SC2 ChatCloud is an application that parses the text out of ALL your replays and sticks it all into one big file without nicknames and further distractions. This way you can analyze the text for the most common words or even generate pretty word clouds as shown above.

When I press Make a Wordcloud... it opens my browser with button that says "submit query".
When I press that one, it basically says page not found. Any ideas? Thanks for your time

What path are you guys using for the "replay" folder? Because mine has been played with 3 different accounts, and they all have separate replay file folders under "accounts". Also... the program itself has a "replay" folder that doesn't seem to contain anything. Which ones are most people using that get the result?
edit: Odd. No mater which folder I pick, anywhere, I keep getting text documents containing nothing. Even though it says 88 replays analyzed. Hmmm. I don't chat a lot- but I know it's not zero. heh

The only folders I find that contain replays are under my "Documents"... (c\user\documents\starcraft2\accounts\numbers\replays) maybe its a Windows Vista vs a Windows 7 thing? Are you also Vista PartyBiscuit?

I'm not really a proper coder and just threw this together because I was bored. Chances are that its full of bugs and may break on foreign text or other text errors. It could also be that you need administrative rights to the folders you are using.
So if you are on Vista or Windows 7, try running it as admin (rightclick, run as administrator).

You should give an option to select which player (in-game) is actually having his/her words used in the picture, because I play lots of 4v4's and I know for a fact I've never used some of these words before, haha.

Right now it analyzes the all chat. Since it seems more popular than I thought I'll throw in an option to filter by player later.

Until someone finds and out, this will be my final word- I tried EVERYTHING. Unblocked it. Copied it, allowed all permissions, even in the text file it was writing too... comparability settings, administrator, I moved it in and out of the public folder... all kinds of crap. My best guess is that this isn't going to work on Vista no matter what you do.
If anyone finds differently, please post. Thank you so much for your work... OP... great idea and obviously lots of people having fun with it.

I'm not on vista but I am on windows 7. I think my problem might be foreign text as NOTHING is being written to the chat.txt file.

So I went into my beta folder and grabbed the most recent replays from the end of the beta there were only 84 and it was pretty cool

It's not mine, it's made from a replay pack of Destiny. I dunno what the .txt-doc you're talking about is, so I assume you're using the "Output Folder:" option. Try leaving that blank and then just pressing Make a Wordcloud.

Well, there seems to be some problem with Vista/Win7. I also can't make it work. After Submitting it to the site, I just get a blank page.

Yea i too have that problem with windows 7 ultimate. The chat.txt comes up empty and the wordcloud.html is 1kb. once i hit submit query, nothing happens.

No API being used. I actually wrote the tool on Windows 7 too and it works fine as is here. Did you guys try to see if it works with just a few replays? If so maybe we can figure out what type of replay causes it to break.

I have the same problem. My "chat" text file is empty and also the process of making the cloud is just an empty page. I run win7. I tried the "as administrator" way, change the compability to XP s3 and even not giving a output file. Nothing. *depressed*

I tried it with 25, 23, and 6 replays all with same result. 0kb chat.txt. i really want to use this program! i pretty much have racked my brain and tried every possibility except safe mode. Maybe the .dlls need to be placed somewhere?

i use win7 myself and i got the blankpage myself, but only because i was sloppy with the directorys, i selected the starcraft2/replay folder instead of the starcraft2/numbers/numbers/replay folder, i felt kinda stupid after realizing that, maybe its a hint for some of you, with the win7/vista blankpages

Got a problem:
The prgram says it analyzed 789 reps in directory, but my "chat.txt" is empty.
Also when im opening the generated .html, FF gives me a blanc site, Opera says thatns an invalid address ( http://www.wordle.net/advanced ), and IE wont even open the .html.

I didn't write this app, but I had a look since lots of people are saying it doesn't work. I think part of the problem is that it uses a slightly older version of the replay parser.
I suggest trying the following: download the latest version of Ascend's Chat Log Editor (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=220138) and replace the Starcraft2.ReplayParser.dll with the one from that package.
If that doesn't work, please upload a zip some of your replays so that others can try it out and see what the problem is.

I replaced the dll-file, but it still gives me an empty chat.txt.
When trying to upload it to the wordle-site I also still get an empty page.

I have the same problem most people have, altought when I "analyse replays" it says that it analyzed 1650 replays ... but then the blank stuff.
Can anybody tell me what they use as their output folder? Maybe I have a problem there.

As I mentioned above, the program still doesn't work for me, so i followed xpaperclip's suggestion and uploaded a zip-file with 5 of my replays to mediafire.
It would be nice if some of you could just download them and try if it works for them. I really would like to know why it doesn't work for me D:

Could you guys say how much time it needs to generate a cloud? I've ben waiting for a few minutes but I don't think it takes that much time and probably I have a problem with this application.

Hey guys,
I updated the post with a new version. Ascend was very fast to update his replay-parsing dll after I reported some bugs, so here you go!

This version should fix the problem that some of you had. The tool now parses foreign text and also should be able to parse replays with foreign filenames. If there are still any problems, let me know. I would also appreciate if those of you who had the problem, would report if it is fixed now.

I hate to accuse you of trying to give everyone a virus, but I ran a virus scan and saw that I had 2 Trojans. When I viewed them in the list of programs being removed, it was from your program. I have been lurking here for quite a while and I did make an account finally just because this is the first time I have felt obligated to post. Would you care to explain why this might happen?

Have you never used your scan with a relatively unknown exe on your computer? Spyware detection programs do this kind of thing all the time.

I'm not sure it would detect it as a Trojan, though.

The only reason I can see it triggering as trojan or anything else is the way that the data is submitted to the wordle website. This is done in a very dirty (codewise) way, but as the program says, its the only way to submit the data without breaking the wordle TOS. Basically the tool generates a giant html file locally and then submits this over form data to wordle.
I can imagine trojans using similar ways to submit data back to wherever. The file is clean however. Since I can not figure out the issue with the non generating files, I will make the source code available soon and you can compile it for yourself, if you do not trust the executable as is.
Edit: Just for further checking I ran the very same file I uploaded through the online-scan on Jotti.org - nothing found on all popular scanners:

So, this is likely a false positive from your antivirus software caused by what I explained above.

Through some investigating with makoivis on the day9tv IRC, we've determined that it also requires the VC++ 2010 runtime for MpqLib to work.
If the latest version still generates an empty file, try downloading and installing this: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328 and giving it a shot.

Good to know, I'll try to remember to put some notes on the sc2replay-csharp project about it requiring VC++ 2010 runtime. I had no idea.
