We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled.

ya, imo you shouldn't go to any gaming website if you dont want spoilers

here's an idea.. instead of trolling gaming sites hoping to not have results spoiled... GO WATCH THE GAME

I have to agree, aside from the massive overhyping/bandwagons, people whining about spoilers is the most annoying thing here.

MLG ended... nothing on TL mainpage. As if nothing happened. GSL finals ended... what do we have? the finals preview. Lolz. TL does plenty of things right, but this isn't one of them.

If other sports had spoilers it'd be laughable. You go to any major sports newspapers website the first thing you see is the results in big letters. The paper ones' have them on the frontpage. Why? because that's what people want to know. Then they read if for more info.

If you want this game to be seen more like other sports start treating it like one.

What is also appaling to me is how TL wanting to increase profit, and for that, they add more adv. space, doesn't listen to this direct overwhelming visitor opinion about something that could be improved.

i'd have to say, i think that spoiler free would draw more people to watch the live events instead of vods, just as it works with television, no one watches vods of the world series, they watch the world series live... same as the superbowl, etc. more live viewers... the one thing with the gsl however, i'd think it would be worth it to wait atleast 1 day before gsl tournaments just because it's so popular and nearly impossible to watch live now adays...

When I go to NBA.com, I look for the day's scores right at the top of the page. I think the whole spoilers thing is absolutely lame and we should start putting tourney results right on the front page and in the LR threads as well. People who don't want to know should just stay away until they watch the VODs.

Or you could accept TL for what it is and what it is not. It is a comunity site and a place where many people look for VODs. It is not a news site. There are great SC2 news sites, it's not like that TL is the whole internet

Uh, well you probably shouldn't be on gaming sites at work anyway.

Spoiler fear is ridiculous. In all fairness, as various people have noted, mainstream sports tend to air during prime time for local viewers, whereas events like GSL often fall during hours unsuitable for many people, such as extremely late at night or during work hours. Thus, a one day spoiler-free rule should be in effect, but everything after that is fair game.

The only legit reason I see for making sure things are spoiler free is the time zone issue. Where as most non e-sports are usually played in close time zones, a game of SC2 might not be. But even then, international events such as the Olympics are international and I personally have not met anyone who complains about Olympic, FIFA World Cup, etc. events like I do in e-sports.

Is it hurting e-sports? Maybe. By catering to those who don't want to be spoiled the results, the after-hype gets shot. Is that big enough a deal yet? Maybe not.

Edit: * Derp * Of course non e-sports are in close time zones. I meant to say that the people who care about the match are in time zones that work well with the watching the event live.

what I do or don't do during my breaks and on my way home is my problem I would say

I personally visit TL most of the times at these times and of course I don't click on a live GSL thread or a "GSL winner interview" thread, but I can (normally) safely use the site without getting spoilered and I don't see a reason to change it.

If people want (and there are willing writers) TL could put the articles on the start page since I normally read directly the forums

maybe by 24 hours from original event time would be "better"?

and seriously people are complaining about spoilers that's been done for a couple of days already too...so...

Honestly, I feel even a 24-hour ban on spoilers would be too much. Yes, most people are not able to watch each and every event live, be it because of time zone differences or because they had other plans for the evening. But, honestly, tough luck, but there's nothing you can do to change it.

If I'm watching MLG in the morning, I can choose to try stay awake, or I can give up and go to bed. But in the next morning, when the thing is over, I just wanna know the the results. It's over. Of course, I could open the VOD and be pretend to watch a live event, acting excited, but that's silly. The event is over, and collectively acting like it's not by putting a ban on spoilers won't change it.

So, yes, I would much prefer to have tournament results on the front page the second the tournament is over.

There are great sites that do news, and do them great -- GosuGamers, ESFI, hell, even /r/starcraft.

Teamliquid doesn't do news. Teamliquid makes review write-ups to pre-events and editorial analysis post-events. And TL articles are great (mostly). Yes, there is a comunity news section, but the site staff just adds user-submitted posts there

For some reason there are people want TL to be a news site, but it's not all the people who want that and the site staff doesn't want that. It is convenient for many people to have a spoiler-free site for discussion and to easily find only information they want to find (like, where the hell are all the VODs for event X -- consider the fact that there is still no place with all DHW VODs). It's not like these people create a huge inconvenience for you

Its hard to have dicussion when you don`t know whether someone has seen a match already. What do we do? Wait 1 week? 4 weeks? 3 months? to start discussing things without having to put the spoiler tag on? I think it is silly to visit a forum this large and expect it to be spoiler free. This isn`t a tv show or movie we are talking about, its just tournaments and matches, and if you care so much just come back after you watch the vods. Can`t have everything.

I know I'm bumping this to this front, but I think the spoiler fear really does take away from being an awesome site. I mean the TLPD on the right side already shows what happened during the finals, but instead of having an announcement on the front page linked to a thread with the LR reports/recap of one of the epic games. It looks like it is just another day at TL and no amazing Bo7 GSL finals happened yesterday.

The front page poll says it all, 7% of the people complain about the spoilers and only another 7% of the people want a spoiler-free VOD page to make up for the fact that they could get spoiled. Either way, I wish TL staff would change the spoiler policy and make some cool content the day after the finals to highlight how epic and groundbreaking it was...and just spoil the hell out of me.
