if i was in his position i'd be playing poker full time, if he plays sc2 purely for passion thats amazing. This... if Kiwi is this good at poker, he literally loses money every hour he devotes to SC2. Still, have to give him credit for doing at least 2 things he loves to do full time and earns a living both ways! Do you really believe that? Finishing Top 3 in IPL gives him a ridiculous payday, no risk. There are some well-known names who can lose hundreds of thousands (and in rare cases, millions) in a year from poker. Just because Kiwikaki did well in this tournament (and I love him) doesn't mean he can make it a living - you look at players like Greg Raynor who've won the Main Event, and proceeded to crap out poker at tables in Vegas and in other tournaments. Is poker more profitable? Potentially. But it's also a ton more risky. Think about it this way - for every dollar you gain from playing poker, someone out there is losing more than a dollar (after factoring in rakes and whatnot). Also online poker is so unstable now, especially with the Black Friday stuff... just because you "earned" money online doesn't mean you will actually be able to cash out...
Top 3 in IPL is not a ridiculous payday for someone like kiwi... pls read something about him before posting

There are ante's that you have to put in each hand, which is what stops somebody from doing what your talking about. So if blinds are say 1500, 3000 there might be a 200 dollar ante that each player must put up every time a hand is dealt. Hope that helps you understand.

Not long, + you don't play tournies just to get itm, that's not profitable

Updates will only arrive after BIG Pots or pots vs BIG Players or at dinner breaks etc or via tweets/fayth. He is still in from what I know.
The arguements about talking during the hand, new rule this year that you can't discuss what you have etc, "eg on the river you're facing a bet and you talk out loud like I can beat this I can beat this, a very common tactic to try and get a reaction and a read.

I do not find him on the chip count list :/ Holy fuck how many times does this have to be explained before people start reading the thread lol... First of all, if he's flat out busted, Fayth would probably update us Second of all, the WSOP site and pokernews even, rarely update kiwikaki's chip count Just rely on word of mouth from the direct source which is Fayth.
also if u just keep garneau in ur "find" bar, it clearly shows him still in the chip counts.
i feel like people are searching the lists for the name KIWIKAKI.....

How do they decide who gets on the featured table and whatnot? I'm assuming that they want known players who carry the big sponsors and fanbases to be on camera as much as possible. But for example I don't think big names like Mercier, Helmuth, Negreanu, Russo etc. saw a lot of camera time.

anyone know why idra is in masters and not grandmasters

Every 2 hours they go up a level? And the blinds double or something I think. Yesterday was like Day 4 where the finally reached the money and they were 1500 3000.

I just have to ask, you're listed as US, but do you know what your nickname means in Norwegian ?

The table draws are 100% random, then they pick whatever table they feel will be best to broadcast out of the X amount of tables randomly generated. Usuaully involving big names + big stacks + very action orientated players, then players get moved on and off when spots open depending on their position on outer relative tables to the big blind.

I have a question; Why do some poker broadcasts show the players' hands from the beginning and some hide them?

Pokerstrategy(TSL sponsor, yeah!) has someone live reporting from the event and i asked him to keep track of kiwikaki:
http://de.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=1049422&page=80
You wanna look for posts from "elhh82"(starting from page 80) and ignore all the german spam in between...
dont expect too much though, they usually only cover players from their community...

what does "staking" mean? Did Fayth pay kiwi's entrance fee or something?

Depends on the tournament. For WSOP main event, very slowly, every 90 minutes I believe (?) although it has been a long time since I've played in the main event. But anyway, it's not a successful strategy; you'd bust out around early Day 2 at the latest, and late day 4 is where the money starts coming in.
Every tournament is different; in theory, if everybody else is going all-in every hand, you'd do amazing by just sitting there and letting them all off each other. It never happens that way, of course, but there are situations where playing passive is better than not.

precisely, they probably shared, meaning they both paid like 20% of each others entry fees and get 20% of each others prize money, but i don't know that for sure, its just usually wha thappens between friends.

Depends what show you watch, but 99.999% of the time you're watching a month old tournament, so all the hole cards are shown. As this is still in progress they very rarely show hole cards as people will receive updates via phone that "you got bluffed in this hand he had X" and it can cahnge the whole tournament. The initial idea here was to show holecards, but a lot of player objection seems to of stopped that, not heard the official line though, although a few hands are still being shown even without showdown.
