Hey guys , I've searched the forums and i noticed there is no information on this guy. He has the most unique protoss play I've ever seen. From the replays I've seen of him on sc2rep.com his beaten a list of top players. Can anyone shed any light on who this guy is ? and why isn't he in GSL or tournaments ? !
His understanding of P vs Z is off the charts , games on shakuras he cannons of vital choke positions and uses random combination of units , its epic. Constantly changing it up with tech switches.
Ive been saying this guy is good for a long time now, all of the replays that are released from him are almost always insane macro games, his play is really creative and solid.
haha epic! i'm putting money on it now this guy , will be the next best thing in the months to come. White-ra and his special tactics are nothing compared to this guy lol

Oh man I was wondering who that was.
That was so cute.
It reminded me of when TLO (I believe it was TLO) would attack his other hellions (red flame of course) to kill burrowed creep tumors without scanning.
Not that he isn't a good player, but I would definitely not get too excited or have too much expectations:
1) Replays on replay sites definitely look good because only the best ones are uploaded. Considering the pros play maybe 30+(?) games daily, there will be a lot of games you don't see where their creative play gets roflstomped.
2) Tournaments is a totally different beast from ladder. There is a lot of pressure when playing in the booth. In ladder, this pressure is off and players can do their creative plays.
If you search his name on YouTube, you get a ton of results too.
He's definitely fun to watch, if nothing else. Also, his APM spikes are kind of hilarious. In that game vs. MVP, he was hovering at like 20-40 APM early-game, making me go, "What the fuck," but then it abruptly took a jump to 300+.
I know NEXSickness. I have been talking to him for the last month or so fairly often.
He is one of the best Protoss players on the KR server. He has a understanding beyond what normal people in the PvZ department. I've been sharing some replays he's showed me and it's changed the way people look at that matchup.
It would be wise for any team to pick him up. I see him becoming the next DRG but for protoss
Very nice to hear about him. I'm always for more up-and-coming Protoss players because we seem rather lacking in that department compared to Terran. Hope to see him more soon.
To be honest if you've only seen his PvZ vs Leenock, i would hold off on praising him too quickly. Leenock is rather weak in ZvP. Hes showing improvement, but i don't think leenock's understanding of ZvP is all that great. ZvT he might have the best understanding in the world, yes better than Drg or Nestea.
Though then again, If hes a Zenex member, Means he probably plays with Coca. Who might be the most innovative zerg in ZvP. Chances are this guy is pretty good, im just saying leenock is not the opponent you want, when your are to claim PvZ brilliance.

I get you're trying to Hype a player, but Leenock's ZvT doesn't come anywhere close to Nestea's, and don't even mention him and DRG with the phrase ZvT together.
Zenex guys in general have been wowing me for a while, cant wait to see this guy in code A or anything for that matter xD been wanting more innovative/awesome protosses around
okay I just finished the MVP game and fuk the way he executed that prism drop....flawless!!!!!!!! his technique could use more honing but his strategy was very well done.
I can't understand why you get so excited about someone who 1bases MVP on a blizzard map that is full of shit lulz. I mean he is good ok but Puzzle, sage,YongHwa way better.
I've watched him practice vs. Response on response's stream. Really cool player, one game they had a big base trade and response had DT's. Sickness has one pylon left, Response goes for it with his DTs. Sickness surrounds his pylon with his zealots/colossus, then attacks his zealots with his colossus to use splash to kill the DTs.
He's in the NEX clan but not on the ZeNeX "team" as far as I know, so he's not actually a pro in that sense of the word.
I am really impressed with his play. One of the 1st things i noticed is he does not spam apm at all. Even the other korean's he was playing don't spam it as much as I usually notice. I wonder if they spam harder in tourneys to burn that adrenaline you get from playing in front of a crowd.
He has good strategy and i really liked his gas timings vs leenock and mvp. I has the delayed gas but gets them both same time. I really like his play so far and will look up more info on him. Thanks for the heads up on this guy.

