I love when people say why the internet was created. Just because thats what people use it for doesnt mean thats why it was made or how it should be used. I actually think holding people accountable for their actions on the internet is actually really smart.

Anytime you interact with the public your actions should reflect on you and you should be held accountable for them.

Anonymous internet fuckbags need to just get the hell out, and we, as a community, need to ostracize them harder than anything else.

One of the problems with the internet is zero accountability for anything you say. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done about it. You can't discern between the people with a real, critical, CONSTRUCTIVE opinion, and the people who are so starved for attention that they do/say anything they can to get it. And as psychiatry will attest, negative attention is far and away the easiest.

Boxer is the most important person in the history of professional gaming. Period.

As for the legal situation here, we need to come together as a community and oust this bastard. He is doing nothing but harming other people emotionally (and not through people with thin skin, by any means) and harming the progression of our beloved game into the mainstream by opening it to ALL genders.

Find his twitter, track the IP's of the forum ID's used to post his slanderous bullshit, trace it all the way back to him in a neat little line that SlayerS can take to the court and say "here's everything you need to convict this little snake."

Jessica should support all their players including Eve, this means to protect her from needless trash.

Internet is not intended a zone where you can defame and accost someone. Some things done to Eve are outright disgusting, it is good that SlayerS stands up and defends her players.

At this point the only thing I see wrong with this scenario is that Eve is diamond level and was picked because she won the tournament. I didn't like Eve being Terran because Slayers is filled with them but the point of acquiring her wasn't to fill out their roster so I'm over that issue.

I don't think winning a tournament is the best tool for identifying talent. If her games were analyzed to see the quality of her play compared to everyone else participating then I would be ok with the decision to a greater extent.

Her being Diamond is an issue only because I think if you looked hard enough you could find a Masters level female player.

Some of the criticism I've seen made against her is illogical.

[She is unfairly getting help from a pro-team unlike other up and coming female gamers]

You become a progamer by putting in the necessary hours of dedication and do whatever is needed to learn from other players. She is no different from everyone else doing what needs to be done to succeed.

[She is taking a slot away from another player]

Proteams don't have size limits.

[This is affirmative action]

She was picked by the manager for her own reasons. She didn't pick her to satisfy a government mandate.

[The decision is sexist]

The decision was made to raise awareness to women SC2 is not as difficult as BW. Noone disagrees with this but have an issue with it being targeted to a demographic we typically don't see in esports let alone Starcraft. Messages of this sort aren't sexist.

The idea that a parody photo of someone seen on television produced by photoshopping their face onto a pornography actress is a crime is without basis and completely unconscionable in American culture. Obviously Korean society has it's own laws and cultural norms but it is almost impossible for someone immersed in American culture to read conflations of cyber bullying with thef and murder and not feel appalled. This looks like insanity from the perspective of a culture whoes first enumerated right is freedom of speech.

The enthusiasm with which you speak about these 'criminals' being punished sounds like a vendetta more than anything else. That's a perfectly natural reaction but it is one that should be repressed in a civilized society goverened by law and justice.

It is an overreaction. The law you are exploiting is unjust. That said I bare you and Eve no ill will and I hope your endeavors in the Starcraft community continue to prosper. I really do agree with your position on taking in a player like Eve and I emplore you to ignore the haters and naysayers. I wish you would channel your feelings of revenge into working harder to prove them wrong instead though.

You don't see any inherent danger in punishing people for speech? No potential for missuse? No danger of suppression of unpopular ideas? No fear of political censorship?

How funny is it that a 14 year old girl has amazing advice that Jessica (and Eve ?) could use...

Rebecca black handles this shit better oO

That, is good english, are all other korean celebrities taught english this well?
regardless, you go get them, girl, you know the entire educated portion of Teamliquid is behind you on this.
Btw i dont have the opportunity to do this since i can't go to korean, but could some warm hearted, kind fellow Liquidian who is willing to go to the Gom studio next time and get a poster and show some great support for our Slayer'_Eve, and the entire Slayers' team. Tell them that we, teamliquid are made out of sensible, good people.

I don't agree with the cyber bullying, however, if this were a job opportunity for me in America, and the company I was applying for had hired someone mainly based on their looks to take the position I applied for even though I had better credentials, ofcourse I would be angry. Wouldn't anyone else be naturally frustrated?

For entertainment figures, criticism is going to be pretty common amongst everyone, where were all the people defending Rebbeca Black when she had the most disliked video on youtube with thousands of hateful comments? I don't agree with any criticism that is there to hurt others on purpose but some of the arguments are not always incorrect.

I'm disappointed seeing how many people just jumped on the bandwagon with this incident.

To the previous comment about pro teams having no size limit, while that may or may not be true, then why aren't all the players that want to be pro gamers getting free invites to the pro teams?

By the way, I find it ridiculous that people are saying it's harder for female gamers to reach Masters compared to male. This is not true at all. This only seems like it because there are very little female sc2 competitive players. The comment saying it's harder for females to reach masters is pretty sexist itself. If there were enough feminist on TL, I'm pretty sure they would be defending this as well.

A company and a SC2 pro team are entirely different entities as far as I know. Apples and oranges. Hiring practice standards for companies don't apply to a homegrown SC2 team like SlayerS. I've said this so many times before: BoxeR and Jessica built their team from the ground up. They can accept into their team whoever they damn well please.

Nope, I'm pretty sure for an US E-Sport Team, the United States Labor Laws still apply when it comes to employment. Once you have applied the team logo as a trademark, you become an organisation and I'm pretty sure no one is above the law.

You're right about they can have whoever they want on their team though. I agree with you, this is pretty common knowledge about any teams. I'm only saying considering that being a progamer is like any other job, ofcourse some people would be angry when they heard a potential spot was taken by someone with less qualifications.

I think it's great that we're starting to see female Progamers on the Korean scene. I think anyone who tries to turn it against the person and persecute their passion is a sexist and a bully. Women are aloud to freely indulge in other sports, despite their skill level or physical ability not being up to the Men's standard in a general sense, why not eSports?

It's ok to not like to see a lesser skilled player take a spot that should be reserved for a higher skilled player, but to attack that person, even online, is not acceptable and it hurts the reputation of eSports.

I just to lurk tl but when I read this I felt that I had to leave a comment of support to SlayerS_Jessica and SlayerS_Eve. What you are doing is great, if ppl act like idiots they should be prepared to be hold responsible for what they have said and done.

I truly admire the fact that Jessica stands so firmly behind her players. This girl is maybe not some top player, but she desn't deserve to be dissed like Jessica mentioned in her post. Truly shame some people act like that. Some guys should stop acting like cavemen - no wonder most women feel alienated in SC2 scene and rather keep it secret they are women, after seeing all this load of crap.

Don't even know SlayerS, and I only heard about them recently, but the way people acted in this case... duh. This is part of SC2 community I'm not proud of. Whenever women are mentioned, whole load of crap starts to pile up.

Exactly, better to be a has been than a giant that never was.

Though considering how well he did at MLG I would laugh in the face of anyone suggesting that the powers aren't still there when he's had enough practise time (and has enough motivation) to summon them.

Sounds like my lawyer cousin who called Pete Sampras a has-been when I posted that I saw him practicing at UCLA.
