The longer you wait, the further it is from the truth. With pressure, and inside information, people are forced to come out to tell their side of story, because people want to defend themselves. The more we know, the clearer is the whole picture.
In fact you'll probably never find the truth if let it settled down and solved behind close doors.

The PPSL is a public event. Gus, the core, and the team made all of this public. Whatever the outcome of the event, good or bad, it will be public.
I understand wanting to keep some things private. To order a complete lockdown on information is a different matter.
I hope Team AZK realize that an information lockdown, at this point, is the worst possible thing for them to do. Without coming clean, they're just as guilty as Gus in the public eye.

I don't think there's any guessing over here since people are pretty much agree that the guy is at fault, now he only needs to come out and clean up his mess so that he can retire early in esports.

There's no denying that he has fucked up. It's likely irreperable by now given how much time has passed since this came out. A clarification post by Gus would likely be received in the same fashion as his "PPSL message to the community", but people seem to forget that there were more people involved, and collectively they can piece together what is going on, before providing a statement to explain what the hell happened.
I wouldn't be that surprised if we never heard form Gus again tbh.

Remember Gus wanted to go on Live on three lastnight, then just to happend to have a broken mic even tho he had a mac bookpro and iphone to do it with. He asked Slasher to go on not the other way around.

No, the technician for the event posted in one of the threads that it was a driver conflict forcing them to have to reinstall the drivers. There was sufficient RAM.
There was sufficient RAM to run Starcraft. Rachel and Justin were led to believe that it was the RAM, as to whoever told them, I do not know.
It pains me to see that almost on every site, computers are being blamed for not having enough RAM. It was enough. It's a bit unfair to the sponsors to be honest.

There's, what appears to be, Gus not sending YYJ and instead sending syckness. There's him not sending the 4 Cube players. There's general behavior in regards to Dox and his streamer, I think he owns KT productions (I don't remember the name), that points to a scamminess. He also held a qualifier for PPSL in-house, meaning only AZK and their friends were allowed to enter. I believe 6 spots in the tourney came from this qualifier.
As for the money, here's the list I know of:
Didn't pay the crew at the event Didn't pay a hotel bill that TGR paid instead Didn't pay Seltzers or Tasteless' hotel bill (they paid it themselves) Seltzer said it was $700 just for her. Didn't pay for the plane tickets Didn't pay the guy who did the streaming (KT productions?) Didn't pay back S2 the money they gave for the HoN event's prize pool
Given that he got the plane tickets in advance, and that the tickets for the Cube players would only have been $1000 or so, I'm thinking he deliberately didn't send them to the event. And since there clearly was money to send syckness, there clearly was money to send YYJ, even though Gus maintained there wasn't when YYJ asked him what was going on. tickets for Cube players being $1000 ???? to fly from Cebu to Manila? you can get those flights for like $50 each from Cebu Pacific, which is a budget airline. Don't know about that... domestic flights cant be that expensive so its highly gus deliberately denied their flights to give his teammates free walkovers in the group stages.
That is definitely what happened $50 Flights and look all this other stuff Gus Blew/Spent money on.... he definitely intentionally denied the 4 Cube Players Flights! Disgusting!

I am sure gus still has male body parts even if they are probably small.

The thing that really annoys me about this whole mess is that IPL and other esports organizers will be a lot more wary giving out money because of this slippery snake who thought he could make a buck but was way over his head. I would like to believe that he's innocent but it seems that he duped and scammed many people a long the way.

Guys, don't worry about IPL sponsoring other smaller events. All they require, according to David Ting on VVV Gamings show (I don't recall the date it aired on, but it was a few days ago) is a track record of successful LAN events. There's another company that runs LANs in the Phillipines, I think it's called Mineske. There is also the guy who ran the Australian qualifier for the PPSL, Dox, who has been running online tourneys for quite a while, and has a plan to gradually run larger and larger ones until they're internationally known.
David Ting said on VVV Gaming's show, that IPL is already in talks with both Mineske and Dox to sponsor their events in some fashion. So many people are saying the PPSL was harmful to SEA. It was harmful to eSports as a whole, and to the individuals who have been screwed over, but it has only HELPED SEA. Now we all know that SEA is there. We know they have dedicated and hard working players who went above and beyond to try and save a sinking ship. We know they are a community that cares about each other and supports each other, as seen in multiple stories and story lines surrounding this event. SEA is simply awesome, and this attention has brought an awareness of them and a sympathy for them throughout the gaming world. The next time SEA puts on a major event, everyone will be watching. This is just the beginning of their story, not the end.

Isn't that a good thing? Along with the tales of winners not getting their prizes in other events, I think a little bit more professionalism would be the solution.
While this may result in more strict qualifications for hosting big events, I'd say this is a good step in making sure the minimal amount of quality we can expect from eSports tournaments be acceptable. We really don't want another event to be Gus-sed do we?

I really like your positive perspective on the situation. It's just damn refreshing.
All in all, we learn a lot of things from this incident. We learn how to approach or organize a new tournament in a smaller country. We learn who is credible and who is not in SEA. As long as we do not forget how this incident came to be, and prevent if from happening in the future, then SEA scene can become better and better.

Dude's one of the technicians at the event and he has already posted how his team has been kept in the dark/betrayed by Gus and no one knows what's happening.
Guy is also one of the few people who had a direct experience with the RAM problems and clarified that it wasn't insufficient RAM just that the drivers had conflicts. Besides if the computers had insufficient RAM, it would be the sponsor/suppliers fault, not Gus's, so in that sense he's not defending Gus.
(and as psyq has said, it wasn't the fault of the suppliers, just that there were unavoidable issues with the drivers)

i'm just really weary of information from anyone who doesn't have a solid reputation on TL from before this event at this point

Is there any prior history known on Gus? I find it hard to believe all of this would only come out now.

Except they don't WANT to come out. I posted a screenshot of a simple Facebook conversation amongst them from their group page (set to PUBLIC VIEW) on TL and they raged. I don't get why they wanna keep it quiet, either you're right and they're as guilty as Gus (and somehow all the blame has fallen on one guy), or since this is a pretty big issue not just in the Philippines, they wanna be part of the cool kids who know the 'insider happenings', which is actually pretty immature (I really doubt this is the case, they should have really learned from IPL by now, especially how vocal IPL has been). Or maybe they just don't know how to handle the situation properly.
|
I'm sorry but I don't trust this new 'AZK' guy that just came in, he didn't contribute ANYTHING, he just rehashed what we all know and then says that the gears are turning and things are happening behind the scenes. From my experience this only goes to show that you have something to hide, furthermore there have been countless other AZK members coming in confirming that Gus is a scumbag and that they have proof e.g. Clive. I remember in the last episode of state of the game, Idra, Incontrol, Tyler and co said that the one thing you don't fuck around with when doing business is fucking around with the payments.
