I'm kind of excited to see a few old favorite players from BW moving over to SC2 (most notably BeSt), but I don't think this is such a big deal otherwise.

regarding race switches in bw, by the time the player was good enough that we got to know him, he pretty much has settled for a race already. maybe that could be a reason why there were not many known race switches?
also, and silly things like "oh, I play zerg. except against zerg, then I switch to terran" was unheard of. imagine this would become the standard and he would face another guy playing zerg, except against terran, there he plays terran as well... <.<

...Lock some of the best RTS minds in a room where they just have to practice for 10~12 hours a day and everyone outside their country will suddenly have no chance to compete with them.
These teams are backed by huge companies and if SC2 gets anywhere near as big as BW, then even the need to go to foreign tournaments would dissapear.
This could be bad for the foreign scene as many people would just stop caring about a game where the foreigner/korean skill gap is gigantic, pretty much like BW.

Most of the players that switched to terran always had the most success. Morrow had the most success when he was terran, switched to zerg, not too much success. Gumiho went from random to terran, became a strong code s level terran that took out nestea and is pretty consistent. Byun is another perfect example. He was a protoss by the name of Bleach that did mediocre, but then he switched to terran and made it to Code A finals and became a consistent code s terran until recently.
