spoilers on TL frontpage might mean for me that I drastically reduce my time reading TL since I normally read TL during work breaks and on my way to work/home

Like the overused sports comparison, it would be completely ridiculous to think of any sports coverage website or TV station to appease to keeping things hidden to those few who want to go onto their PVR to watch the taped game. Yes, because it's extremely uncommon to watch a televised game on tape, but it's very common to watch vods. Compare the viewer numbers of live streams vs. vods. But I don't really see the point of arguing about this. If its true that the vast majority doesn't care about spoilers, it's obviously preferable to inconvenience the few (into avoiding news sites til they've seen the games) than to inconvenience the many (by shutting them up about results). More importantly, the OP already suggested the solution: a spoiler-free vod portal here and news/forums that openly discuss results there. Or would that be hurting e-sports?

I do agree that not hyping up championship wins might be detremental to the esports scene. After watching an important sports event, I love to go to espn and see the results on the front page because it brings a sense of significance to the event. It allows for instant reaction and story to place. If i had to wait two weeks for a story on the front page of espn about a championship, much of the excitement and curiousity would be lost. No one can get excited about a two week old event. I feel if TL posted results on the front page glorifying championship resulst it would help hype the scene and generate a greater feeling of significance for each event. Something that is very imporant for newcomers to the sc2 scene especially

Offer the ability for people to opt-in to spoiler content on front page. Otherwise, they are defaulted to non-spoilers.

No, the other way around would be better. Casual visitors need to be spoilerd. Forum veterans know how to find the non-spoiler button.

It is impossible to take in all of the SC2 that happens and I personally want to know what is going on which is why I come here and am often frustrated by the slow review all for the sake of not spoiling games.

Im not saying I am against seeing results placed on the front page, I am just trying to play devils advocate. THIS. In Brood War everything was in Korea. MSL / OSL / Proleague. Not everyone had / has the luxury to stay up all night and watch sc (as much as I really really want to) due to the reality of life, school or work. This remains true for GSL for many, and for a majority of the community, SC is still just a "hobby" or a "passtime". This makes it damn hard to keep up with everything. I try to watch as much as I can, but for example I am still behind on GSL. I checked the first three recommended games for the ro16 for each matchup and am totally siked to watch those games, when I get a chance. I watched the last OSL finals two days after they were aired, when I had the time to sit and enjoy the games in all their glory. I woulda flipped so many fucking tables if I was told or read that + Show Spoiler + Jangbi I like the spoiler idea, and I say TL should just leave it as is. If anything, have a banner on the main page linking to the threads with the spoilers (but they already have this mostly so its good the way it is)

Why would you read the comments before watching the match? There is not one valid reason to do so, and if you get spoiled via that, you're dumb. LOL yes this. That always makes me laugh to . Personally I don't care either way if TL announces it as I personally if I don't watch it live I check the results and see if the games are worth watching .

People going to watch will also see spoilers right next to the links to view the game. With sports you normally watch live on your TV and then afterwards the pic can go anywhere online. That said, everyone is pretty uptight about it for almost no reason.

However, personally i think the spoiler policing is a bit silly. The major LAN events i watch live as much as possible, and for the few exceptions i simply avoid sites like TL until i've watched it. For other stuff i go check liquipedia or the live report thread... i don't have infinite spare time, so i have to cherrypick which matches i'm going to watch... spoiled results are rather useful in that respect.

I want to avoid spoilers at all costs, but most of the time it's just not possible and that sucks. There really should be a spoilerfree VoD page somewhere.

First, are spoilers that big of a deal? How many of you watch a game from an important tournament later on without checking the results before-hand? I know the first thing I do in the morning after a big night of GSL, I check the results and if I have time I’ll watch the games, knowing the results beforehand won’t change my excitement about it. That's what you do. Earlier this year when I hadn't yet bought any GSL tickets I too would check the results (since I wouldn't be able to see the games anyway except for the first set). Ever since the super tournament I bought them all, and I try to watch the VODs as soon as possible after I get home every day. (I'm in Sweden, so GSL airs at 11am for me) Until I finish watching (and sure, if it's one of those code A days with 8 Bo3's I might skip forward a bit during some games) I avoid reddit, and try to not glance at the Fan Clubs section on the left part of TL front page. edit: At the moment it's completely possible to avoid spoilers for GSL and most other tournaments. It's imperative that teamliquid.net remains spoiler-free though, since this is the HUB for finding LR threads, links to streams, links to schedules, brackets, what-have-you. Sometimes I like to open up the LR thread even when the event is already done, and try to read it while I'm watching the VOD's. Sometimes during MLG (where the late-night games end up being broadcast at 5-8 AM in Sweden) I want to watch the final games of the previous day, check Liquipedia, check the open bracket results, check a fanclub etc etc. All of this would be taken away from me if there were RESULTS on the front page. Instead of asking for a spoiler-free VOD page, I'd like to see instant news articles the moment a big tournament finishes, with a spoiler-free title and no pics obviously. Why? Well, the damage done to a person who wants to watch the VOD's without spoilers being spoiled is much worse than the minor inconvenience to someone who wants to know the results having to click an additional link.
