I guess you can say that ladder run, at least with that high win percentage and many games played kind of transitions well to the tournament play after all.

He's young, so obviously he thinks he's just going to spend a year on progaming "to pay for school." When the year is up, he will reconsider. Even if he does quit temporarily, it'll weigh heavily on him as long as the scene is still going strong.

Pretty sure he won't quit in a year. This is the guy who signed a contract with Complexity, then changed his mind the day of the announcement. He'll be around for a while.

Funny is that he is the only foreigner with a high win/lose rate, performing that high on events too.
Players like Happy, Demuslim, BratOk and too a lesser extent nerchio (in terms of high winrate) dont seem too perform as good as there winrate's say.

always said lings are overpowered , especially with the techswitch being 150 minerals and not 2 raks + 5 tech labs ^-^ or 1 factory and 2 tech labs. Mass lings on ladder have another bonus, you win by lagging 20% of the people there. (higher in lower leagues lower in higher ones xD). But mass ling also got better since terrans forgot about the +2 armor.

I am not to serious here, lings are bad uncontrolled, but with a good control they are evil (and still a bit below marine control, but thats the melee unit bonus.)

Is there any place I can watch the w ay Stephano uses lings? :3
Link please.

I have to say I had my doubts about him but winning IPL is pretty impressive. He certainly has all the things going for him right now.

Don't spoil the results of IPL in this thread guys, hopefully you can edit your posts. Some guys in Europe weren't crazy enough to stay up till 5AM to watch everything. Some don't know where Stephano stranded.

I don't see any reason to come here when you know Stephano was with the last 4 or 8
Even seeing this topic suddenly be bumped and on top of the threads all the time probably means he won.

Just read through the last 10 pages of this thread, it's hilarious with all the hater reactions "he hasn't proved anything, so therefore he can't possibly be good, you suck at judging skill"

Very impressive run. The EU grandmaster ladder is no joke, and no matter how much you want to qualify the run by saying it is only ladder; a 64-2 run at the top of the EU ladder is very impressive. Whether this will translate into results is up in the air of course, but that's a very dominating performance.

Totally agree. I mean you see people like White-Ra have some loss streak when laddering, but going almost 60 games without loss means he knows every build out there. He wont be surprised by cheese or anything. You could see that in IPL as well, he would adapt to anything.

I think he is another breed of player we havent seen before, the way he plays seems different.

When he was talking about "his plan" to play just one year He seems very moved...look at his eyes...

I bet he was very sad to say that...

Hes an extraordinarily talented player. Especially for the fact that he only started playing 6! month ago... I remember the homestory cup, where he still was very unknown and now wins a major tourney... Im not surprised he's a student of medicine.

I don't know if I'm the only one that heard this from Stephano: "If it goes well and I win money I'm going to keep playing of course". He said this on the panel before his semi-finals.
Getting a huge fanbase will probably help too, so lets cheer and stop worrying!!

And he only practices 3/4 hours a day... Seems he's genetically superior at gaming than everyone else.

The thing is, that this guy is intelligent and has a superior understanding of the game. I think that this also helps him with practicing efficiently and zerg is a very different race from the other two races. I think zerg is the most difficult race to learn, but once you can defend against anything the sky is the limit. I don't think that Stephano would be as good with the other races, where he'd have to spend hours refining builds.
Almost everything he's doing is smart, his decisionmaking is reliable and he is aware of the dynamics of the game. I think it was HD who also said how smart Stephano is.

Yes Stephano is a smart guy but for me his decision making shines when it's about deciding if he should engage or not and how he does it.

He had one of the best zerg control i've seen even before he started to play full time and now that he is training like a madmen i can't imagine what tricks he will reveal to the zergs

Not sure you have to pay to go to med school in France. I'm even pretty sure you don't have to (except if you take lectures outside).
But Anyway I think he will see how it is going before deciding quiting progaming (you can't really plan on doing sth else on the first year of med), it's not like his high school knowledges will be of any use for the med school.

His ladder run really didn't prove much anything. I doubt anyone argued that because he hadn't proved anything, therefore he couldn't possibly be good. It is such a dumb argument that only someone who thought his ladder run proved everything could come up with it. Anyway, now that Stephano won a tournament and proved that he indeed is very good, it shouldn't be a surprise that a lot of people are not claiming the opposite. I mean, he did what they required him to do. I don't see a problem.

Dunno where you heard that but he definitely not started only 6 months ago.

I hope he isn't.
He's much better off going to med school than playing SC2
