To win:
SeleCT:
SeleCT feels like ''forever not winner'' when it comes to MLG, just like Kiwikaki. But I like him like 10 times more, because you never really see anything from Kiwi outside of MLG I feel. Sup son better be winnin' Columbus! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
MorroW:
He is soooooooo good, so talented and so dedicated. Probably soon tied with Dimaga for best EU Zerg if he keeps it up. I really hope he places high in this and manages to get himself some spotlight, because he really does deserve it.
I really want to say IdrA too. I reeeeeeally do. But for the sake of E-Sports I will say:
NaNiwa:
NaNi has been slumping a little recently, but that is expected after a like 30-35 BoX win streak. I really hope that he steps up here because Him winning MLG again would hopefully build up a mentality of ''He's the player to beat!'' in the future. IMO SC2 needs a person like that. A person that seems one level above, that everyone wants to beat. There were plenty in Brood War and about time we get one now.
To lose:
The Koreans:
Too much of a coinflip imo. It could either pull people to Korea (which is bad) or attract more Koreans to come to the US/Europe (which is good, duh).
Team ROOT:
Way too overrated imo. Sure, they are /good players/ but in the absolute top they do not belong. I really hope they flop bigtime, because they gaining more fans and publicity is just bad.
CrunCher:
See Team ROOT.

I beg to differ! Did you even watch TSL3?
Thorzain 2-0 Fruitdealer Adelscott 2-0 MVP Thorzain 3-0 MC Have you heard of a factor called latency? at Copenhagen games LAN MC 4-0ed Kas Thorzain beat MC when he was in Europe for Dreamhack I believe, tired of people blaming lag for koreons losing. It's true though. Nestea has said he isn't even going to play in anymore online tourneys. Mvp and Nestea 100% only lost in TSL3 cause of lag. Hm, didn't Nestea play in the Star Wars Tournament? That was online... I guess you mean online tournaments on NA and EU.
It was after that. His ro64 super tournament interview is when he said he was done playing in online tourneys.

Uh, did YOU watch TSL3? ThorZain beat MC 3-2 In an incredably epic series. If you're gonna berate somebody with facts you might as well get them straight. It was super close is all I'm saying.

Can we please just make this a three you hope to win thread? I feel like the three you want to fail is not a positive thin to have a thread about.
To win: 1. Tyler- This kid is awesome, he has not been anywhere near his top form in SC2 and I desperately want him to show how good he is. 2. Machine- Poor Machine, Go get 'em Bryce you got this, I really want him to put up a good showing. 3. Painuser- His team got disbanded and he hasn't been playing well at all in NASL. He had a couple really solid showings last year and I think he is a cool guy that I want to get back in it.
To fail: I wouldn't wish failure on anybody, if I had to I would pick the Koreans, not because I don't like them I really like Losira, but I feel like they didn't earn their pool spots, and I want Koreans to realize that they can't just walk over any foreign LAN they show up at.
|
Win = Bomber, MMA, Select Lose = tyler, idra, destiny.
|
To win: Tyler, Tyler, Naniwa, Sheth, JF, Participant # 106, aka "Esports" LOL
To lose: Nobody really.. I guess GosiTerran that's about it...
|
Succeed:
Tyler-- he needs that win, and I want him to win so fucking badly.
Idra-- It has been a while since he won anything big, IPL is good and all, but I don't think its the "major tournament" as of yet.
MMA-- mini boxer gogogo.
Fail:
Well....I hope the koreans will provide us with some amazing games and then get absolutely destroyed. Just because I'm totally foreigner biased

To Win Tyler Huk Nony ;p
To Lose No one wouldn't mind seeing some Korean upsets not hating on any players at the moment

