We are currently talking about this issue in the mod forum. We take this issue very seriously, and want to find the best way to serve those who want faster results, and those that don't wish to be spoiled.

So reddit got a thread entitled + Show Spoiler [mlg spoilers] +
HuK wins MLG orlando
to the front page of /all and it was glorious. Meanwhile on TL, you wouldn't even know something happened from looking at the front page. Its kinda infuriating.

I have always been really upset by people even being concerned about spoilers. I understand you need to watch your vods to get caught up or whatever, however don't go to a community site and not expect spoilers. Use your free time to watch the damned vods instead.

I really hate TL's no-spoiler policy, it makes it really hard to celebrate victories and to get excited about tournament results

An absolutely overwhelming majority wants results on the front page, so is this policy really only for that 7% ? I for one would love to have results on the front page. Take the last MLG, it was really cool, something great happened and I think the community should be filled with articles and news about it. And yet when I come on TL it feels like nothing happened. I have to dig through threads with spoiler tags to find anything about it and still it's kinda.. meh.

EXACTLY!

If you did not get to see IdrA vs Bomber 3 game set... OMG... Talk about EPIC 3 game set. Best 3 game series of the tournament and yet... no update about it... not a mention outside of the live broadcast and maybe page 700 whatever... and that's it. Are you kidding me? That's TvZ at it's finest with great late game transitions and everything.

Also, if you did not see the Finals live... how else do you know who won if you are looking? The thread is already buried on the main screen so you have to click the SC2 tourney's thread just to find it. How easy would it be to have a direct link to it on the front page?

Oh and for those that "hate" spoilers of who won... if you read the MLG Recap (posted in the Liquid team news) or just clicked the MLG Orlando Day 3... you were ALREADY "spoiled"

And about those upsets in the Open Bracket? I had no idea until I checked the end of day report. I didn't get any huge "Player X stumbles in Open Bracket"

This was the perfect Tournament to do a test run. Lots of non-stop matches where if you blinked, you miss who won in which Open Bracket or if you are watching Red stream and not Blue stream... etc...

Yes. TL should really reconsider this spoiler policy. They write such great articles, why not do it live?

Have any big guys on TL commented on how they feel about this? For there to be over 3400 people who voted in favor of this, it seems silly for TL management to not at least comment on it.

It's very annoying to go through all of the one hundred spoilers... Just don't go to tl if you haven't watched it.

The other option is to make a spoiler section on the main page, but have it so that it can be hidden.
If you consider the forum sections/subsections, most of them can be shrunk/hidden.
Making another module somewhere with spoilers that can be hidden by people who don't want to get spoiled would mean everyone could be happy.
HOLY CHECK!

I agree of the op. Big tournaments deserve big, flashy news on the front page, hailing the victor and informing everyone who was awesome enough to win it all. If I can't watch games live I really want to know the results, which are hidden somewhere in the corner, tucked underneath spoiler signs.

so many glorious news.. so little celebration =(

Just one line sentences will do. It's even hard to put into attention the wonderful people at Montreal Barcraft because guess what, that video spoil the results. Tyler said it best though. TL is the best site on earth. Its community is wonderful, the moderation is appropriate. The quality of the reportings are top notch( fully enjoyed all the write-ups of the big tournaments ( the part about lucky was really good in the IPL 3 report) It is the undoubtedly best starcraft community site for million other different things. But for tournament coverage right now, i feel more hype from other sites. Maybe it's a good thing because maybe that's what set TL different then? But seems like that's not what the majority wants and likes and that includes (some) oldies.

to taylors "I agree with the OP. I'm against censoring open discussion of results for the sake of a few odd people who are "victims" of spoilers. Their habits are weird enough for the rest of us to not care about them and they are obviously the minority. "

its a post with unbelievable ignorance ...

you guys start forgetting a few things
in Sport you watch soccer etc you saw your country games and perhaps you saw your championschips etc and its all fine

but in starcraft, alot of the tournaments are in the usa
for europeans that means the tournaments are on times that finals often are monday mornings 3am or 4am

no one with a normal work is able to watch them, same gsl they are on time we are AT the work like 11am etc

europeans would get auto spoiler every event at least the people who have a regular job so this page would be like gosugamers and all the other pages, unable to visit for days until you find the time to watch the vods.

