Puma informed coach lee and told him that he wishes to join EG. So coach lee could do nothing but release him (he never had the chance to talk to EG). This is pretty sad... I don't think it's sad at all. Good for Puma, good for EG. I personally find it highly offensive that some coach thinks he, and not the player should be approached with job offers. Think about it, if your employer claimed that you cannot switch jobs unless a rival approaches your management about it, you'd think it was absolutely insane. Imagine a team in any sport, approaching the player only. Does that seem reasonable? In any other sport, it wouldn't be okay.
Yes, it seems perfectly reasonable, and yes, I find the absurd control over players and the meat market of drafts to be pretty offensive as well.
But the reason people approach teams and not players in most sports is not because of "ethics" (which is a ridiculous term for describing "i own the destiny of another human being"), but because of legally binding contracts that prohibit the player from doing so.

They can. I mean, IM is freaking sponsored by Coca Cola and a top Korean clothing brand. TSL has just been bleeding players lately. This is why this is so sad. Puma was TSL's hope. He went to America and won the championship for a team that needed the exposure after losing their former top players. He even said in his winning interview how that his victory was huge for TSL since they weren't doing amazingly lately.

I don't see why people are hating on EG, it could have been any other team. We've only seen one side of the story and of course TSL would probably be upset, it seems kind of weird that they released him. People who say they are breaking the law are dumb though, the TSL manager released him from his contract because even though it wasn't what he wanted, it was Puma's wishes.
I don't see how people can blame EG for wanting to pick up puma, it's not like TSL had to release him from contract you know.

Obviously it wasn't, but wow. iNcontroL didn't run the tournament. He was only a caster.
I would say iNcontrol was instrumental to the creation of NASL. He was there from the beginning, helped form it from the ground up. The face of NASL for a very, very long time.

Oh My GOD!!!
During the NASL Finals Scoots was in the chat and I was messing with him about how he should ask PuMa to join EG and they needed Terran! MY BRAIN IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!!!!
On a related note, I think this is probably bad for PuMa's practice.

I understand why a Korean manager would be upset. Everyone agrees that Koreans practice more and harder than foreigners. Given that, what purpose does the massive amount of time commitment Puma probably put in to TSL serve other than to further his own skills? Yes, everyone who is looking at it from the perspective of the individual is right, he was most definitely offered more money and a contract that was better than what he got from TSL. The only reasonable argument is team loyalty, the managers do not have proprietary rights to the players. This cannot be compared to the NFL or other sports organizations that regulate the flow of players because Koreans basically play as a life commitment, and prior to last year, there just wasn't a situation where Koreans or any SC player could have a bunch of options to get paid to play the game. Last issue that seems to be really predominant in this thread - EG should not be demonized for this at all. If anything they should be praised for making a leap that hasn't really been done before, and has the potential to really globalize Koreans in the SC2 scene. People are going to say that Korean teams would never invite foreigners and that's true, but it is definitely not a two way street-Koreans are resoundingly better.

Good thing I am not a Puma fan at all. I would be really sad to see a team steal someone like DRG or MKP.

EG: Hey, uh..., do you mind if we recruit Puma? TSL: Yes, don't do it. EG: Hmm, actually there's no reason we need your permission. See ya.
The only reasonable message that EG could send is: Hi TSL, we think Puma is a great player and plan to give him an offer. Cheers.
Which basically amounts to nothing at all. thats retarded, of course that would amount to something. if the coach had gotten the a message like that before the deal was done then he wouldve talked to puma and discussed it with him, ask him what he wants and what hes unhappy with and etc.
And instead they kicked him out. People seem mad at EG but it's clearly TSL who overreacted. If they wanted to keep him they could have made a better counter offer.

This is fucking awesome, It's really a matter of time tilll these teams that are setting up team houses are bringing more and more koreans on board and over to the states to make their teams truly well rounded (Even though it has not been confirmed/denied he will be moving to NA)

wait... what???!! EG?? So many koreans joining foreign teams. I love it. This came out of no where
|
Wow, what a low blow by EG. It really sucks that alot of the korean teams dont have alot of money and are getting players stolen by foreign teams. TT
I really hope this doesnt keep happening, its not only bad for the players( playing with less skilled foreigners ) but bad for the korean teams.

Not surprised that EG takes Puma now - Incontrol said clearly that EG supports tournaments, expecting to scout new top world class players there and recruit them.

If Puma goes and joins rest of the EG people in the EG team house, he won't get any better at all.
Let's face it, Incontrol, machine etc. who else you have there. are shit compared to koreans. (Idra being the only exception, not sure recently tho...)
Exactly. People, for some strange reason, overlook the fact that what makes these Koreans good isn't because they're Korean, but the environment that they live in. Take that away, and in half a year, Puma will just be another Select.

I don't see why people are so upset about this. Really for puma this is a win, he just got in a new team where he is getting payed a decent salary worthy of his skills. If anything I'd say this might be good for the korean pro's who get payed little to nothing for playing and do not have a large quantity of tournaments to play in. Why does it really matter how this was done? EG probably came to Puma directly because I doubt the managers of TSL would even consider negotiating it since they probably know EG will offer puma more money. EGPuma fighting!

No, they have idra and Puma, plus machine and incontrol that place top 16-20 every MLG, and they're starting a team house to improve the team as a whole and put in the hours to be one of the best out there.

Good thing PuMa's just going to disappear: I doubt any top korean pro will still practice with him considering his lack of decency, and he's just going to depreciate playing with the mediocre EG team players. Karma's a bitch. Well EG has been known for doing so so it's not surprising to me...I love some of the players on the roster but goddamn if I don't hate the organization for being shady as hell...some people may say this looks relatively clean but this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
