One day..and that day will come, a girl pro-gamer will kick some serious e-butt and i will laugh so hard It may not be Eve, it may not be Slayers, but forever Slayers will be that team that was first / again /. I think that ppl that write bs against Eve, Jessica and Slayers are just unsecured brats with slight retardation / as a medical condition /. E-sports is for all, gaming is for all - young, old, genius or stupid, boys or girls - gaming is freedom and people that try to put constrains on it have that 'communist' mentality. Yes pro-gaming is competition, but the core is still the fun and the freedom of being able to enjoy a game and forget the real world with all it's faults. I admire team Slayers for the decision, admire Jessica for her courage and support, and Eve because she knew from the start that it won't be a nicer comfortable journey ahead. I support them 100% and so should you / or you're a communist /

Just imagine - Idra getting e-slapped by a girl gamer

I think SlayerS_Jessica might be right in suggesting that this whole issue might have something to do with cultural barriers. Clearly, in a society where things on the internet are treated with the same seriousness as "real life" events, things that are disgustingly dismissed as malicious trolling in the US are seen as real-life attacks in Korea.

While I might think that an American manager would be overreacting in this situation, I think that Korean culture may call for such a strong reaction from Jessica.

Thanks for coming here and posting this, pretty cool to have someone involved in the top level of play come here and post.

Can't believe the reaction to SlayerS_Eve, it's pretty disgusting. I don't really understand the situation completely but I guess a bit of that may be cultural? Hope it gets sorted out.

Thanks for the post to clarify! Despite what people say about people like BoxeR and Eve, I support the headway they are making to try and make SC2 the giant craze it should be both in and out of Korea.

I'd like to believe you're training Eve to all-kill in the team leagues right, right?!

Pretty cool that there's a Female Pro-Gamer. But I remember seeing a picture somewhere on the Internet (not exactly sure) and she was sitting on one side of a bench while the rest of SlayerS was on the other side. Will be good when they get a few more Female Pro-Gamers so they aren't so lonely :>

Hmmm, I guess what I would ask is when you are as high profile as you in a community as big as starcraft 2, what else did you expect?

Did you think these kind of people don't exist? Did you think these kind of people are not part of the starcraft 2 community?

You're drawing more attention to yourself, and that by default means more haters. So do you really think taking action is the right choice? I would be lying if I'd say that I think it will change anything. Other than the few insignificant individuals you get from doing this it seems likely nothing will change.

I can't imagine this setting some kind of example, I would guess this won't scare anyone that would do these idiotic things.

It wouldn't be the first time I'm horribly wrong though. But I would urge you to brush off any idiotic insults people throw at you/your husband/your teammates, some people just want to see the world burn.

Jessica, you hired a female to have a female on the team, as you stated. This is not right. You should bring her on because she is a competitor, she will have results, at least have a SHOT at GSL or GSTL, something to promote her. I support everyone in the pro scene, I do not support people who bring in females for you're reasons. There is not physical aspects to Star Craft, women can compete with men, find someone better.

Thanks for posting. Let me first getting to meet Boxer at MLG and it was amazing. Meeting one of my biggest idols, the face of E-Sports and Starcraft. It was an honor.

As for the harassment. I respect that you are trying to protect Eve. If she cannot simply ignore the hate, which some people cannot, then it's smart to try and stop it now. I have nothing but respect for your decision. Good luck. I hope to see Eve one day play in the GSL. Don't let the haters get to her. She is probably better then 95% of them. If not more.

Well, first of all, eternal hell and damnation to all who dare to flame the emperor! Even if he had been slumping until recently, those ungrateful bastards need a lesson on the history of professional gaming and all he did for the scene.

Second of all, I don't really care that much what Jessica does. But I generally share the opinion of one of the previous posters:

And lastly, I generelly don't understand why people "overreact" (in my point of view) so much because of cyber-bullying. Well alright, I've never been cyber-bullied myself, so I don't know what those people are going through, maybe it is worse than real bullying because they can't really retaliate? Can't you just "stand firm" and by doing that make the bully look like the stupid mentally-retarded kid he/she is?
Oh well, I only have been bullied in real life (in high school by some wannabe nazis since I am asian) and there I could train several months to show them from which part of the world martial arts came from. Got 2 weeks exclusion from school though, because I beat 3 people up quite badly. :-/

I disagree with this. I think bringing in females into a male dominated competitive enviroment is a good thing. This will not only bring more fans to the sport but also help the sport gain access to an entirely new pool of people/players. The same reason componies hire people of mixed race/origin's because people from different backgrounds bring their own flair and expertise to the company which in alot of case's can help find things or in SC2's case exploit things that were commonly thought to be un-exploitable.

TL;DR: Girls promote diversity in the sport and can provide the community with a new skill set and fan base.

Although I do agree that the bad words spread are distasteful, the point of recruiting members into a team are for their potential combined with the current skill level. It is possible that she is trying to use her as an icon for women attempting to enter e-Sports. However, I doubt that she'll be able to be successful in e-Sports from a current perspective. Furthermore, although it is not expected of the new team member to become extremely successful in the GSL, there is no assurance that she will achieve in a minute amount of success. In addition to my previous statement, within your thread you stated," but in reality, it is no mean feat for a female to reach Master level while laddering against males.
It is difficult for the average male player, too."

This exemplifies the fact that both men and women should be treated equal and although she may have been the champion of the Female League, there are possibly better players out there and you should've strived in order to find a more suitable occupant for the female icon of Starcraft 2.

Your intent was good and it may indeed promote diversity amongst e-Sports, but in my mind there is assuredly a better and more suitable candidate in order to facilitate the entrance of additional female professional gamers.

This was not meant to insult or throw out insinuations but you are blinded by your perspective and cannot objectively look at this situation. I merely meant to point out your fallacies.

"But he is hurt so many times every day by the bullies that abuse him like a punchbag, refusing him the courtesy that he deserves as a pioneer, instead calling him a has-been, a reject, telling him to retire and the like."

The amount of fans BoxeR has completely surpasses the haters though, in the west we have really gotten used of the haters as being part of the landscape, as soon as a player becomes really popular, it comes with the territory, there is a lot of frustrated people using the internet who are feeling safe from anything at home and who will often say things online they would never say in real life.

Anyway best wishes to SlayerS team and eve, after meeting you guys at mlg i can say you're a very likeable team!

It's always rough for the pioneers at the start. It'll get better, many thanks to SlayerS_Jessica for being so passionate about eSports and not letting these online assholes get away with things they would never get away with in real life.

SlayerS hwaiting!
