▼ A Lim Jin Rok happened in Starcraft 2. If I had to hear about your thoughts? BoxeR - When Yellow retired, it really hit my mind pretty hard. I didn't know if I would ever be able to play in a Lim Jin Rok again, and because I imagined that he would never return as a gamer, I think I got to play in a match that I could have never imagined would take place. Even though Yellow lost, I don't know what would have happened if I lost. I think it's amazing enough that he showed us a match of this caliber in a month. Yellow is really amazing. YellOw - It was a place with a lot of meaning. When BoxeR went over to Starcraft 2, I wondered if a Lim Jin Rok could take place again, and I was uplifted that we got to play. I didn't have a lot of time to practice, but I prepared diligently. But because there was a huge skill differential, I lost embarrassingly. I thought of this Lim Jin Rok a bit lightly, but when I played and I lost, even though I retired, I've gained some competitive spirit. If I gain the opportunity in the future, I'll do my best to make sure there aren't any humiliating games.
▼ Have you considered transitioning to Starcraft 2? Yellow - To a certain extent, I'm not at a stage where I could answer with any certainty whether I will transition or not. When I retired from being a gamer, I packed away all the lingering dreams I had as a gamer, and so while it isn't impossible I'll challenge myself as a Starcraft 2 gamer, it's very unlikely. After I retired, I've gotten some relationships with Starcraft 2 and even got to play in a match. I don't know if there'll be any turning points that will trigger me to transition. BoxeR - We should do this more often. I hope Yellow doesn't think of this as humiliation.
▼ If you had to compare [Yellow's skill level] with your skill level after you played a month? BoxeR - While I might have been one of the top players when I first placed, now things have become systemized and it's really difficult to get to Code S, so I won't be able to say anything concrete unless he plays consistently for over two months. If he's this good after playing a month, then I think he played really well. Because he thinks completely differently from all the other Zerg players in Starcraft 2, I think fans will like him.
▼ Lim Jin Rok were historical moments in Starcraft 1. How do you want Lim Jin Rok to be remembered in Starcraft 2? Boxer - I want it to happen amidst an atmosphere of festivity for the fans. I saw that people fixed Yellow's chance to win as 22.2% when Yellow and I play and learned what the fans had wanted. In Starcraft 2, I hope a rival format happens again, a format where we both try to overcome each other.
▼ Suppose that you did decide to come back. Do you have any thoughts of joining SlayerS? Yellow - If I make a come back then all realms of possibility are open. I'm not going to not go just because it's the team that has BoxeR. I think in order to overcome that person, being on the same team would be helpful. I think it's one good method. BoxeR - I'm against it. I think it'll be better if Yellow made his own team. If you look at the big picture for the Starcraft 2 market, I think Yellow having his own identity would be for the best for e-Sports.
▼ If you had to say something to the fans? BoxeR - I don't know how much I drove up Yellow's competitive spirit, but if I introduced to him how the game plays and raised his competitive spirit then that's enough for me. I'll do my best so that Yellow comes into Starcraft 2. Yellow - I've been having fun with Starcraft 2 from before. When I played Zerg in Starcraft 2, I think the race has changed a lot due to the Queen. I played a lot because I found this very fun, and I think today I've only gained competitive spirit. It's been a while since I felt this, and I'd be satisfied if all the fans had fun, but personally I'm a bit disappointed since they'd be the happiest if they saw me win. I'll remember this match and use this to spark my revenge if the opportunity arises again and I get to play BoxeR again.
Lim Jin Rok refers to Boxer vs Yellow matches. Lim Yo Hwan, Hong Jin Ho, and I believe "Rok" refers to records.
Thanks for the translation . Although YellOw got steam rolled it was really great to see him play some form of StarCraft again. Was entertaining although BoxeR was just messin'
EDIT: Man the one game he had baneling speed.... He didn't have any banelings. -____-
Would be cool if Yellow started up his own pro-team like Boxer and they had rival teams going head to head. Lets hope he can make some time and gets some passion for it.

Special name for Boxer vs Yellow matches. I should have clarified in the OP. Sorry about that.
Should put that above the interview or put a * after "Lim Jin Rok", I read through the interview not knowing what it meant until I finished reading and got to the bottom. :/
Definitely classy for BoxeR to tell YellOw that he should go and make his own team. Shows the respect he has for YellOw, and the competition that he wants to instill between them in order to further the game and give fans what they want.
Thanks for the interview, as always Milkis! I don't think Yellow will be a player. If he is involved with the sc2 scene, it will be more of as a coach (in my opinion)
Boxer wants Yellow in starcraft 2 so bad lol that like the fourth time hes said that recently! So funny i love the competition between these two there has literally never been anything like it in ESPORTS. Yellow should totally make his own team ;p Slayers vs Yellows :O i would explode.
Slayers could really use a zerg, but Yellow should definitely create a new team... perhaps that's gonna be the theme of his soon to be announced project, ala Hyungjoon creates a pro team (but much better of course)
Love BoxeR. So polite and kind, a true gentlemen of ESPORTS. Hopefully YellOw takes a month to get his affairs in order then comes out gun blazing in the SC2 scene.