Note--There is a difference between expecting and hoping. We expect the koreans to kick ass and chew bubble gum, but I don't know that many of us are hoping that happens. Also note: To win doesn't necessarily mean the entire thing. Making it to the championship bracket is a win in most players books For me: To win! Destiny--Before Dallas on SOTG the pillars basically said hes good but not great and won't do well, he doesn't take practice very seriouslt, etc. Well he has now qualified for IPL2 (something Tyler failed to do) and I hope this gives him some confidence to tear up the open bracket. Hopefully this time he doesn't let any spires die from being off of creep... Tyler--This guy needs a win. Rumors of him quitting (which he denied on SOTG), and I dont want him to. Mostly because it would be bad for esports if he did, but either way. I want him to do well enough to reinvigorate his play and stop himself from feeling like he isn't performing to his own standards Catz-- I split him away from destiny to make it look like im not Root or zerg biased...but I am. He took a game off MC which means he can at least make a good showing against the best in the world and hes generally just a nice and funny guy. To fail! Gretorp--Dear god, the guy has the 16th seed for Dallas because 2 people decide not so show and then he goes something like 2-5 (by all means correct me, but I'm pretty confident it was a very losing record) and gets 16th seed again. Someone please just knock him out of the pool play already. I don't mind him as a person so much, but just based on results and continued "success" in MLG it makes me sad that the system works in a way where someone can have pretty bad results, but still get seeded. Major--Anyone who thinks they deserve to get paid based on non-existent results deserves to get a swift kick in the teeth. Couple that with the rumored/theorized hacking and consistent team jumping...While I would never hope bad things on Artosis, I want his first recruitment to end in a very early exit from Columbus. 1-2 Koreans--Everyone knows they are extremely good but I wouldn't mind watching a few of them get destroyed if for nothing more than to give a bit more confidence to the west. Even after the WC Team portion almost every western tournament is still a tournament without koreans, and therefore tier 2. Heres to hoping a few are put in their place this weekend. The only problem I see with this is if they do get destroyed everyone will just say " well MC, Nestea, MVP, and MKP weren't there so its not like you beat the best" but at least players like bomber, MMA, losira are considered among the top and can't forget the super secret unannounced but still known + Show Spoiler + who is sure to tear apart the open bracket. You don't find and grow new talent by not paying and accommodating it. Big time sports pay rookies very well if they have a lot of potential. If you see the same in a player SC 2 should be no different. Don't blame him for wanting some kind of financial support. That's fine Serpio but I believe the problem neo_sporin has with Gosi[Terran] isn't with him getting/wanting more sponsorship money but the way he publicly attacked former teams because he felt he deserved more after understanding terms full well just weeks before. You explained it a bit better than I did, thanks! He joined a team knowing (at least I would hope) what RooT was prepared to offer him, and a week later decided that wasn't good enough. Additionally with your point Serpio, I by all means agree about finding rookie talent and cultivating it. To my knowledge Destiny isn't making the big bucks from RooT as he is a newer player who doesn't play in team matches. His results are also about as strong as major's in that he doesn't really have any, but isn't throwing a fit about not getting the respect or pay he deserves. What is the point in a thread like that? If I say I hope Destiny, Idra, and Bomber don't win a single game, the thread will turn to shit in a matter of seconds. While I somewhat agree...I always hope for the best in people which is a silly thing to do on the internet I know. Also...even if the thread/OP were 3 hopes to win, theres still a high chance of it turning into a flame war anyways so why bother attempting to avoid it.
Please do not talk about team hopping or the conditions of teams without knowing first how a team operates and what is happening within. Every team has a inside circle of information that the public will never hear about unless released by a player. I know for a fact people do not understand everything within ROOT and everything within every Professional team. There is much that is hidden from the public because it is a need to know basis and not every needs to know. You do not know the reasons why he left, whether he did it when he was younger or not is not a issue, there were "factors" that caused him to make his decision. While we may not know these factors they are there to Juan. So please without knowing the situation do not talk about it. Thank you.

I'll be rooting for Select and to a lesser extent Morrow. JF still needs a lot more time before he can contend.
I have no ill will towards anyone. No point.

I just love his intensity at live events, dude earned his 4th place at Dallas fair and square.
Teamliquid guys
They need a win right now so bad.
To lose:
Can't think of any, sorry.

To win: Tyler- know he's been struggling lately Incontrol- same to a lesser degree one of the Koreans- I just want to see more amazing games and I think that if they get further into the tourney more will be produced.
Fail- none really, I don't wish bad luck upon anyone. I think that the best players will win so if I were to wish someone to fail it would be like wishing someone suddenly became bad or something, idk..

To Win: HuK, MMA, Incontrol (Also TLO and Grubby)

No Latency for Thorzain v MC.
They were both in Europe on the europe server at the time.

Hope to win; 1. DeMusliM - because he is a giant baller and I love his show with Rotti. Also because his play was insanely good before his accident, and from what I've seen afterwards he still plays like an insane mo-fo =D!
2. SeleCt - because I like his multitasking play, and I feel that he deserves a win after so much good play.
3. Moon - Warcraft 3 represent =D! No really, I feel he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. (I have no clue if Grubby is going there, but if he is I put him ahead of Moon just a bit, gotta root for your fellow countrymen!)
Hope to lose (Not really hate them, but just the ones who I want to win the least); 1. Destiny - I really really do not like this guy ;> I don't like his stream and that's basically all that I've seen from him. Might be jumping to conclusions a bit, but I don't know about that =).
2. Gretorp - I do like his casting and his stream a lot, but I don't feel that he deserves to have the 16th spot either.
3. MorroW - Don't really have an explanation for this, I've never liked his play. It used to be the most standard of standards, but lately he has been switching it up I have to agree.
