I want to be clear that you do NOT have to use social media to apply, but if it comes down to picking you or another player for the season 1 tournament, and he is equal to you in every way except he uses twitter actively and streams regularly, he may be picked over you.
However this is only after we determine that you are equivalent in ladder rank and application quality.

Can you explain why non US citizens are not allowed in the academy is it purely a cost thing for shipping them to events or what?

I am positive it is, I mean it does cost quiet a lot more to get someone from europe to america then just in the US, or I imagine anyway.

We usually request that our applicants be at least 16 years old, however, if you feel there are mitigating circumstances feel free to apply and explain those in the application.

That and maybe language/time barriers to an extent.

Enjoyed reading this and hope to see vVv do well with their program :D Glad to see the differences from the last thread, well played vVv, I absolutely appreciate your effort to meet the community, instead of forcing the community to meet you. Laudable.

Please continue to involve the community!
Stream the tourney, stream the lessons, set up a VVV academy stream and encourage students to use it (help them set it up etc).
Give us regular updates and behind-the-scenes stuff, like who's doing well and what problems people are working to overcome.
People like me may not have the skills to make it into something like this, but it is really interesting to follow!

For the first season we want to keep it as simple as possible. In later seasons we may be able to support other regions depending on how this goes.

It is currently our intention to stream all Academy tournaments and clan wars. We also encourage all of our sponsored members and academy members to stream as much as possible. Of course it's up to the discretion of the student to decide whether or not to stream lessons
I like the idea with the behind-the-scenes stuff. What specifically do you think we should talk about? And where should we put this info?

ever thought of a bi-weekly clan war versus complexity academy? would be a fun little rivalry, would give both academies a stronger team atmosphere through clan wars, and would be a good measure of progress for both teams.

But I dont see why it complicates things not being FROM the US, if one has an american account and can show up at the right times.

This was my call for this first academy. We were concerned about budget and cost. We may next time allow foreign players but cap their travel reimbursement (say $400USD). Strictly budget concerns.

I think right now if a euro player does well. They still can't send them to a MLG. Cause its way to expensive. Like it says in the OP. The best performing member of the academy will be sent to MLG. This won't happen if the player is from europe.
I think its more to keep costs down. Plus the hours would be a little harsh on your body if you have school and such, as either you would be playing really early morning or late late night. Again this would make things slightly more complex and make practice harder for European players. This is just my take on the rule though and Is just my perspective as someone who has applied to the academy.
Also I was wondering. Can we get like a quote from a pro player or something as part of our application. So you have references of sorts.

Awesome stuff vVv, I love initiatives like this.

Feel free to add anything to your application that you feel will help your chances (except for obvious NSFW stuff like nudes of hot celebrities or something)

They are telling you that at some point they will reinburse up to $400 usd from travel expenses. So in order to avoid having europeans that would have to put extra cash to go to MLGs that they don't have/ don't want to use on it, they are puttng the "region cap".
So it is safer for the academy team to have players on north america to whom the reimburse would help a lot when it comes to travel expenses, hopefully ensuring that the winner of the seasonal tournament goes to an MLG for example.

Nice changes made, this is much more attractive than the previous thing. Glad you listened to the feedback and best of luck with the academy!