teamliquid is great because its different here ... you guys are going to destroy it and make this a casual website like so many others ...

if you want FLASH NEWS etc go so many other sites ... from reggit to gosugamers everywhere they spoiler its nice to have a place where you can look things, find the vods without getting spoilered.

often for big touranments i use teamliquid to find the VODS (spoilerfree) if the page spoilers everything there is no reason in using spoilerfree vods anymore ...

spoilerfree is only for people who live in usa or not CARE about watching the games ... the people who wanna see it and have to see it on vod because they have jobs ... you screw them !

As long as each timezone has had a decent shot at watching the games at a reasonable time of day for that respective timezone, yeah, throw the banner up!

Edit: Meaning 5 hours or so maximum delay.

First, are spoilers that big of a deal? How many of you watch a game from an important tournament later on without checking the results before-hand? I know the first thing I do in the morning after a big night of GSL, I check the results and if I have time I’ll watch the games, knowing the results beforehand won’t change my excitement about it.

See i cant do this, if i know the result of something or the outcome i wouldnt waste my time watching it. If i know a football (soccer) score i wouldnt watch the whole game to see the outcome because you already know it, it seems wasteful to watch something you know the outcome of.

I understand your point about spoilers, and that when IPL3 winner of IEM winners are known TL should start writting about it straight away then release it within the same day or the following day. But having to wait over a week for updates from something so old is kind of silly and i understand some peoples frustrations.

But i think TL could start doing this just for the plain fact eventually people will not come onto TeamLiquid before watching VODs of games/tournaments. You wouldnt load up a Football Site if you didn't want to know the result of a match, you just avoid everything until you have watched it.

Yeah I don't mind being spoiled on the frontpage either. But then again, I'm not the person watching VOD's. I watch everything live because of the hype and excitement. If I can't watch it live I just check the results when I wake up so getting results and tournament winners show up in my face the first in the morning when I goes to Teamliquid does not affect me.

Finals MLG monday morning 3am, for europeans with work it means they cant watch it before monday 6pm (after job done and you arrived home even before eating something) and sorry to say this but this are 15 hours 5 hours would mean nothing there is just normaly no way to watch games 3am and there is no way to watch them before you finished your monday job and finals are mostly sundays ...
sure everyone can watch a final saturday to sunday night 3am but when you have to go to a job at 5am, monday 3am its a bit ... harsh

thats exactly the points, spoiler would only help people who not even care about watching the vods ... and sry to say but then you can go in a tread and read it
is it to much to make 1 click to see results ? you have to destroy the fun of people who wanna watch the vods ?
who even have problems then find the vods because spoilers everywhere ?

For the people complaining about timezones, I follow plenty of sports overseas and when I wake up in the morning the first thing I want to do is find out the results of the games. Just look at the olympics, you never see people get mad when its on the first page of the newspaper. I know Starcraft is not the olympics, but its the same kind of thing to me. If there's a tournament, I want the results, if I can watch the game thats a bonus, but if i can't I want to at least know/feel like something happened.

jaeh but this will hurt TL as whole community as well since i normaly every day check TL and if they make spoilers its like you can only watch it after you watched GSL MLG NASL every event you have to.

like from all events in past days i am back 2 weeks with NASL and its fine, i can watch vods.

no one really want to see vods when you know results as you said its like watching soccer with the knowledge of the result.

why not make a switch on page from SPOILEr to SPOILERFREE i dont know but it sounds so silly to destroy fun of half to make the other half have 1 click less ...
when there are SO MANY pages who spoilers everything (gosugamers reddit etc etc) you really need this to be informed ?

this destroys the sense of vods totally cause i cant imagine people wanna watch vods they know the results ...
olympics stuff etc ... its more about the results tehn about itself i rly cant imagine the boring time watch the stuff 12 hours long but if you have a great game of starcraft you want see it and not hear about the result ...
