Hardly, Moon was competing in GSL using knowledge he was given by MakaPrime, who is a Terran. So if you had an experience coach willing to help you out, you'd probably just play the same race as him to simplify things. This is also why LyN plays Terran.

as long as the other player has advanced notice of what race he/she is playing against, race picking should be fine.

One way someone could possibly fake it is by asking for people with the same names as current BW pros to give this person their email addresses so he could add them. This seems unlikely though.

Thing is, if everyone can racepick, there would be a lot of logistical issues with racepicking. What if another player (say Lastshadow, who actually plays ZvP, ZvT and TvZ) is playing against Morrow? Would it be a TvT then? Or will one player play Terran against Zerg? Who gets to pick their main race?

Marineking was protoss in bw They're talking about people who have played a race in SC2 then switched during their SC2 pro career. Morrow, Byun and Artosis are the only ones I know of. Morrow is kind of hybrid, if i'm well remembered he doesn't play ZvZ. He played ZvZ for awhile, but was notoriously bad at it. He eventually switched back to TvZ because he hated the matchup. All the tournaments his participated in since has allowed him to pick Terran against a Zerg but racepicking shouldn't be allowed in tournaments though. That is bullshit, in a balanced game there is no reason to ban race picking. Thing is, if everyone can racepick, there would be a lot of logistical issues with racepicking. What if another player (say Lastshadow, who actually plays ZvP, ZvT and TvZ) is playing against Morrow? Would it be a TvT then? Or will one player play Terran against Zerg? Who gets to pick their main race?
Why not just randomize it? It's fair for both players if they both enjoy ZvT/TvZ.
