A new Kespa to solve this issue, is too much. Kespa pretty much control everything, and it eliminates control in this 'business', for everyone but this X organisation. But Something has to be done, to control this, some kind of gamers Union, and yes, lawyers has to be involved. You have a right to know the period of time, in which your money needs to be delivered to you. If they didn't give one, the standard is within 30 days, and if you do not receive money within this period of time, you can basically drag them to court, and if they have nothing against you, since there should be a contract.

Let's not follow the CS path, SC2 is a new gen. If tournies don't pay up, we should bad mouth the shit out of them.

First of all, i´d like to point out that all of you guys definetly deserve your money, especially big companys should be able to pay this almost instantly, because prize money is almost always just a small piece of total event costs that come along with events of such a size. You won 50 Euros at our XMG Gaming Insight SC2 Qualifier last saturday night, which is not even 48 hours ago right now. I got your paypal email adress in the logs and you paypal money has already been sent like all other winners of the qualifiers before got their money and all future winner will. Some days delay are due to the money transfers in the background and after all, it needs to be at least a working day for the guys in the office :D We got all money and support from our sponsors XMG, Gameladen, Need for Seat and Steelseries in advance and will be able to give away that 1500Euros and the Notebook instantly in the final invitational tournament as well. So I would really appreciate if tournament holders gather their prize pool before holding the event itself, even thoug i know it is not always that easy to get some money in advance. So i am totally with you guys, you deserve all that prize money! But after all please point out that XMG Gaming Insight does not owe you money, we pay our bills Cheers Mike Gaming Insight
based on this and a few other posts from tourny people, im starting to think that cloud just wants all his money the money he wins the tournament, which in my eyes is outrageous. cant take anything cloud said to be serious right now

I don't see how this is unreasonable at all. I don't get the money the second I earn it at work. Granted, this appears to be an isolated case.

Surely it would be ignorant to just say it's just European tournaments only as it's just not true. However I skimmed through ever post in this thread and it seems as if the majority of the 'lack of payments/not paying at all' are from European based tournaments, being both large or small.
That's sad to see how much is owed to some of these guys. I wonder when they fly out to a big event like ESL or whatnot do they sign a contract for that event? If not, I think all the pros should rally up and say we aren't playing in the event anymore unless contracts are given out that agrees your payment for placing and when you will get paid.
Stuff like this makes me feel really happy that I'm about to have my masters degree and can just play this game for fun, without stress of 'trying to make it.' Good luck to all the pros in this thread! Hopefully in just a few more years prizes will keep increasing and you'll be making insane amounts of money. Right now it's just too risky.
EDIT: Or pro players refuse to go to events unless you get paid at the event. Cash or Check.

I wonder if tournaments prioritise these payments not only by the final tournament standing, but by things like player/team popularity.

nice to see carmac taking position and posting to this.. even though.. why does esl take so long to pay sometimes? you run tournaments with pricemoney you havent earned yet or what kind of problem is it?

Glad someone made this thread.... I've had similar problems

Have you read the other pro-players who have complained? Open your god damn eyes. Maybe Cloud phrased him wrong with tournaments like XMG Cup and what not, but he has a VALID point in most of the cases. Especially ESL (not IEM in this case).

One thing about IGN Pro League that people may not consider is that we are not just 1 guy with $1000 laying around that we can just dump in someone's account the moment they win a bo5. IGN is a massive organization that we are just one part of, and we have to adhere to all of the federal regulations that are invoked when dealing with paying thousands of dollars to (as far as the law is concerned) international contractors. We have a finance department that must be satisfied with its paperwork before we can give out money. Not only this, but our players were informed that there would be a wait involved when we collected their payment information.
I'm sorry to hear that ClouD, Darkforce, and others have been waiting a long time for a lot of money, but trust me, IGN Pro League has every intent of paying everyone, even down to translators for online qualifiers, what they are owed. =) i have not been paid for ipl season 1

You're misinterpreting my enthusiasm. The whole point of the thread was to raise awareness. And thus far, 3 individuals have given an update on the current status of their payout. Corporate Responsibility.
They are responsible for paying the players. Whether it's within 24 hours or 3 months, there is a responsibility. Though it's debatable when it becomes "unreasonable" to wait x-amount of time.

yes i have and it seems like most of the people are complaining about prizes not being paid out in 2 weeks, i understand some have taken over a year, but thats different from what im talking about. most of the tournaments ppl mention have happened in the last 3 months and i would not expect everything fromt he financial end to go thru in order to pay out players
