Um, you seem to have some weird misunderstanding of how things work in pro sports.
If you think this is a big deal then go talk to the Indianapolis Colts who sat all of their starters in a game they would have crushed against a division opponent which actually caused the Houston Texans to not go to the playoffs.
This game meant nothing and this poor kid is getting reamed.
Maybe people are on edge in Korea because of the actual scandal (Savior and co) but this is ridiculous. You have a right to leave or forfeit a game at any time as a player and this stupid moral police bullshit is way out of line.
If you want to talk about what what GSL should do to remain serious it's ENFORCE THE RULES AS WRITTEN, not come up with some enigmatic moralist argument. Yes I realize the team made this decision but they shouldn't have, they should have let the GSL decide if this kid had to give up his spot.
You know Idra quit a game he still could have won. Everyone here has seen the video. Guess we have to ban Idra from any future MLG events until he learns his lesson.
Oh wait, that would be really stupid.
You cannot compare american football that is one of the most injury prone games to date to a game where physical injuries are very nil. Sitting your starters when you are guaranteed first seed and home field advantage for playoffs is benificial for the players. They did not need to win and in no way "threw" the game on purpose. Second and third string players probably played with all their heart since it would be very rare at all to play a full football game.
Couldn't you use the same argument in this situation then? There is absolutely zero incentive for Coca to win that second game since he really don't get anything out of it. However, if he were to forfeit that game, he would get the opportunity to practice this ZvT and further strengthen his ability. There really no difference (at least for my opinion anyway) in football coach sitting their starters and risk loosing a game to get their second string more practice than Coca dropping game 2 so he can get more ZvT practice.
I don't think you understand, playing in tournament games only improves your nerves and it being an internet tourny with low incentives to win hardly helps at all it gives out your reps and builds while it does not let you flesh them out. It is in general better to just practice normally to become a better player. As close as they seem to be they could probably be practice partners anyway. There is basically zero incentive for Coca to stay for the practice.
That punishment seems way too harsh to me. For one, it obviously wasn't planned out beforehand for any real gain, for another there was no betting involved.
Couple of years back, the Chargers were playing the Saints in London. Drew Brees was the QB of the Saints. He started his career with the Chargers and was still good friends with most of the Chargers team. Saints were winning and had the ball with like 10 seconds left. For those of you who don't know football (american) that means that the Saints win.
Except Drew Brees purposefully threw an incomplete pass (toward his own end zone so it was BLATANTLY ON PURPOSE) which meant the Saints gave the Chargers one last chance to run it back and tie the game up, taking it into overtime where they could have won. Of course, the Charger who got the ball got tackled, so the Saints won, but no one saw anything wrong with what Drew Brees did. He wanted to give his former teammates a good shot and the London fans a cool show and the chance to see an epic comeback. Now I know it isn't directly comparable, being different sports and all, but...
So yeah, I don't think these guys needed to be punished like that. They should have been warned and maybe like a week away from the Team House; but what happened seems like they are being punished for Savior's crimes.
this is a major over reaction... this wasn't a serious tournament game, it was one of those for fun tournaments where people are expected to goof around! okay so maybe if you just forfeit for no reason you should be disqualified but it's not matchfixing and cocoa shouldn't've have lost his code S spot, this is a major overreation... players goof off in arena of legends too

Goofing off and breaking rules are 2 completely different things tough.
Any news regarding to Coca? I didn't hear anything since he got banned, but would like to see him play again... Nestea, Leenock and he are the best Zergs in my opinion.
I recall he was entered in a small tournament recently (like a week or 2 ago) but it had an asterisk beside his name and said pending Jessica and Cella's permission. Not sure how that turned out. As for being the best zerg, I'd be skeptical but I would agree that he was looking really promising. Had invincible ZvP, ZvT that was improving at a phenomenal rate, and ZvZ...not so much but I'm sure he would've improved over time.

That series was actually pretty beautiful from Coca, strong roach timing and great fungals on metalopolis. Was so sad to see him leave, since he was getting rather deep every season

Are there any rules that specifically state a player can't throw a game?
People are getting so worked up over nothing. This is a game, nothing more, nothing less. There is no sanctioning body for SC2. If a Cocoa wants to let his buddy advance, great. If Naniwa wants to probe rush Nestea, great. The list goes on.
Now I do understand that Koreans take this game more serious than anywhere else in the world. If they have such a problem with these situations, they need to create a governing body to regulate SC2.
A prime double standard is that one eP guy vs WhiteRa. People cheered for him for SCV rushing WhiteRa. Naniwa does it? He's booted out of Code S. If they have a problem with shit, they need to start regulating SC2 and putting rules in place. Not just creating arbitrary rules whenever they feel like it.

every Game is a Game.when you play a Game you play in and for the Game.what do you mean with "this is a game, nothing more, nothing less'' ? when you play any Game you have to respect It, respect yourself your opponent and others participating to It.You Have To do your best to Win otherwise there is no purpose no sense no nothing...if you don't understand this things or you don't agree then you have a problem.
