When SlayerS invited CyberSportsNetwork over to run part of the Clash of the Houses tournament, Cella took some time to give me a little tour around the house! :D Swanky!
(I promise to go easy on the motion blur in the next ones. ^^* Looked much different before I sent it off to TorcH to render...sorry if it makes you dizzy!)
Now THAT is what I imagined a pro gamer house to be like. Small kitchen though... I can imagine they rotate eating or have one or two people slave over it... you can't fit in there otherwise. ^^
On May 23 2011 04:36 Morale wrote: Didnt know Boxer actually lived there, wonder if his gf lives there aswell. Very nice house tho, the chairs looked mighty confy!
100% sure that his gf wouldn't live with 15 dicks around her all the time lmao
Anyways, cool to see the SlayerS house. It looks like a really nice progaming house, and the little pink bike and the vast amounts of Pocari Sweat make me laugh. Also, it's cool to see Alicia and MMA sleep so close to BoxeR, absorbing his skills during sleep through osmosis.
Sweet music. It looks sort of like they've moved a few bunkbeds and multiple pcs into Nal_Ra's apartment from oldboy. To be expected though. At least it doesn't look all gloomy and creepy like I remember the [name] house. Kind of nice actually considering.
The SlayerS guys seem to be pretty cool \o/ And yeah, didn't expect Boxer to sleep in a shared room, or is it just temporary when he's in the house? because i remember a vid of him and his gf's having an apartment
Great video! I think Slayers is an awesome team, they are definitely one of my favorites. I would love to live in an apartment with 10 other nerd ballers.

yup they just seem to mesh a lot and follow boxer's lead.
so far there's been team house videos of IM, Prime, SlayerS, GOM, ST, oGs, and HoSeo (might have missed 1)
think the most impressive has been GOM's and IM's house in terms of layout and space
what matters most though isn't how how posh a team house looks or seems, it's about the environment and so far SlayerS seems to have the best one with their 2 GSTL championships

Yeah, guessing he only sleeps there in preparation of important upcoming matches when hardcore practice is required. They probably still share that apartment from "Wings" as a couple.
Possibly other players in that shared bedroom also live off-site primarily.
I think we should view this playerhouse as "an office with staying over capability".
Looks really nice, but seems a bit packed and the bedrooms appear a bit small to me. But whatever since i dont know the "standart" gaming house. Now the rooms in the swedish house of tlo and co appears sooo huge
The SlayerS house is smaller compared to other SC2 pro houses we've seen already. Although it's small, it's clean, organized, and looks comfortable. Nice to see Cella having a more private room than the others, lol.
I personnaly think BoxeR lives there. He has a appartment in Wings of Liberty, but I think he leaved it to be on the same level as the other guys. And Gayeon/Jessica does not live here because she has a child, she has her own appartment (where BoxeR might go sometimes).
I'm surprised Boxer sleeps in the same conditions as the rest of his team considering he's the founder of the team. I guess he wants to kinda be just another player?
More thought into the footage please, when you just kind of skim through it, it doesn't look really good and the blur was getting annoying. Thanks anyway though
Very nice house. They got some pretty sweet chairs ^^ Seems like they got a life time supply of Pocari Sweat as well lol
Slayers is pretty much my favorite team, you got Boxer (no need to explain), Cella who streams and interacts with the community and overall funny guy, then you got all these up and coming beast players and they're two time GSTL champs!
If I was Boxer I would be living in a penthouse! I can't believe he lives in there with his team. Where the hell does he go to have sex with his girlfriend?
I doubt BoxeR is living there. He probably just have a bunk bed to sleep in if they have longer practice sections or something.
The houses we have seen so far this is my favorite. It looked good and clean stylish, and the view seems to be nice. And SlayerS seems to be a nice group. I want Artosis to film this house tho, so we can see some gaming.

BoxeR has his own place with his fiance. You can see it on the BoxeR's Wings show.
On May 23 2011 04:38 SirIchigo wrote: Lol Coach Cella with the baller room all to himself. Very nice video.
Did you notice he has 2 beds. Wonder whats the second one for.
there are 12 beds (including 2 in cella's room, and 12 guys posing in the last part of the vid, so SOMEBODY IS SLEEPING WITH CELLA!
Very nice view from their living room, at night you could really relax your eyes by looking out the window, sad no balcony though.
Korean teamhouses are so small, but im sure if they take the rent money and rent a place in Indonesia it would be as big as FXO's teamhouse. This is probably one of the reasons why the teamliquid guys are returning home, Koreans can take a brake from the teamhouses by staying with their family on holidays, while the foreigners are stuck there without any other options >.<
Great vid looking forward to the other teamhouses, thank you Cyber Sport Network fighting
Cella is such a baller! I remember when he had to ask for donation for hamburger on his stream.. now he's living like a king. He deserves it though, nicest guy EVAR
Interesting, I remember this very apartment actually from another video (when it was still completely empty), I think it might have been the part 1 @ documentary about Boxer (Boxer's Wings?).
But yea I thought Boxer would have his own place, or at least the single room instead of Cella...wow :o
Do they all have to use the Marauder Keyboard because thats all I saw. Nice looking house, I "lol'd" at the top 3 slayers players sleeping in the same room :D

