Honestly, who cares about the way he plays. If every Terran played the same way this game would not be nearly as interesting to watch. How fun would watching scbw be if every terran did flashes macro build? Exactly, not fun to watch. It is ridiculous to say that a player is not top caliber just because of his playstyle. We can use Flash as an example, sure his builds are criticized from a spectators perspective but who is also the worlds #1 Terran and holds a 70% win ratio? The fact that polt can play his style which you say is "very all-inish" and still win with it is impressive enough because his competitors make builds to counter it and still lose. MKP aka: Clare, on Brood War, was known to be a cheese player (Mainly one base play unless forced to expand). So, it is only natural for him to play the same way in SC2. Hate the game not the player because different styles is what makes the game competitive and interesting to watch.
Also, 4-0ing MMA after he won MLG is a pretty big deal considering MMA is talked about far more then polt.

A lot of people who go to top tier universities pretty much spend most of their time in studying/career related activities. Polt's gotta be some kind of god to spend so much time on SC2 and still do well in school.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic. He is not all innish, he is just aggressive. There is a difference. He's been in Code S for a long time, which is a feat in itself considering all the good players being dropped into Code A. And lets not forget, he is only 1 of 5 people to win a GSL. You have to be pretty damn good to do that.
People underrate Polt because he doesn't have some dazzling play style like MMA or MKP. He plays to his opponents weakness. This doesn't lead to the most entertaining games, which is why I think people seem to put him in the back of their minds.

EG doesn't sound very logical with already a top Terran with PuMa. Teamwise Liquid would be one of the most logical teams with Jinro as only Terran. However somehow I don't think it will be Liquid. mouz would make a lot of sense, because they are one of the topteams without a top Korean. Somehow I think the team he will join Dignitas because they are on of the richer teams, and also still without a Top Korean. But we will have to wait and see....

I don't understand where this myth comes from that Polt is so all innish.
I spose the fact that Artosis seems to have some kind of vendetta against him kind of influences a lot of people.
Polt's worst match up is TvT, because he refuses to go mech, meaning he is stronger in the early game before high tank counts just kill everything, this means that he has to make sure he does damage in the early game, i think that is where the feeling he is a 'timing-attack' player, whereas in reality, he just knows when his bio force can beat his opponents mech force in the early game.
In a GSL where he faces only Terrans this makes it seem like he can only do timings for the above reasons, artosis hating him for not playing mech and hinting that makes him a bad player doesn't help.
Polt is also the best and most solid player stat wise in TvP in GSL, having lost 1 TvP in GSL ever to a DT rush, as far as I know. If there were as many Protoss in the GSL as Terrans, I'd dare say he'd be one of them most successful players ever.
Also it wasn't that he just 'actually starts to make it past the round of 32 a few times'. He won the Super Tournament beating MMA, who was on a deadly streak, beating DRG in the team league to win it for SlayerS and crushing MLG, he also beat him decidedly 4-0.
The reason it seems like people are starting to call him on of the best (even though it isn't a lot of people) is because he is one of the best.
