Page 26 and onwards I will issue at least two day bans to anyone who clearly has not read the original topic post and the explanations contained therein. He was barred access to the event days before the actual event took place and used some random diamond player his account to try and get in anyway.

Leave the racial bias at the door while you are at it as well pretty please.

Agreed, its a dick move from him, especially to the organiser who seems like a top notch bloke, but its not exactly an affront to the whole server which requires a knee-jerk patriotic response

People have a right to know, therefore this thread should be posted regardless.

The fact that this thread went 60 pages isn't Dox's fault however.

Totally agree, and I hope I didn't imply that I thought the thread or Dox were innappropriate. The post I was agreeing with was in response to SEA as a 'community' being offended and how that is going a bit far. Realistically it is a beef, as the post said, between a player being a bit of a prick and some upstanding organisers.

Of course people should know, I agree with open disclosure I just don't think people should get offended because he called our server shit

I don't think SEA cares as much as the thread shows either, besides a few vocal and dramatic few. It's a drama chain reaction of a thread where 90% of the posts are replying to other posts and not addressing the main topic, since there's not really much to say about it.

The major issue that comes to my mind is the immaturity that has been shown by an individual who is a representitve of a team sponsered by an organisation. It makees me relise why esports in general is being held back, if Major were on a korean proteam in BW or SC2 and behaved similar to he has currently he would have recieved some sort of material punishment as it has brought the team and by extension their sponsers into disrepute.

until we demand high levels of proffsenialism then it dosent matter as events such as this alienate people especially families and parents who provide the base for many sports as the children grow up with the sport and then take their own children continuing the cycle. This attracts the really big sponsers such as Pepsi, coca-cola, etc as they are associating themseleves with something that is family friendly and then by extension and association their product is more attractive. At the moment the sponsers for foriegn teams (exception:EG, Digitalis) are mainly relatively small internet based business compare this to the korean BW or SC2 teams which attract the sponsership of major fast chains as well as drink manufacturers (that is why Flash and Jaedong can compand 6 figure salaries).

At the end of the day is this sport or a hobby because sportsman dont behave like this without censure in any proffesional sport im aware of.

I agree with that last guy, whether SEA cares or not doesn't actually matter. It was just something that happened that people should know about. Yes Major was wrong, yes Dox was right. Thats about as far as the discussion can go without ever trailing off topic.

I don't see how the opinions of SEA players really affects this event at all. They aren't that important either, unless it is from a tournament organiser or a player in the tournament who actually was affected by the event.

You can't trust the majority of SEA players' opinions in this thread either. If it looks like no one from SEA cares in this thread, then that doesn't mean no one cares from SEA at all.

The difference is IdrA actually tries to be a good guy, but his emotions get the better of him at times and he "flicks the switch" into middle-finger, F-word flying, protoss bashing mode.. Major is shady from the start, and has no intention of being a good sport. To be told you can't play in a tournament then to smurf into it, thats bad..

You won't see IdrA ever "retract" a statement he made, but you can tell he knows hes made mistakes at times. Major just keeps digging the hole.

They both feel secure enough in their teams they know they wont get kicked out, so they push the limits.. but a difference is IdrA actually somehow deserves it, hes put up great results at times and represents EG well enough to stick around.. Major just makes SixJax look bad at every turn, and his hype is more than his results.

What? He's not an anti-hero he's just an asshole. IdrA is a controversial player but he doesn't cheat or lie to tournament organizers. The most controversial thing about IdrA is how he hurts himself (leaving early etc) rather than how he hurts others.

This. You can't just be an asshole to be an anti-hero. You have to have good qualities as well.

Acting immature outside of the game: yes, along with most other pros at one point or another.
Cheating: Say what? When? How?

EDIT: Disregard that, I am not as informed about BW history as I ought to be.

Because its TL and people think they have a little bit of power on the forums so they go on crusades. At this point the matter should be dropped really. There's nothing further to talk about.