Well they're sponsored by Razer so I'm sure they all use it.
Ahhh that's so cool! I kind of wish I lived in something like that. But then again, I think that many people so close together might get kind of old after only a few months.
Sort of sad to see that boxer has such tight quarters being the legend he is and all. Surely he must be able to afford better, but chooses not to? - Ah apparently he has his own place. What's that bed for then? Maybe the nights he practices really late?
On May 23 2011 06:29 Mithriel wrote: Wow amazing team house! Would love to see more of it in a more relaxed tempo with some interviews maybe. They are by far my favorite team
Ya just wait for Artosis to do the tour. Apparently they didn't feel it was worth showing us what Cella was saying for over half the video and just fast forwarded through it.
Great video and the house looks great (pretty similar to the setup at the oGs house which i guess is to be expected). Boxer and Cella though just makes it awesome
I'm guessing that Boxer doesn't live there full time. But anytime they talk about him practicing hard, he's probably busting ass like the rest of the team.

I'm speaking in the sense that if ONE person were to live there it would be really nice, as opposed to an entire team sharing it. ;/
Pretty cool to see the houses. I think that would be an awesome house for 5 people and have an adjoining apartment for 5 more people to have moderate living conditions. Those living quarters are smalls as balls. Nice place but way too small

You ignorant fool. You have no idea what population density is like in Korea. You simply can't get a mansion there. For what you can get in Korea, it is an awesome apartment with great view. Gratz to SlayerS.

Yeah, biggest letdown ever. I felt a bit sick watching the vid. Too fast for me.
i think ppl are failing realize how expensive houses are in korea its mostly apartment because of small size of land that korea has so dont compared to western housings the house is amazing in korean standard

We do appreciate the feedback, and in the future we will definitely take this into account when rendering/editing the video. Hope you guys enjoy!

People will compare it to other locations, it's the only way that makes sense unless you HAVE to live in korea. Because you can look at some hut in Sudan and say oh wow that's great for Sudan standards but no one wants to live there that is a foreigner.

Actually a lot of Prohouses have really large industrial rice cookers or just 2 of them since most of the players are like growing teenage boys who eat ALOT.
That is such a sick house. Definitely one of the nicer ones.

It isn't really all that amazing. You should check out the SC house tours Artosis did, almost every team had much better conditions.
But it could certainly be worse. Look at the Startale house, those poor guys didn't even have beds to sleep on and barely any walking space.
actually just saying about sleeping on the floor, in south korea and other asian countries the floor is heated and its pretty common to see houses with no beds because everyone sleeps on the floor. even hotels are like that there. anyway was great to see the house and the SlayerS team, im looking forward to hte clash of the houses! way to go
I like how they're all just standing around and talking. Definately looks like a team and not just a bunch of gamers playing under same tag. Maybe that's their secret!
On May 23 2011 10:09 The Final Boss wrote: That's such a nice looking house. That would be the coolest place to live. No wonder SlayerS does so well as a team haha.
EDIT: As cool as that house is, I'd hate to live in one of those because where on earth would you take a girl back to your place?
I cant really call it a nice team house because there are (as always though) 6 people sleeping in a room smaller than the room im sleeping in -.- But ye i guess if the team spirit etc. is nice it can still be fun to live there for a while. I just wonder where did all the money from Intel go? Wasnt there an announcement that Intel would sponsor Slayers with about 500k $ a year? I dont think such an apartment costs that much ;p
People who have not lived in East Asia always respond with total shock at the living conditions. East Asia's population is far denser than North American or even Western Europe. so much so that it is customary for offspring to live together with their parents sometimes their entire lives.
The concept of a family in Asia is much different than the North American Dad+Mom+kids. In fact around the world, it is the North American concept of family that is abnormal (due to the insane amount of space we have). Often multiple generations live under the same roof especially the lower middle class and the working class in Asia. My cousin recently bought a new home in HK that is about 1/3 the size of the SlayerS team house. Under this roof him and his wife along with their child and a maid live there.
Certainly a team house is more crowded than your average East Asian flat but the idea of multiple bunk beds and sleeping in the sharing same room with multiple people is normal. These people would have grown up used to living in small spaces together.

