RootPrincess/SixjaxMajor caught smurfing in tourny - Page 8

Page 26 and onwards I will issue at least two day bans to anyone who clearly has not read the original topic post and the explanations contained therein. He was barred access to the event days before the actual event took place and used some random diamond player his account to try and get in anyway.

Leave the racial bias at the door while you are at it as well pretty please.

not after screenshots of that chat.

consequences are in order I'd figure.

Obviously it is a dumb move on his part, but I personally don't think of him as any lesser skilled of a player. He's still one of the top Terrans in America, will continue to do well at MLG (if sixjax sends him there), and people will still watch his stream.

If he was caught hacking/cheating/etc, then there are bigger issues. But this, meh, just a dumb move.
Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

It was stated to him very clearly that you needed to be a citizen. I don't think there was any grey area or misunderstanding that major wasn't supposed to play in the tournament... -_-

It supports the SEA community directly? For example, if there were to be a league in SEA that has a 50k prize pool every month, then there would be more SEA players who would try to get good enough to win them, and teams may arise from there (if not SEA players just joining SEA teams, or new ones forming).

Isn't this the exact same argument people have over inviting koreans to MLG/NASL/etc?? And it's been widely agreed that it's much better to open up tournaments for everyone who wants to participate no matter where they live/are born/currently play?

I'm pretty sure it's largely agreed that inviting koreans is a good decision, and it's the same issue here. I'm all for limiting people based on whether or not they are pros/what league they're in just so it's not a massive skill level difference, but not letting major participate just because he's not from SEA is a silly decision in general.

Dox can do whatever he wants with his own money. Also, I've reread your post over 3 times and I can't find the justification for your conclusion that it's a "silly decision in general". The only argument you've provided is that "it's been widely agreed", which is an appeal to popularity. I don't like it when people state a conclusion of which they have adduced nothing for.

Because I honestly cannot understand how it isn't obvious to everyone that having the most skill in your tournament = having the best tournament? It's his money, he can do what he wants, sure... but that doesn't mean what he's doing makes any sense, he only hurts the validity of what he's hosting. Why he would ever want to put forth money to make something and then blatantly chose to not have it be the best it can be.

Alright this conversation can go straight back to my first response to you. If (for example, I am not saying this is the motivation) they want to support the SEA scene... then THIS would be a good way to help support it and get some SEA players on the map if they are currently struggling, and possibly get more people in the scene.

What are you not understanding?

The fact remains that SEA has never had a local tournament that is on the scale of MLG/NASL. If we did, then yes, I agree it would be a silly decision to exclude people from other countries.

As previously mentioned, one of the intentions of the tournament was 'community building' and I'm sure you already know that SEA has a vastly smaller community (and if you've spent time on SC2SEA, you'll find it's fairly tight knit) as opposed to NA and EU. I'm not trying to say that because SEA is small, that we should keep to ourselves. I just feel that if we had people not native to the SEA server stomping all over our tournaments, the SEA community would just suffer.

The fact remains that Fenix and the Koreans who registered accepted Dox's clarification of the rules, whereas MajOr did not. There's nothing more to argue there.

Yep not a big deal, tournament organizers neglected to put the 'SEA citizen' in the most important place, which is the tournament thread itself. Not everyone checks the tournament calendar. Sure he was a bit of a dick by still playing under a different name after being told he couldn't play, but the rules stated beforehand should've made him eligible to participate. A little bad on both sides.

these tournaments aren't full of pro players like nasl or mlg are. you think letting someone of major's calibre come and roflstomp his way to a small local $500 tournament would somehow be conducive to building the SEA scene? i'd imagine it'd actually be demoralising to people who aren't as committed to playing competitively as na/eu pros (who wouldn't be turned off by puma winning nasl or mma winning mlg).

the best tournaments are the most competitive ones, not the ones that have the best players possible. do you think if a tournament comprised solely of my diamond friends would be better, or one with my friends + MC? yeah....

He also told him in that chatlog that is from AUS, which he isnt, rofl.

He has been an immature fuck since SC1 though, I wish he would just do everyone a favor and disappear from the SC2 scene.

maybe you should look up the definition of mistake.

Show nested quote +
An error or fault resulting from defective judgment, deficient knowledge, or carelessness.

This was no mistake, he knew exactly what he was doing. He's done it before in the past, and he will do it again.

Mistakes don't have to be accidental or unintentional. Micheal Vick's involvement in dog-fighting was a mistake. Raping or murdering someone is a mistake. These are errors or faults resulting from defective judgement.

That being said, saying something like "I made a mistake" or "I made an error in judgement" are a lot nicer sounding than "I screwed up" or "I committed a crime".

Bleh...this is not really a scandal. Artosis seems to really try to help the kid out the best he can so massive respect to him. But he is perma banned from TL for complaining about money issues related to TSL 2 and the person who had the honor of banning him was none other than Manifesto7

Yeah, this. Tournament organizers need to learn that players only check threads and not their actual conversations with the players. Otherwise the players are permitted to show blatant disrespect towards them. God when are people that give to their communities going to learn...
