This is really big news for EG, it looks like they really want to step it up from top 20 every MLG.

That's low man, poaching players under contract. Good thing PuMa's just going to disappear: I doubt any top korean pro will still practice with him considering his lack of decency, and he's just going to depreciate playing with the mediocre EG team players. Karma's a bitch.

damnit. I like Puma so i'll still root for him but EG isnt my favorite team... He really was making TSL look boss in the NASL.

Seems to me like Korean teams just want to keep their players for as little as possible, and don't wanna have to compete with foreigner teams, who will offer more money for players they consider to be high value.

Great pick up by EG!

competition has it's price. since there is no organization overseeing the teams, like an NFL commish, the teams can talk to the players directly and it is legal. maybe not ethical, but it sure as hell is legal. i hope puma moves to the States and gets to practice with IdrA.

Actually, they do have that Korean SC2 Players Association thing.... So likely, they could do something about this.

I thought the players association was supposed to be there to take care of the players, not the teams/coaches. If anything I'd imagine that they'd side with Puma, but I may be missing out on some of the finer points of his contract.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

People are complaining too much that teams should not go behind other teams backs if we want to be taken seriously as a sport because other major sports do not do this. The fact is that the only reason they do not do this is because for each sport there is a major governing body that regulates these things. I guarantee if teams could they would already be throwing offers at someone great in baseball like Albert Pujols instead of being forced to wait until his contract expires at the end of the season.

If you want more regulated competition for players and want to be serious as other sports, then the argument should be for a regulating league or body to oversee these things.

Oh wow this is so weird for a Korean to play for an American team. Sounds like there was a lack of professionalism on eg's part as well. I wonder how this will develop.

Funky behind the scenes shenanigans.... at least it's in character for EG. Poor TSL though, getting possibly their best player stolen.

First of all, EG didn't steal Puma. They just made a better offer. If Puma loved TSL, he would have stayed with TSL. At the end of the day it is a business and EG didn't steal anything. There is no rule where you have to talk to the coaches/managers about it.

What interests me is that someone stated that some Korean teams may start to be hesitant in sending their players to foreign tournaments now. This might be true, but at the same time I guess they should do a better at keeping their players happy in terms of money, practice partners, etc. This could hurt the globalization of sc2 competition, but at the same time, more and more koreans are joining foreign teams which is a good thing.

At the end of the day its a great deal for EG, they are one of my favourite teams and they have 2 of my favourite players in incontrol and idra and with Puma joining them the team will only get better. EG also needed a terran badly, I think demuslim is their only other terran since lz switched to Z.

This is a big surprise though lol.

"... to provide Puma with money for foreign tournaments."

Does this mean he'll remain in Korea, rather than heading to the EG house? I really hope so, for his sake. Players practice with their teams and friends, eg. Byun practicing with MKP, SC, etc. But if Puma's in America, he can't, lag doesn't allow for a stable training environment. The only decent team mate he could practice with would be Idra, and even then, lower than what was on offer in Korea.

its kinda lame to give birth to a player and watch him get stolen but meh w/e

They didnt! Puma had so much skill from Brood War that it was ridiculous. Puma would have been successful on ANY team or even on his own if he really wanted to. The fact that coach lee made that statement is bullshit.

TSL is trying purposely to make EG look bad, but the truth is that if Puma can be more happy on EG then it doesn't matter. They weren't giving Puma a salary, but they were giving Fruitdealer a salary? What has Fruitdealer done since GSL1?

TSL could have made a better offer when Puma said he was interested in joining EG, but they didn't and chose to immaturely bash EG for being able to treat the player better and offer a better deal.

Do you know whats disgusting? TSL's public statements about EG.

What exactly do people expect EG to talk to the TSL coach about?

EG: Hey, uh..., do you mind if we recruit Puma?
TSL: Yes, don't do it.
EG: Hmm, actually there's no reason we need your permission. See ya.

The only reasonable message that EG could send is:
Hi TSL, we think Puma is a great player and plan to give him an offer. Cheers.

Which basically amounts to nothing at all.

thats retarded, of course that would amount to something. if the coach had gotten the a message like that before the deal was done then he wouldve talked to puma and discussed it with him, ask him what he wants and what hes unhappy with and etc.
