Btw, I really hope MC loses early, so that HuK can finally get to play.

Sure about that? NesTea and Losira are his practice partners, you know. Losing to KawaiiRice on ICCup isn't that bad either, since KawaiiiRice's strongest matchup is TvZ (40-18 on international TLPD). Trading Alicia/Byun for Horror seems like a stupid decision, but if it pays off, I'm going to get points that most of you people in the top don't. If I wanna make top ten, I have to gamble. That's why I'm going with both Horror and Tassadar. If Horror loses, though... well, then I'm screwed. On one side you can't underestimate any zerg that practices with Nestea/Losira. On the other hand, if that was true then every team's average players should be rapidly gaining skill learning for the team's ace. Which is not true, very few players have seen sudden improvements like that. Why are August and Virus still not even close to being as good as Bomber? Why are hero not getting as good as HuK and MC? Not to mention a large number of players have practice partners outside of their own team. I don't think it factors in as much as people think it does. Horror has like 3000 ladder games, looks like he's getting most of his practice through ladder is another argument in this particular case. Could horror all kill FXO? Certainly there is the possibility, I just don't think it's likely enough to gamble for it. But then again I'm rank 1 so my main goal is to take as few risks as possible to maintain my lead, not to take risks to get ahead. Honestly between people that have MC or Bomber, or just IM as their team, I highly doubt I'll stay rank 1 next week. You're right, being on the same team as NesTea doesn't automatically make Horror good, but I can totally see him getting some great advice and such that will help him in his quest to all-kill FXO. IM is also a very good team... I can't imagine them having a sucky player on their roster. Plus, my golden rule is: always bet on the starting player vs FXO.
I'm ranked 30# ATM, and have IM as my team, so I could probably play safe too and still do pretty well. It's just that I lack the patience to do so. I want to make top ten NAO!

I've seen horror play and I really doubt he'll all kill. If he can get past qxc/oz yeah he probably has a good chance, but I think both those games will be 50/50, maybe less against oz tbh.

Yeah Im gonna stick with Alive instead of taking Horror, When NHSH all killed FXO their starter lost so I'm not sure to put him out.

I thought the same thing of Hack; the thing is that FXO never really seems to play to their potential in teamleague; either they choke or they do stupid cheeses when they should play straight up, so I think anyone has a chance. Byun for Horror for me, chose to trade Byun instead of Puzzle cause I think Puzzle's the better player; and Byun more of a TvT sniper. Traded Revival for Tassadar; just a question of starting player trades on that one.
edit- upon reflection did end up keeping Byun instead of taking Horror; Zenex isn't playing this week but in the next 2 weeks is playing NS HoSeo and Fou; I think that Zenex has a good chance of winning, but not in such a dominating fashion that Byun and Puzzle won't get some playtime.
double edit- considered trading away SlayerS but they really are hitting the easier part of their schedule- Prime, which is average but hasn't really done well, F. United which is Thorzain and Nani (go them!) but WeMade players also still play WC3 so idk...should be easier IMO, then oGs, which has a great lineup but never does well teamleague, and MVP, where they can pick up 3 solid wins before losing to DRG (may trade that last week)

Should I keep the STC or trade him for Horror? Incase of a MC all kill or something.
|
What's the situation with FXO and fOu in GSTL?
|
LOL at Killer's value on anti-team. Can trade for DRG or Bomber. Oh man. And I have no idea if I should even trade this week...
Also, I wouldn't keep TheSTC if I were you skrzmark.

any tips on any OGS or Prime member worth getting for cheap (under 14 pts)?

On July 21 2011 00:34 Cocomiel wrote: any tips on any OGS or Prime member worth getting for cheap (under 14 pts)?
oGs is a crapshoot because of how deep their roster is. MC is really the only dependable pick for this week and you definitely can't get him for cheap.
I see MC stomping Hannibal and then Polt or MKP sent out to snipe him. If you can find a player under 14 pts that you think might go out after that person (I think Polt will snipe MC and MKP will be reserved as ace, but it could be the other way around), they might be able to all-kill oGs from there but it's iffy.
oGs vs Prime was the one matchup that I avoided this week in fantasy. If you already have MC Polt or MKP, that's fine, but any of the lesser players probably won't get you anything. There are plenty of cheaper players on NsHoseo (Tassadar) or IM (Horror, Happy, Younghwa) that have a greater chance of getting kills.

I usually like to have at least 1 player on each match to make things a bit more interesting but you might be right on just skipping this one since I cant afford MC.

I accidently got myself stuck with Sheth because I forgot to trade him last week. TT
His value is so low now that I can only trade him for some of the other FXO players and he is my only zerg at the moment so my only available option is tgun. Not sure if I want to lose a point to get any of the FXO players anyway as there are no guarantees on any wins since there is just 1 match left.

leave sheth alone he can only lose you points if you trade him.. hes basically just a wasted roster spot but wont hurt you... use your trades elsewhere

That's true but I'm not sure how it's relevant to his post. He was looking for a sub-14 point player in the oGs/Prime matchup to trade for, but IMO MC is the only player in that match that has a good chance of netting a bunch of points. He can't afford MC, so it would probably be a better idea for him to pick up the cheaper players in the other matchups.
I could trade Bomber for MC, but I won't. While MC could all-kill Prime, I think either Polt or MKP will be able to take him down.

i usually don't put ace players in my roster because they somehow end up screwing up... only reliable one right now is DRG pretty much.

edit: you traded away DRG?! if I were you I would give bomber for MC in a heartbeat

I'm paying the price for choosing Losira as my captain. I traded Sage away last week, so now I don't have anyone that I can trade for Naniwa.
This week I traded Dream for Horror and Byun for Tassadar on my main team and Thorzain for Jjakji. My thought process for the 2 starts is obvious, but I figure that Jjaki's value in inflated from all-killing FXO and I don't think he'll do as well against ST, IM and Zenex. Thorzain on the other hand is the best Terran on his team and likely to at least play every game so I figure its not really safe having him on my anti-team.
I think if I'd understood more about how the game works I'd be in the top 50 now, but as it stands I'm hoping to finish in the top 100.
edit:If I had Bomber or Killer I would trade them for MC in a heartbeat. He has 4 games left and based on oGs's previous runs in the GSTL he is likely to play every game.

I had no choice but to dump DRG. I'm Rank 200-something and every single person above me has DRG. If I keep riding DRG everybody above me will get the same points and I'll stay 200-something. If I dump him and pick up somebody like MC or Bomber and they take off, and DRG slows down (all it would take is for the rest of MVP to pick up some slack) then I can catapult to the top of the rankings.
It's a big risk, but if I don't take it I remain in the mediocre middle of the pack. This way, I might drop down to the bottom, but it's the only way I'll get to the top. #300 is just as good as #18000

Hmm Is it wise to trade Ace for IMHappy? Both teams are playing so Ace could play but then again so could happy.

I originally made that exact trade but had to undo it so I could trade Bomber for MC. I think Ace has the potential to kill off the middle of NsHoseo's roster until Sage comes in. Happy, on the other hand, could come in and all-kill FXO if Horror gets eliminated, but so could Younghwa, Seed, or LosirA. You can be sure that only 1-2 IM members will actually play, so you're playing Roulette with whichever player IM sends out next. If you need to take the risk, Happy can pay off, but I think Ace is the safer bet.
