Milkis should not have been on the show plain and simple he brought nothing to the table. if he isnt a journalist and doesnt fact check or translate the whole article thats great. they could have introduced him as "some dumb shmuck who can read korean" and then they could have filled his place with a lot of people. milkis's debate was "You dont get it" and thats not really saying anything.
And again. Why is it that we all have to bend over backwards for this Culture nonsense? when is koreas turn to do some bending? Puma was at a US event and a US company saw a free agent and approached it like gentlemen. they didnt attack puma and threaten him and force him to sign they talked to him and asked him.
Who is to say Coach Lee is not the one at fault here? EG for all anyone of you know were trying to contact him and he acted early and made a post about the evil americans stealing his player without asking him. sounds like a good way to get bandwagoners on your side right? Eg and Puma had not said anything yet and this guy just goes "Well no one asked me if it was ok" they might have been trying to but you jumped the press shark and painted this very evil (in some peoples minds) picture. has no one thought of that scenario?

I listened to half of weapon of choice then I had to go. Did I miss something between now and then? Didn't most of these issues get cleared up? EG hasn't even signed Puma yet. Puma is not a free agent after he left TSL.
Whats everyone worked up about now? The owner of EG was a dick a blatantly disrespected Milkis. how? please explain how he disrespected milkis. If you watched Weapon of Choice today, Alex continuously interrupted and talked over Milkis whenever he was trying to make a point. Then at the end he attacked Milkis for "false journalism" when all he did was translate an article on play XP. Respect starts with giving the other party the time of day to make a point. Even if Alex was 100% correct, it is still disrespectful for him to do what he did. He corrected milkis for falsely quoting him. he never attacked milkis for false journalism. he stated that before he even started making his point. Lol go to the Weapon of Choice thread and read all the comments on this. Then go rewatch the video. The entire debate was riddled with Alex "apologizing" before he interrupted him or made an accusation. I'm sorry but saying that "im not trying to accuse you....but" is an accusation in itself.. An apology does not mask his true intentions. I don't get where you are getting this from. Alex stated multiple times he was not attacking milkis and was talking about journalism as a WHOLE. apologized BEFORE and AFTER if what he said will seem like he is attacking milkis. And yet after all of that you go "oh yeah he attacked milkis"
Ok..so this whole situation transpired because Milkis rightfully translated a comment that Coach lee made. Then he followed up doing the same with an interview on PlayXP. The translations were obviously biased at the time because the audience was only presented with one side of the story. Now Alex comments on "false journalism" because he felt that's what caused the whole situation to come into fruition. This comment happens during a debate with the man responsible for informing the public of this situation. Even if Alex denies attacking Milkis, WHY else would he make that comment? Of course he's going to say that he's not attacking anyone; he's a PR guy. You know how much shit he would get if he blatantly said your irresponsible. But the thing is, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the intent behind his words. What makes this especially heinous is that it's not Milkis's responsibility to give both sides of the story. He is a TRANSLATOR; it is his job to translate things that are happening in Korea. It's not his fault that the audience was only presented with one side of the story. It's EG's fault for taking so long to issue a public response. If they wanted people to hear both sides, then people like Sir Scoots should have said something other than "leave it to the internet to jump to conclusions" on his twitter.
|
I think what we can summarize from this is that EG is really bad at PR and should consider getting a professional to handle such thing rather than Alex Garfield going on Weapon of Choice to debate over who is right and wrong.

One, it was on Weapon of Choice, a show that has been around since before onemoregame.tv was around. Its a djWHEAT production, not an EG one like ITG.
And people need to accept the fact that esports will become business like. It won't reach its potential without it.

Thats the thing though, he didnt just translate. Hes was pretty worked up. He made quite a few tweets himself, he poured oil over the flame war. He was clearly emotionally invested into the story he translated as the story he was going to believe. After a nights rest and his conversation with Alex, I'm sure he has a new perspective. Since Puma has no contract cant someone else poach him like Mouz, TL, etc..

Oh wow. IMO EG should've talked to TSL before, but its understandable for Puma to want to go to a foreign team though.

Finished reading your post. You have to realize by now that the information that he translated was not accurate. Even if thats what Coach Lee said, Puma was NOT a member of EG. The translations were emotionally driven around coach Lee feeling disgusted with EG signing puma behind their backs. But no agreement was officially made. It was false journalism.
Another thing is this, why does EG need to make a statement at all if Puma is not even an official member. What are they supposed to say. "EG has an announcement that we will make another announcement later this week when its official. (cue the inc joke)" The bottom line is the side of the story that was released was false. Puma did not sign with EG yet, I dont see why EG needs to make a statement.

Great move by EG (edit: as well as FXO!) ! We as the foreign community need to eviscerate the Korean pro-scene internally while they are still weak. It's time for Korean dominance to end.

Once again it's not his job to find out the validity behind it. He is a TRANSLATOR. All he did was translate what coach lee said. It wasn't HIM making false accusations.

FFS are people still trying to pin the blame on Milkis for sharing information posted by SOMEONE ELSE? God fucking forbid all translaters quit because of this shit and we're left in the dark to only eat up western PR for information. That'll be a sad day.