You'd be surprised how much a decent apartment costs in some areas of Seoul/Inchon.
I hope artosis still does one of his house tours, they're a little more personal and the interviews are usually pretty insightful. Nice job nonetheless!
StarTale's house is actually very cozy. I very much enjoyed the roll-away beds on the heated floor in December! Also, a few of them have very attractive girlfriends that come to the house and cook delicious dinner. ;D
(if you're outside the US and want to watch that, there's a Justin.TV link in the description)
Really liked this one, ranks up there with the artosis ones for me so thanks for putting it out there for us to enjoy :D Is that drink the same one that sponsores Flash cause I always see him chugging down some beverage before/after every game? Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. Neat to see BoxeR stays there at least sometimes.
The gamer room is pretty neat, but a bit too packed for my state. Not claustrophobia inducing or anything, but I doubt I could play comfortably packed in like that. Then again I guess you get used to it.
Best SC2 pro-house so far. And mad respect to Boxer to sleep in with these juniors, I think that what make them practice hard and improve so much.
With all the money he earned in SC1, I think Boxer has an apartment elsewhere. But to set an example to new players, he just live with like any of them would.
Cella got a big room cos it will help to build his status as a coach. Since hes young of age, he needs something so players will listen to him.

no, it sponsors skt1, boxer's old team. flash just drinks it because it gives him maphacks.

Yes, we did take footage and interviews at the TSL house as well! They were very accommodating...even made us dinner beforehand!
Nice! I've been looking all over trying to find some footage for the TSL house but haven't had any luck with it so far. Good to know you guys covered them!

This is why Slayers keep winning - they all are basking in the presence of the Emperor
He was dearly missed at DreamHack Stockholm Invitational, hundreds of people had been looking forward to seeing him!
But a question; How do they keep the rooms from overheating with all those computers/people? My room overheats if I just have myself+computer on game mod
Every time I see those bunk beds with the "side walls" I am reminded of submarines and their sleeping quarters. Sure the progamers have the advantage of not sleeping in 4 hour shifts, but otherwise ...
The practice room looks best compared to the others I have seen so far and hopefully the other teams will adjust to that kind of relaxed and comfortable atmosphere there ...
ugh, Team SlayerS is great but this house is just meh. Way too small to be a proper teamhouse, all korean teamhouses are small but this1 is by far the smallest. I have no idea how people can live like that

Different cultures I guess, nearly all Korean urban accommodation I have seen is that small.
That view from gaming area looks bloody amazing. 1. Who is that girl ? 2. Why got coach bigger bed than Boxer ? 3. Have I seen right Boxer snack in sponsor area ? Does Boxer have his own snack brand ?
Wow, looking at the slayers house compared to the other houses that I saw Artosis view on his youtube channel. I gotta say this must be the nicest house yet. No wonder they do so well that place is awesome.
Is it just me or is this the nicest gaming house in Korea yet? Seems very clean and modern compared to a lot of the other gaming houses we've seen over there. No doubt because Boxer's team has more money behind it lol.
I feel the house looked nice but it definitely felt smaller. That said, you can't get a good feel for the size compared to the ones Artosis did since he didn't do any post production on his videos. When you're fast forward walking down hallways, you lose all spatial awareness.
Pretty cool though. Cella and Jessica are awesome. You kinda don't really get that human element in the Artosis videos, the players all kinda hide from him and pretend he's not there(apart from the MVP duchenne smile of amazingness).
Great video~!
If i had a wish, it would be for the fast forwarded bits to be only sped up a little. Like 50% or something, just so i can still map out in my mind the houseplan. Not that i'm trying to break in or anything, of course not.
<_<
Man Jessica and Cella crack me up. The whole SlayerS family dynamic seems pretty neat.
I actually like Artosis's tours more, he doesen't put music covering most of everything going on, he gets more footage of the people actually playing, you hear a lot more talking, etc. He also tries to get interviews with the coach and manager.
It kind of makes sense to me. As the coach, you're expected to support others full-time and basically give up on your own training. So while the others can still make a few extra bucks through small online tournaments, being the coach you give up on that.

I'm pretty sure he generally lives off-site still, you're just reiterating your earlier guess, I think he splits time, sometimes staying on site and sometimes staying at his apartment with Ga-Yeon.
While I love the slayers guys, this almost makes me feel like they're a sort of trophy team. Good lodgings, great staff (boxer, cella, obv a decent cleaning staff) and a (comparatively) rich as all getout team sponsor in jessica.
That's not exactly bad, but it's hard to think of them as the underdogs compared to say IM any more, they're the guys with the flashy car and careless good looks and in any story you want the hardworking dude with his trash bucket gear and indomitable spirit to win the day. I'm, afraid narrative causality will catch up with them
