It definetly comes from both sides, when you're watching a bw stream there will always be people telling how bad the graphics are etc. It's just a couple of idiots annoying the fuck out of everyone which then evolves into another sc2 vs bw debate -.-

there have been about 12 people who've been trolling the BW section that i've seen, and about 50 BW fans who come to the sc2 section and talk bad about SC2 constantly. now obviously there are going to be some repeats (some of the BW fans were <1 month old account so likely a new account just for trolling). but yeah i've seen alot more sc2 bashing than i've seen "hope bw dies, want bw to die" and i do read both sections.

I'm actually quite puzzled by kespa's decisions atm.
They claim to be still in the preliminary discussions about sc2, yet still they have already provided their teams with sc2 level gear to play with.
What if gom or blizzard don't give them permission, or somehow they end up deeming sc2 not viable, for business/gameplay/whatever reasons.
Those high end pcs aren't gonna be useful anymore, pros cannot play bw on widescreen and win7.
I mean, I think they are jumping the gun a bit too much.
Ofc, it could be extremely probable that gaming gear was provided for free or an advantagious price by sponsors or w/e.

Blizzard refusing to let kespa get their hands on sc2 is/was a good thing at least for the pros.
I love broodwar but some day it will just die off - the fanbase is shrinking on a daily basis, even on TL the BW section is kinda empty 10posts/day compared to 1000 in the sc2 forum. Blizzard tried to kill scbw with the refusal to give them TV rights there was a huge court case that you probably dont remember. People stop streaming/casting/featuring scbw, people stop playing on iccup and switch to sc2...

Why are we even making this a BW vs SC2, BW fans vs. SC2 fans argument?
BW is a great game with a lot of history and a ridiculously high level of competition.
SC2 is a great game that's newer and still developing.
There's nothing wrong with liking either of them. Arguing with people on TL isn't going to change the future of either game. The best way to settle the argument is to just shut up and watch whatever you enjoy more.
We don't even know anything for certain yet, so may as well just wait and see.

I still hate kespa, but without kespa BW probably wouldnt have gotten as huge

Sad news in the sense that BW might be getting an even smaller scene once pro BW players make the switch. But really exciting because hopefully we'll be able to see even more inhumane gameplay from some sick players. Hopefully also, these players will be able to develop the game and discover usage for some of the units that currently are underused (Hydra anyone?  )

What I like about the possibility of this happening is that finally we will get to see Jaedong/Flash/Bisu play sc2 and see where they stack up. Obviously they will not do as well in sc2 as they have in BW.
The reasons for this are manifold, but BW haters are gonna say because SC2 is harder, and BW Lovers are gonna say it's precisely because it's not a hard game that their true talents aren't shining.
In reality both arguments are correct. If either argument were incorrect Julyzerg and Nada would have at least one GSL trophy at this time

Imagine a proleague where they alternated games.. I would literally never miss a broadcast. Some of the top SC2 players on teams with BW players, mixing it up between games and maps and races. That would be the shit ><

Hating Kespa is like hating NBA owners/David Stern. They're the big, bad greedy businessmen who take away from the purity of the sport.
And then when you think about it a bit, you'd realize that it's still better to have an established organizational structure and in-built sponsorship, marketing, fanbase, etc. that allows for the best players to shine, rather than to have tons of disorganized random tournaments.
Yeah, Kespa can be more humane. But from a spectator's standpoint, I care the most about quality of play. And Kespa can certainly give us that because they have by far the best RTS players in the entire world.

This issue is more of a quality issue rather than quantity and it also depends on which forum you check out and when. As someone who checks BW forum more than SC2 forum, for every 1 person who bashes SC2, I see something like 6 or 7 SC2 trolls who want BW to die and all its progamers move on to SC2. The numbers are doubled if there is some news about a BW progaming team or a BW Broadcasting Channel disbanding. Those threads probably still have carpet bans of SC2 trolls in it.