Watch his replays. Watch his style. Puzzle is a chobo compared to NEXSickness. Sickness is known as a amazing protoss.
Though he is not on ZeNeX. He is in the clan NEX. afaik he trains in the NEX house. but not the zenex house

wtf? the map had nothing to do with it. did you even see it? its not the fact that he did a 1 base, it's the fact that his build, strat, and execution was flawless.
On August 17 2011 12:27 akalarry wrote: lol is that really how leenock plays

Judging from some of the army control I've seen him exhibit vP, I wouldn't be surprised. He's really bad at positioning his army well in the lategame against Protoss, and he also dies a lot to early Protoss pushes. His vP is just... really lacking, which is strangely lopsided in light of how amazing his vT is.

He's not trying to hype a player. I would take Leenock's and DRG's ZvT over NesTea's any day of the week, and I like NesTea, dislike DRG's ZvT style (I hate how he trades armies), and am indifferent towards Leenock. (Though I admit I like to make fun of Leenock's rotten luck more than anything else.)
Also, re: Leenock's control groups ... no need to criticize them. Coca doesn't even control group his army most of the time, just the units he needs to micro. I tuned into Coca's stream one day and just saw like nine mutas grouped ... no other units. Was like, "What the fuck?" but he's incredibly good at box-selecting shit.
EDIT: Just finished watching this VOD. You be the judge. (Liked Yoda's ghost harass at the beginning, actually.)

The map is awful I watched the replays the instat they were released in sc2rep cuz I watch only KR and i can tell you its not his build or whatever its only reactions that any toss can do. He saw greedy play from MVP and after he killed alot of his marines he decided to allin from there. His prism play is basicly a follow up because he had only stalkers and 2sentries so he can't break the front with those vs bunkers and mass repair and saying stuff like Puzzle beeing a chobo are you srs ? 1st Rookie drafted in the KeSPA Draft in 2009 is a chobo? Puzzle who crushes 1/1/1 when he wants to that Puzzle is chobo haha don't make me laugh guys. This is not exciting or something new its like watching Kiwi 5gate some zerg and ffing his ramp.

No
Though at this point the only good protosses in KR are MC, Puzzle, HongUn and HuK.
Oh really? You must of seen every single protoss player in Korea play then, care to talk about some of them and why they are not your list. Just because you see these names come up often doesn't make them the best players, sure they're good but saying everyone else is bad? You've go to be kidding me

Man, if you think this guy is overhyped (three pages of on-the-fence speculation about him on TL?), then I'm afraid to ask what you thought of the DRG and MMA hype trains when they were chugging.
But I do agree with you in that we're probably saying too much about him based on a few VODs and replays. Maybe someone should prod Diamond and ask him if he can drag Sickness into the Korean Weekly next time.

if u look at his stats he was like 800 points back on aug 12 and rank 211 in KR but now he is at 600 and rank like 400 something or somewhere like that...
I'm guessing he might have played games on ladder "for real", leading to his sudden spike to rank 211? and then went back to "learning" and testing things out (not playing solely to win).

Holy crap that was some nice play. It looked just like what JYP did against DRG (or at least I think it was that game) a week or so ago, only this time it actually worked.

Oh, was that him that did the juggling on the bottom left of some map (maybe Xel Naga). It was pretty impressive and basically won the game with those 2 Immortals.
NEXSickness isn't ZeNEX, he's in NEX clan, and he's a trainee. Although one of their best trainees. To be honest, in some of the earlier qualifiers, he didn't make the cutoff required to join. (This meant he wasnt even in Code B until the recent qualifier expansion)

As i remember the game was already over, because he got contain on 1 base zerg, and the whole warp prism drop micro was basically icing on a cake that didnt really matter.
if its him then he is staying in "code b" for almost a year hmm.
I'm not sure if you're referring to me when you say "gj commentating it", but just in case you are, that's not me
That would be me casting it. I did that VOD yesterday (16/08/2011) and its fresh out of the Korean ladder. I personally enjoyed that game a lot.
I've watched several NEXSickness games in the past and i quite enjoy his approach to the game. Obviously hes not a top Korean Pro yet but seems to have the potential to fight, at least, for a spot on Code A shortly. Would like to see him in a future Code A pre-qualifiers.