If 10 percent of the TL population posted in this same thread in 2009, it would've been 50 posts and 2 1/2 pages. Same percentage of the TL population posts their opinions today and it's 1200 posts and 60 pages. Is one a bigger shitstorm than the other within the community? Or has the community just grown which makes these things more visible?

Most posters in here have not posted more than once or twice on the matter, I don't view a portion (~10%) of the community voicing their opinion as a "massive shitstorm". Not sure what people are expecting. Would you rather that people stay quiet even when they want to voice their opinion in a thread?

Then why are you in the thread? Just to state you are apparently almighty arbiter of determining whether a post on TL should be dropped?

I was contacted on Friday night (PST) by Kelly Milkies about the event and I talked to Juan shortly after finding out the whole story. The following day Dox contacted me. I apologized to him then for the grief Juan had caused.

I'm hoping the conversation the team has had with Juan stuck, and that you won't be seeing anymore antics like this from him. I'm not going into the details of our chat, as I'm of the opinion that those sort talks should remain between the team. As reassuring as I'm sure it would be for those upset to see how we went about dealing with the situation, it's something that I don't think is a appropriate to talk about with the public.

I'm not suggesting that any action should be taken, but I honestly feel that your words have fallen upon deaf ears. Less than 8 hours after your apology/statement, he went ahead and posted this in the thread.

Who would want his respect? He also talks a big game for someone that has accomplished nothing and has to smurf his way into a tournament.

No, you're just here to sit on a high horse and act holier than thou. You aren't a special snowflake by acting apathetic to the 'mob mentality.' It's ironic that you talk about people going on a crusade when you're waving your self righteousness around.

If you truly think the topic isn't worth discussing, then don't post in it. Otherwise you're just a sheep who thinks he's better than the other sheep.

If I were as good as him, could possibly smurf, get away with it and split the cash, then why the hell not?

I love the meta-morality guys like you. You see people in a furor over the behavior of a prominent figure in the community, then decide to act like a hipster and go against the bandwagon for the sake of it. I'm familiar with a lot of competitive circles in a LOT of games, and BW/SC2 is by far the most well mannered in general. Yes, dicks and griefers exist in every game, including these, but there's a LOT less, and it's because people don't "live with it" like you cynically put it.

If there was zero repercussions for people misbehaving, then this community would be rather awful. I'm thankful for this thread because I was a fan of Major after the last MLG, but I know what he's really like.

The cheating itself is bad enough, but the way he presented himself in the chat log, calling someone a fag when they were being civil is just flat out ridiculous.

Ya I have to agree with this. If we all just say "meh, deal with it" every time, then things will go downhill very quickly as people will keep pushing what they can get away with over and over.

I do have to point out that I love one of the lines from the guy you quoted... "Sure, the guy is a douche, we all know that, but it's a free country." Lmfao... but it's a free country... there are so many things wrong with that statement... especially since the poster is probably from a different country than Major, who is from a different country than the citizenship based tournament he was playing in. Also, just because someone lives in a free country doesn't make breaking rules justified. It also...

Ehh I will just leave it at that. There are so many flaws in his quote though, including saying Sc2 is "just a game."

Even in the logic of meta-morality, that argument still agrees with public recently.

So, for example, if someone cheats you and says "meh, deal with it", and you took a bat to his head, it wouldn't be against this line of thought.

In sixjaxMajOr's case, people are saying that we should just "deal with it". Guess what meta-moralists, the community IS dealing with it - maybe not in the lazy-ass way you envisioned - but still dealing with it.

As for the "free country" argument, the opposite is true. SixjaxMajOr has the right to cheat. The community has the right to punish him for it. Sixjax has the right to keep him. The community has the right to reject him as a legitimate player.

It's not the first time he's been caught for such crap. I like to advocate the three strikes rule. I think he's gone over that, and he's making evoli look like a fool of a manager. If I were evoli, I'd definitely put my foot down.
