Meh, not too ironic. Its much different for MC.. for proof, try to imagine IdrA doing that ceremony. It just wouldn't happen. IdrA's bm is almost entirely responsive to other people... he doesn't actively act really cocky all the time.. hes actually pretty quiet....
Idra? Quiet? Does not compute. In LAN's, yes, but otherwise he is very vocal.
if by vocal you mean typing and therefore non-vocal, I concur.

Holy shit - that would have been EPIC !! Instead of doing the flip-off, had IdrA been one of the people calling for high fives in the crowd. MC didn't recognize him until that other guy pointed out IdrA, so he easily could have done to MC what Artosis did to him. That would have been hilarious.
That's gotta be amazing for MC, comes out of the booth at an American event and has hundreds of people chanting MC MC MC as he gives IdrA the premonition of doom...can't wait til tomorrow!

how are we supposed to open up esports to the newer and younger generations if we allow things like this? How would a kid's parents react when they see their child's idle flipping another player off. >.>

If you're serious, then he is no worse then alot of so called "children's idles". Many sports stars come out with rape charges, drug scandels, bar fights and all sorts, a bird is hardly the worst thing that could come out of a "children's idle" doing something wrong.
Side note the link seems to go to a MC Vs ThorZain post-game celebration not the MC/IdrA video, anyone got a new link or has it been taken down?

We'll if hes loosening games then he deserves such BM...
but in all seriousness, Idra usually wont say that out of a void. either you are ignoring the chat at the beginning of the game or there is a history between the players that you don't know about.

Wait, wait, so now a sign that signifies "fuck off" is worse than a sign that signifies "I will kill you/you're dead"... Talk about double standards...
If we're to talk about younger generations, neither act is appropriate.
Gotta love MC, I think it's awesome how into it he gets. That video made him look like a real sports star to me and made the crowd look like a real sports crowd. Very cool. I'm also really proud of how much the fans are cheering him on. I hope more koreans come to NA because of the amazing reception these guys have been given.

This was after his win against Thorzain. He went into the crowd for high-fives, and he taunted Idra with that throat slash.
Did I miss it, or does the link now only show MC high five'ing his fans and then doing the cut throat gesture? I didn't see Idra in it, and the description is tagged with Idra and MC but the description says "postmatch reaction MC vs Thorzain"...

True, and sorry for the typo too much sc
Anyway, in traditional sports, often there is media or public criticism, and it seems (to me at least) that the majority of the response is negative.
However in this case, it seems to be that there is more positive response than negative response.

True, neither act is "truly" appropriate, but the cut throat signal to me is a lot less... offensive? I think? As in, yeah it's like a death threat, but it's used so much in popular culture that it's "offensiveness" isn't so "offensive", if that makes sense... hope I explained that well? It's used commonly but also usually used in a sort of humorous way... you see it in cartoons, etc. This may differ from culture to culture though of course, but I'm sharing that based on what I've seen where I've lived before.

You do realize that idra is the guy who has called almost every other pro sc2 player, with select few exceptions, bad. The guy who at times seems to be convinced his superior mechanics should automatically win him games, and if they don't the game is flawed. The guy who has more legendary bm quotes than any other player.
Don't get me wrong, I really like idras play and for the most part the personality he brings to the scene. However claiming that he would be much less arrogant than mc is just silly. Sure I don't see idra performing ceremonies like mc but that's hardly the only way to express arrogance.
I'm surprised we didn't see a fight club right there. If I was in idrA's position, I'd probably throw a punch to MC for doing that.
I agree that neither act is appropriate but in the world of sports, thrash talk happens all the time. Who cares if either is less offensive, they both are. The problem is that in most American's eyes, the flip off would be a lot more offensive than the throat-slash.
Now I really hope idrA destroys him when they play. He better prepare a nasty build against MC.
Guys chill the fck out. MC has said in interviews over and over again that his cockiness and offensive gestures are just for show, to add some drama and excitement to esports. Idra the same, nice person in real life. these two dont really hate each other, its all on-screen drama.
