Pure speculation on my part, but I'd imagine they want him because of their plans for global expansion. Mikis has good ties to the Korean community and is bros with DongRaeGu, the SlayerS guys etc. Somebody like that is invaluable for this kind of venture imo.

At the same time, it's somewhat of a gesture of appreciation as well to be openly telling people 'we'd love to have Milkis as an employee'. Why would there be public dissappointment if he turned down the offer? I'm sure he'll still be translating on stage at orlando, providence, etc regardless if he turns down this offer. To me it looks like this won't really change anything really.

If I told someone I needed time to think about an offer and they then publicly tweeted about it that would be a sure "no" from me. It's 2011 things are done this way. For all we know it could have started out as a playfull thing that none of us know which could have started from some backstage jokes between milkman and sunny. Also bringing the offer to the internet through twitter can/might cause people to try and persuage their favourite translator to accept the position as I've already read comments in this thread saying "take the job" and what not.

He's the best korean translator bar none in sc2. Plus he's a funny troll. MLG needs to fly john out with tastosis to one of these MLGs! Hope to see john at blizzcon at least.