I've watched Sickness play on Korea and he is indeed very good. One of the best NEX Trainees, if not the best NEX Protoss at the moment. There are more replays I've seen that were given to some NA Players such as Future... There is a lot of unnoticed talent on Korea.

Considering he has that NEX tag, wouldn't it be safe to assume that it's Puzzle? I haven't seen any replays out there from Puzzle, so I'm inclined to believe that it's just Puzzle's former name.

Sickness and Puzzle are different people. Like people have said. Sickness has a different PvZ style than Puzzle.
Sickness sometimes I have noticed is even online while Puzzle should be at GOM studio. So its safe to assume both are two different people.

I had actually searched around the internet quite a few times to see who NEXSickness was, and it's actually not a bad theory considering the lack of information. All my searches dug up were threads with titles similar to this, saying "who is this guy?".
To my own defense, there are replays of NEXExcrement out there, which I heard was ZeNEXByun according to the Code A casters. So it wasn't that far off of a theory. Nex = ZeNEX, and at least one player used either an older NEX id or an alternate id.

Why am I not surprised that you're American ROFL
ZeNex is a new team as result of a merger between Zenith and NEX. Many members of ZeNex have chosen to keep their NEX and Zenith ID's but still refer to their team as ZeNex.
Guess I'll be a little more cautious about my use of operators, but the point still stands that a lot of ZeNEX players still use their older IDs. My bad for the lack of information.
I've never seen so much hate for a simple mistake though. Damn, you guys are ruthless! Tough love though..
Great play, but his macro seems a bit off. Like in the french casted game he was at 1000 minerals for a long while and didn't throw down another nexus forever when he was floating the spare cash he couldn't spend. But that seems quite old.

Yeah, his macro is a little messy, from what I can tell. That being said, he's entertaining to watch. Kind of reminds me of Spanishiwa in the "creative" department and the "a bit shoddy mechanics" department as well, ahahahaha.
Hope he does stream, in any case! I would definitely be up to watching him.
Wow, didn't expect Sickness to post here. Hey Sickness, I hope you practice hard and make it into a team Good luck, I hope you stream some games too! I'll watch for sure.
I was bout to mash out why do people not do this stuff more in caps lock but, man wtf the apm required to do that must be insane, imagine if he did that as a proper drop in a zerg base, targeting down the queen first, I love the tricks that are popping up in SC2
On August 17 2011 11:44 GenoPewPew wrote: There is also a replay somewhere where he uses his colossus to attack his own zealots so the splash hits the burrowed units
Thats not that special really. Its a carry over idea from using Reavers in SC/BW to do splash damage to do the same.
Remember DRG? Bomber? They hadn't made an appearance in GSL and were the best of the best. They still are, this kid could without a doubt be next on the list.
Tbh that's not that hard to do. It just requires a lot of one screen focus, that's why you don't see other pros doing it, the apm to reward ratio is too high.
The easiest way is to drop click on your [warpship/overlord/medivac] and right click the unit that falls out to immediately pick it up again. Rinse and repeat.
When you have one wounded immortal like sickness which you don't want to drop you need to click on the picture of the unit you want to drop and again, right click onto it to pick it back up.

o_0 where did he post?
You can check from Page 4 of this thread onward. He was kind enough to show here and show his appreciation for the thread and the VODs.
The guy kinda reminds me of Grrr, not the best mechanically and quite slow apm-wise, but very crisp build orders, sick building placement and overall very intelligent play.
Replays/Stream would be really awesome =) he has a really awesome style, regardless if you think he is good or not. Personally I think he is very good and looks to have a lot of potential!

