That was before the flop I think.
He had a small stack of about 20bb, which is not a lot to work with. He had a hand that he was willing to risk his tournament life on and decided to "shove" or raise all in. It is very unlikely he didn't have a good hand (AJ+, 88+)

They aren't showing the hands in this WSOP because the event is being broadcasted live, and as such they are trying to prevent cheating. I think this is the first event that has been broadcasted live ever, so it's a very big deal as well as uncharted territory.
wait what?
Your allowed to have a cellphone at these tables and look at it?
I don't see how thats a very good idea.
Why is it a bad idea? What use is a cellphone in a game of poker...
Well if they dont have it, they cant recieve texts telling them the hands, thus allowing the live viewers to see them online?
Then they just as easily have a friend sat in the audience who they walk over to every 30seconds to get the info :D Or a friend near entrance etc
Wouldnt that be really obv? Then they could kick that guy out for cheating, and kick the other guy out of the venue.
You'd have to stop every single player from speaking to anyone in the casino for 10hours a day :D

What's going on with the players organising their stacks and how do they know the exact amount to raise or call. I know they count it but sometimes they see someone raise and call / push the chips in pretty fast.

I play a lot on my sparetime with friends. We have a poker set that isn't numbered. But we play with them every friday, and we know exactly how much to call just about anything.

Once you play live you can count out a stack of 20 chips in milliseconds just using your eyes, and the majroity of players keep their stacks in size of 20. So can just snap 1 pile + 4 chips for 24 x 5k chips for a 120k bet in a second. Or they use stacks of 40 then just quickly half the pile to count out 20 chips.

The way they can ensure no cheating is being done is by not showing the live stream viewers the content of a players hand until AFTER the hand is over. On television, you always see their hands while they are playing because it's not broadcasted live...it's just a replay / highlight show of a previous tournament.
So...cell phones are not a problem as long as the people watching it live do not know the players hands while they are in play.

You can't show hole cards at all when there are communication devices allowed, knowing what your opponent had in the last hand also gives you a big edge.

Not to mention, the live feed is on a roughly 30 minute delay.

if i was in his position i'd be playing poker full time, if he plays sc2 purely for passion thats amazing.
here is an interview with kiwi by askjoshy. the first minute goes through his gaming/poker history and why he plays sc2 now instead of poker.
Thanks a lot for that interview, he looks like a really cool guy, I hope he goes far in the tournament!
(By the way, I often tend to forget that many Canadians have french as their mother tongue, and I got so surprised by the french accent at first :D)
LOL I love when people do funny things with their stack but that is the best chip castle I've ever seen haha, he must have sat out like 10 straight hands and was bored as fuck hahaha
