rofl this therad is getting really off topic, i'm not gonna make another post about mouse vs. controller after this, but it's really obvious you haven't ever played with a controller seriously before. you make it sound like using a controller is akin to having an AI play the game for you. auto-aim does very little to help worse players, it's more of a burden at times if you're actually good at console shooters, and you can turn it off in 99% of games.

and it's 1 thing to say, 'an amateur can win, therefore, game is low skill.' but uhhh... he went 1-20. that's not close. clearly one person was better than another person by a massive margin.


I own a gaming PC, a PS3, and a 360 with various shooters for all the consoles. So don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. A gamepad is limited in the options you can play a shooter when compared to a keyboard and mouse. That much is UNDEBATABLE. The skill-level on any console shooter is lower than a game like Counterstrike and Quake, because of the existence of Auto-aim.

And the previous poster who compared a WCG Countestrike player losing to someone playing on a different game is like berating Idra a Pro SC2 player for losing to someone in a game of Dawn of War.

It really has no merit whatsoever.

Glad to hear SC2 continues the warpath to E sports world domination. Now MLG only needs to double the tournie winnings and things will really kick into gear.

BTW, what's with all of the Halo hate? I love that game series and all of the Lans my buddies and I hosted while playing it. Come on, even if you don't watch pro matches you gotta admit that Halo lans were ridiculously fun.

Now if we talk about the CoD series . . . Screw them. The only good game was the original and the series has slid downhill ever since. The demographic consists exclusively of homophobic racist rednecks and homophobic racist 12 year olds with their parent's credit card.

Halo has been center stage for the 5 or so years i've been a part of the MLG community, and since i became a part of it when only Halo mattered, it's safe to say Halo was center stage before they even had a big enough to event to call something center stage. to say it could even remotely become "easy come easy go" is a vast underestimation of what putting SC2 center stage communicates. at worst it will trade with Halo between events if the Halo community makes enough clamor about it. i don't think SC2 will lose its spot though, it would basically have to die at this point

EPIC!!!! I remember being at Columbus and seeing how we had more people in the smaller SC2 space than they did in the Halo area. SC2 definitely deserves center stage. I can't wait to watch this live on the streams and I wish that I could be there in person.

Not unexpected.

It's clear that MLG was hesitant removing Halo from the #1 spot considering the franchise helped MLG to make it this far - but the audience numbers have been wildly in favour of SC2 for a while now.


SC2 is surely going to be the centerpiece of pretty much every multi-game/esport competition for a good while. LoL and the fighting games (SF/MvC) don't have similar numbers or media attention - maybe Dota 2 might be able to do something, but I doubt it.

Alienware Hummer? Really? Didn't they stop making hummers a while ago. SC2 on center mainstage is cool, though. However I do prefer being on the left side of a room... maybe that's just me.

I played Halo 2 on a semi-pro level. Anyone who even needs to debate this is a fucking moron. mouse+keyboard provides a much higher level of accuracy than a stick any day. Auto-aim really isn't even a factor. It hurts pro players more than it helps them because of pretty specific situations where auto-aim pulls your crosshair off of the person you're trying to hit due to another enemy being very close.

On Topic: This is pretty awesome, but was expected. After the showing we put on at Columbus it would be pretty foolish to not have SC2 on the main stage.

edit: Without auto-aim console games become really really hard to play unless you have your sensitivity down real low. Go on halo and play a game where you are all on the same team and just try to teamkill each other. Shit is hard.

I'm not saying Halo was short lived, but that given how quickly SC2 has taken its place, SC2 could be. Edit: could be short-lived as the MLG main event, that is.

2nd Edit: The simpler explanation is that SC2 is growing and is here to stay for a long time, but when success comes very quickly, sometimes you wonder "is this bubble going to burst?"
