MVP, Nestea, MC, the players who have dominated GSL, they weren't BW pros, right?

None of them were top BW pros, they were all B-teamers and practice partners. Name one A-teamer who has switched and lived up to the hype.

The point is that BW and SC2 are different games. Success in one does not guarantee success in the other, and names like MVP, Nestea and MC PROVE that. They don't disprove it.

Umm, Mvp was an A-teamer. And seeing as he's the best player in the world, i'd say he's lived up to the hype.

Dude, he was an A-teamer in Woongjin as a Terran. That speaks volumes. That's like saying he was China's star cricket player.

In any other team, he'd have been mid-tier/B-team IMO.

Edit: Having said that, I agree with you. forGG will rape SC2 but probably won't be insta-bonjwa or anything.

Dude, MVP got to a round of 8 in the April-May 2010 MSL losing 1-3 to Flash, and beating players like BeSt and Stork. While I would say an in form ForGG was better at BW, MVP was by no means a B-teamer at his peak.

MVP hit his peak right before he retired from BW.
Beating Stork, Best, Baby and taking a game off (god mode) Flash in a series.

He was pretty damn good when he switched over.

Stork and Flash? Oh shit. Well then, I guess perhaps MVP is doing really well in SC2 cus he was already really good (reached at the end of his BW career).

He took a game off Flash... then proceeded to lose the next 3 to him. MVP was 3-7 in his last 10 games. So really good isn't the right word. MVP was indeed peaking near the end of his BW run, but I don't think he ever poked into KeSPA top 30. ForGG, meanwhile, hovered at 15-25 during his last few months playing BW, though he was going downhill.

MVP solid B teamer. ForGG solid A teamer and Starleague Champion. Do the math and you have SC2 bonjwa. But seriously I dont expect ForGG to be instant bonjwa but I do see him dominating within months.

Before Retiring, fOrGG's most recent win in a single game against a S class player was EffOrt, where he lost 2-1 for the 2010 WCG Korea. His most recent win in a series against an S class player was 2 years prior in the WCG 2008 Korea 2-0 against Bisu, or 3-0 Jaedong and 2-1 Flash in the Arena MSL approximately 2 weeks prior to that.

Looking for the same stats, MVP took a game off FlaSh 3 months before retiring, also defeated Snow (a S class PvT player in his 2nd most recent game). His most recent series victory against an S class player was the GOM Classic 3 2-1ing stork

Basically MVP came out of brood war 'hotter' even if marginally, and while the results may not look bad, it needs to be remembered that they were playing against nothing but the best players of BW, so having a W/L over 50% meant you were incredibly good in the hypercompetative field.

That said, i believe fOrGG will perform greatly (probably superior to MVP) given that his Timing Attack style will mesh greatly with SC2. Whether or not that means he will blow everybody else out of the water, we'll have to see.

Of course after typing this i realize that when you said 15-25 you meant KeSPA rank and not W/L over the last 40 games >.<

I consulted my bw elitist friend and he told me at the time of switching, MVP was at his peak and a little bit better than ForGG who was washed up and on the decline. He told me ForGG was part of the old generation.

We have to factor in that forGG moved to KT therefore his skill level dropped.

oh, yeah, lol. I unknowingly drew the comparison between the two. Just wanted to note that MVP didn't exactly come out of the gate red hot, but somehow felt compelled to add in a little tidbit about ForGG since this thread is about him.

Still, ForGG had a pretty fair share of workload in team-league, especially when he was the vanguard in winner's league 09-10 where he started with a kill and then Flash mopped up. I can't, for the life of me (and proudly wearing woongjin tag) remember the last time that MVP was critical to anything, and god knows I love that guy and would image macro the *kaboom* fuck yeah mvp if it weren't banned on TL.

I consulted my bw elitist friend and he told me at the time of switching, MVP was at his peak and a little bit better than ForGG who was washed up and on the decline. He told me ForGG was part of the old generation.

Your friend is retarded sorry. ForGG won a starleague. He used to be a very solid A-class player and was just a better bw player compared to MVP. There is no doubt that ForGG is the very best bw player to switch over to sc2 currently.
