This kind of talk is useless, there isn't a true active "A" teamer that has switched over yet from BW (someone like Stats, Zero, Jaedong, Jangbi, etc) that was still in his prime when he switched. However, MVP is probably the closest we got to that.

How come we don't see any Starcraft 64 Professionals switching over to Starcraft 2?

anyone who is comparing mvp to forgg you can actually just ignore, because it's clear they didn't watch either player when they played bw. There is no argument between smart people here.

This is true. My friend said ForGG is more accomplished than MVP, but at the time of both of them leaving bw, MVP was slightly better. He said after his 2008 title win, he kind of fell off and became a middling player for a middling team. Compared it to fruit dealer's decline although nowhere near as drastic.

Is Jaedong really considered to be just A class now? Does that mean S-class is just Flash? Though you're right, everyone who has switched I wouldn't consider A class at the time.

i don't think he meant it like that lol

forgg was an a team because he was not on the b team. That means something, even though he maybe didn't play on tv so much near the end of his career.

Actually ForGG was an active A-teamer of the modern era who was better than MVP even at the time of retiring. Nada won his last SL in 2006 before the modern era (post-savior) started.

Well the problem is people are comparing someone's entire career and history instead of comparing their play at the time of leaving bw. Smart people know at the time both left bw, mvp and forgg were at a similar level.

I usually say that to be considered "the best" in Starcraft you need to prove it over numerous tournaments over time, but I make an exception for ForGG, since he beat the two people most would have considered the top 2 at the time to win the tournament. He was the best BW player in the world during his Arena MSL run. That is a contender for toughest road to a SL championship in BW history, He beat Flash (The best terran at that time), Jaedong (the best Zerg and the previous MSL champ), Kal (who was one of the best Protoss at the time, he had made the previous MSL finals), and Sea [Shield] (one of the best terrans since for ever). I still have no idea how ForGG managed to level up his game so much during that tournament and then fall to a just-ok A-teamer (the terran favored maps in Arena explain it a bit, but he Beat Flash and fucking 3-0ed Jaedong).

As has been proven numerous times in BW, players who were once top leval always have the potential to get back to that level after even the deepest slump(Nada, Fantasy, Jangbi, Stork, Julyzerg, Effort, Bisu) and I always hoped to see the same from ForGG in BW. Hopefully he has big success in SC2 and I'm glad to see he joined oGs (my favorite Korean SC2 team).

A-teamer and A-class are different things btw. You can be S-class and A-teamer (Jaedong, Flash, Bisu etc..). Just wanted to point it out.

This made me lol really hard. That was the first time I played StarCraft and I actually liked it quite a bit at first. Then I got Age of Empires 2 for the computer, and I thought SC was just a sack of shit and I didn't care about it, thanks to SC 64. Then came 2005-2006, and I find out BW is actually super awesome and is a pretty big deal...

Well, that's what happens when you don't have much access to the Internet until you're 14, and your elementary school friends either didn't game too much or played random console games or RPGs. :'(

Weird thing to say considering how forgg qualified for the Ro8 in the MSL more recently than MVP did, although admittedly MVP's kill list (Bogus, Effort twice, Best, Stork, Baby, 1-3 vs Flash) was more impressive than forgg's (Puzzle [yes that one], July, Zero, Hogil, Free, hero, 0-3 to Flash).

Yeah, keep in mind that ForGG was an integral part of KT at the time he retired, back in January. He was hugely important to their run to the finals in the 09-10 Proleague season, but had been slumping since the start of 10-11. Still, he was getting played most matches, and KT's line was really hurt when he left.

Easily the best BW player to switch so far. MVP might have become better had he not switched, but ForGG was an accomplished player in a prolonged slump, whereas MVP was a newly rising potential star.
I cheer for underdogs and Flash

My plan is to take my friends N64 and copy of StarCraft 64 to IPL 3 in Atlantic City and try to convince some pro's to play it.