What do you mean? Casting a replay?
ya, they cast replays of pros and from amateurs as well.
NexSickness is great, but I also wanted to throw some love out there for xHydrax (the caster in the vs IMMVP game that was linked); one of the best casters out there who hasn't yet done a major tournament. xHydrax and Khaldor's replays are often my favorite non-tourney casts on Youtube.
No stream at the moment, right? This guy is absolutely astounding from the replays/VODs I've seen. He probably ranks up there (in my fanboydom, I mean) next to SupermanSG and Huk :3
Apparently SlayerSTaeja commented on NEXSickness in his interview at ttp://www.thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=740908&board=&category=13439&subcategory=&page=1&best=&searchmode=&search=&orderby=&token=
Saying 최기림 (LucentPeace): teaja say "nexsickness level higt but he can not get team so i hope he proteam is joined"
Hopefully this will be translated by a TL translator ASAPly
To translators, his name is Kim San Ha in the article I believe.
I just watched/analysed his PvZ game vs Leenock. Wow, that play really blew my mind. Notable, well, notes:
He goes 3-gate expand on shakuras, with 14 gateway, and double gas taken at 18. Very unusual build but seems very economical and the money always lined up well. I'll be trying this out.
After going 3 gate into a very fast robo and robo bay (without even a forge!), his observer scouts the spire seconds from completion. His response? Double stargate. Well positioned stalkers buy him enough time to get 6 phoenixes out, at which point he kills all the mutas. I didn't even know that response was viable! After seeing the spire so late even! He is able to take a 3rd base at a very reasonable time.
His counter push looks incredibly strong. He caught Leenock droning and expanding hardcore right after the mutas were out (which any good Zerg would be doing) and attacked with a colossus, a bunch of gateway units, and 6 phoenixes. The muta-ling army couldn't do ANYTHING and Leenock lost 2 bases. Incredible decision making.
At this point Sickness just starts adding void rays. A gateway+phoenix+void ray army seems incredibly powerful until hydras and/or infestors are out on the field, so it looked like a brilliant response to the muta opening. He uses stalkers and void rays to focus down the corruptors, and when they're dead, the void rays chew through the roaches and Leenock can't engage.
After 3 bases, Sickness makes double forge to catch up on upgrades. Not something I often see in PvZ.
Once Leenock does start switching to roach+infestor, Sickness already has high templar out and is remaking colossus.
The after feedbacking (feeding back?) and storming all the infestors, the gateway+colossus+void ray deathball looks incredibly deadly. The path Sickness took to reach this ridiculously gas-heavy death-ball seemed really safe and solid!
I'd be remiss not to mention the amazing micro, scouting, and army movement. Not to mention the building and cannon placement at every important choke point.
I have to study more of Sickness's PvZ, it looks incredibly impressive!

OMW, just watched his MVP game and was a wicked elevator move. Also seen another game of him vs (korean- as i cant read the name) terran. Crazy harass and elevatoring. I equate him to a Korean WhiteRa the amount he uses warp prism and special tactics :D.
Watched a new PvZ of his and a PvP match from sc2rep and man is this guy freaking awesome. So wish he could play in more tournaments or we could get more replays somehow.
I really wonder how this guys skill will measure up in a tournament.
he was the "replacement" for the other australian that gus didn't send to the PPSL. it's kinda obvious/suspicious that he was offered plane fair/slot in exchange for playing under team AZK (the same way gus tried to bribe moonglade to play under AZK).

afaik Ziek was the replacement for YoonYJ.
I've heard from various people that ziek paid for his own trip there, and Sickness was indeed YoonYJ's replacement.
I would just like to say please don't pass judgement on this player because he joined AZK. He was added to the team right before all the drama went down and obviously had nothing to do with it.
