My computer doesn't like it. I can usually run high/ultra without any lagging or stuttering, but changing it to this has introduced random stutters. It definitely looks good, but nothing really drastically improved.

imo best way to play the game is with everything set to lowest possible.
many pro gamers use this setting because it's easiest on the eyes to distinguish all the units and everything looks clearer.

simplifiedCloaking=0
simplifiedShaders=0

set those 2 settings in the variables text and you get this major improvement on forcefields as they are kinda hard to see on lowest shaders

I agree FF is to clear on stock lowest. Does anyone know how well these settings will run on a GT220? I would try it myself but I need to reassemble my computer first.

Anybody know a good way to make cloaked units easily visible on low graphics settings? I use low with all settings, but I have trouble seeing where cloaked units are.

Okay, I'll tweak it some more:

1. I'll turn off simplified shaders to fix Forcefields and Cloak
2. I'll lower the CPU intensive stuff.
3. If things are too dark, you can tweak gamma settings in-game

BTW, my setup is im on an AMD890GX Mobo with onboard HD4290 graphics and a Phenom2 1090T. So my pc is kind of strong on the CPU side but weak on the graphics.

Yeah, but it actually makes your own cloaked units more easily visible, especially observer.
All your teeth should fall out and hair should grow in their place!

Is there option to enable, to let me see enemy cloacked units better? i play on lowest settings, and i can hardly see observer riple(i notice it only if know observer is there.).
i putted on simplifiedCloaking=0
simplifiedShaders=0
hardly changed a thing.

Wow this is great. I always wanted to have real shadows but with the less cluttered look of low. Only problem is my comp seems to like do some odd FPS spikes every once in a while which its never done on any other setting before. I think it's getting kind of confused...

@Danny J, next time that happens, post here exactly what you were doing or take a screen shot of where specifically it happens.

It might have to do with watter effects or fog effects somewhere in the map. Lets try to tweak it from there. What's your setup BTW?

Still think it's better to explain what each options on the variables do... Granted that Blizz really simplified that txt file but there are still some dark lines as i'm unaware of what they exactly do.
But yeah the guy on the 1st page nailed it pretty much everything you need to know : set everything on low except simplifiedcloaking/shader on 0.
