapped an arm off, worn it out etc.). It's not a flashy chair but it is designed to be really good for your posture.

People often cheap out on office chairs. If you invest in a good one it can last you a lot longer than you would think and still be comfortable. You will often hear people ask why a person would spend a large amount of money on something as simple as a chair but an easy response is if you use it every day and want it to last you are better off investing in something good. Mine that I talked about above is over 13 years old, and even though one arm is held on with rubber bands, it's still insanely comfortable to sit in and all of the mechanisms work perfectly. I may get the foam redone on the seat though, it's getting kinda worn.

if you sit on your ass all day, it's worth at least like 300+ for a chair. get a dope one with the mesh on the back/bottom so it never wears out.

Why would you buy a chair you havent even sat on? Not saying they look uncomfortable but theres better money sinks than trying to get a chair shipped over from korea without ever having sat on it. Especially considering that it would be expensive because of the shipping and there isnt much novelty value to it cos its not even branded by a team.

The poll questions were: would you be interested, and how much would you pay for one. I am definitely interested, and I would pay good money for a new chair, but I would want to sit on it to test it first. Who said anything about buying one before trying it?

And I think you're missing the point slightly... we're not after them because they're "magical starcraft chairs" and they're a novelty item, we want them because they look fucking awesome comfy. That's it.

Here's what I use:

http://hermanmiller.com/DotCom/jsp/designResources/imgSearchResults.jsp?prodId=8

I wouldn't trade that for one of the chairs you're talking about for anything.

Edit: Every employer I've had since 1996 has provided Aeron chairs at work. They're pretty damn comfortable.

Edit 2: Mine was about US$850, so I guess that's out of the range of the poll.