It's BoxeR vs. YellOw. Nothing else brings as many people as Lim Jin Rok does.

Because it's Boxer vs Yellow. The original Flash vs Jaedong.

I believe this showmatch wasn't just a showmatch. It was part of a large Korean festival that many people were already at.
Thanks for interview Milkis, both guys so mannered, hope Yellow sticks around for the long run and gets more involved in SC2. Gotta admit for only one month the dudes really damn good, can't imagine how much farther he'd shoot up within half a year or so.

Wonder what team name he would pick? StorM is actually a highly ranked Taiwanese clan from what I've seen on last season's ladder, so hrm...
I know it's hard for someone of such a high competetive nature like Yellow to see the bright side of this 1:2 defeat, but holy shit, this defeat was only because Yellow lacks actual SC2 experience. If he would start training I'm pretty sure he would make it to Code S.
I think we will soon see a new team coming up with Yellow as Coach and I'm looking forward to it - or maybe as team captain like BoxeR, if this showmatch ignited the flame of competetive gaming again.

I always thought the Rok came from Ragnarok, because it was a huge battle kind of thing. Does the korean for records sound like Rok or something? Sorry, I am still first year in korean, so I have very little vocab.
Also, thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much Milkis! You are doing an amazing job. I am really thankful for all the translating work you put in at MLG and online.

You are correct. The "rok" in this case does refer to "records", so "lim jin rok" in this case would be "The records of BoxeR vs. YellOw", which makes sense since they -- as the rivals -- had so many battles against each other.

yeah. I think Boxer knows how cool it'd be for esports to get Yellow back, and if Yellow joined/started a team that wasn't Slayers, that could help start a proper team rivalry.

I'd argue that Naniwa/Thorzain has the potential to develop into something similar, if they meet each other a little more in the future.
Yes, the rok is 錄 which is records. Actually, 임진록 is meant to also be the title for a military story from the Joseon Dynasty with Admiral Yi or something. With the epic/historic context in mind, maybe translating rok to "chronicles" might work better?

Stay classy Boxer! I really enjoyed these matches. I hope for more exhibitions like this. Code S is so hard to get into & now lacks Boxer hopefully he will win code A!!!
I live in Toronto and was really happy the time to watch wasn't 4am like usual, it worked out to 9am here... Much better!
God I love Yellow, and instead of making me yearn for days of old, this just makes me excited for some epic SC2 games that I hope Yellow brings one day!

No.
Stop thinking that a single showmatch/match at all will change anything like that. Different people like different games.
If for instance korean BW "dissappears" (which it wont) then the BW-followers wont magically go watch SC2, they watch BW because it´s BW. I think it´s bad for the scene if people try pushing people from either game to cross over to the other since it will just hurt both scenes.

Well it convinced my cousins at Busan to give SC2 a try at least.
At least some fans are willing to try something new and different.
I really do hope yellow transitions to sc2, then the epic rivalry will continue. My only worry is that the skill of all progamers has increased so much that they will be struggling to make it to the higher leagues and staying there, and the chances of playing each other are really small.
It will not be like BW where the two were at the peak of their existence, but it will be like two old friends rekindling a fire
I was really hoping for Boxer to say "Come to slayers Yellow" lol, maybe im crazy, but i think yellow would rape some face if he decided to switch, and if he does switch, Boxer, you must haveth him!

This was an awesome read. These two guys are the top level of class in eSports. I like Boxer's comment about Yellow starting his own team and that it would be better for the sport as he is such an established figure.
Congrats to both of these men for putting on a fun show. It seems like Yellow is disappointed in himself some, but I wish he wouldn't be. He is new to the game, it is a different game then Brood War, so no one would have expected him to be outstanding right away. Yellow, you put up some entertaining games. Please remain in the scene in some capacity or another.

YellOw should have his own team. SlayerS got a wealth of Terran knowledge in BoxeR, Wouldn't a team with a Zerg Sage like YellOw be awesome. #JustDayDreaming
Actually~ I have always wanted BoxeR Yellow 1 team. Since many years ago .So I hoped 1 day Yellow will join BoxeR team . But Yellow forming another team will be good too keke.

Imo Yell0w should start a team. His fame (and good looks!) will attract big sponsors and talented players, thus creating many opportunities for aspiring gamers, and through those players his legacy will grow into something much larger. Boxer and his pupil MMA are a perfect example of this.
