he didn't say just because of money.
He says he doesn't see benefit and witih how the house sound shitty right now (he talked about how stephano did an interview where he was almost in tears with how bad the house was for him) as well as how he said other people said they aren't liking the house because it's just not a good environment.
He also said he did it for 5 years and he was getting sick of it, if he wanted to do something not gaming it was near impossible to do in korea because of the language barrier.
Then he mentioned money as well. He had many reasons and they were all legitimate reasons.
Oh, And Stephano crying "roll eyes ", please don't when hear about poor Stephano and his whining. Oh, You have a problem with the language barrier? Like us American always say" learn the language". EG_TL is wasting our time doing TL. I'm done watching them.
Don't be dumb. Communicating in your third language with someone speaking their second isn't easy. And saying 'just learn a fourth language!' is ridiculous. How long has Artosis been in South Korea? Is he fluent? Nope, and none of the other foreigners who've spent significant time in Korea.
So, he had no clue it was going be like that ? Also, why can't they just find other foreigners to help him adjust or what about a live in translator ? And i'm sorry, But his "Poor Stephano " act about how all his other friends are having it easy with midterms but he have to deal with bad case of homesickness is not working for me. You make thousands of dollars playing a game and you get to spend months in Korea. Learning from the best. " First World Problems , Bro !!"
I thougt u were done with it why are you still talking about it?!?!!?!
Honestly, If I were Idra or Demuslim, I'm not sure I would feel safe going to S. Korea with all of the tension with the North.....
Obviously money has something to do with it, and the fact that the team isn't doing well. I think you compile all of that and it is pretty easy to understand why Korea has been delayed.

I think NA or Europe is just fine to train on, if you have great mechanics you should be able to do pretty well. Sure korea is tougher, but I think having value in practice partners you can talk with is potentialy more valuable.

Good point. However, I was speaking to the tension between North and South Korea, apparently there is some military/political posturing going on.

North Korea is a joke. Even South Korea know that.

Of course an American would say something so silly....

Joke? I don't think hostilities are likely and I don't think SK would lose a war with NK, but if real hostilities did break out, Seoul is the last place I'd want to be.

That is not the issue and you are simplifying things to the benefit of your argument. Also, the argument “your playing video games for money, how can you be unhappy,” is beyond week. That’s like asking rich people how they could be depressed. It is overly simplistic and does not counter any of the points Idra provided.
Living in foreign countries where you don’t speak the language is a very disorienting experience and can be very stressful. They made whole movies about how it is like living on an alien world(see Lost in Translation) and there are a number of books about “culture shock”. Just getting a cab and traveling can be a stressful event where you end up in the wrong place, where you cant read the signs or find your way back. It is a real issue that is not made up and people who play SC2 are not immune to it. That combined with the stress of practicing for 12 hours straight may be pushing the foreign players in Korea beyond their limits.
If you read the recent interview from Coach Park, he says that the Korean Team houses are not set up to take advantage of the foreign players talent or assist them with practicing. The issue isn’t that the foreign players don’t want to practice. It is that the Korean Team houses are not set up to help players that acclimate to a new country and environment while also practicing at the team house. This isn’t really surprising, since SC2 is a mental game and isolation can lead to depression, regardless of what you are doing.
What is happening now is that teams are realizing that you can’t just send any player to Korea to practice in a team house. The team also needs to make sure that player can take advantage of the team house. This is the job of coaches and I think Coach Park is likely to set the standard on how to train foreign players in Korea.
hots has done the unthinkable, it got me back into sc2!
great show from wheat and crew, it almost feels funny watching a dedicated sc2 show again. I play a lot of hots now instead of solo q dota 2, I still play dota2 more when I have friends/teammates on but it's all hots all the time when I'm the only one around.
I think blizzard still has a ways to go for me to respect sc2 the way I feel it should have been done from a game design perspective but hots has improved and moved towards something I really like. The MLG games were exciting and I feel blizzard is as close as they've ever been to getting 'it' right. It's also been a bit refreshing to play a game where it's entirely up to me to win or lose, no teammates to blame or feed.
Ironic thing is idra isn't going to korea because of his fans in a sense. Idra has realized that he does not need to get better and can never win another game in his career and his popularity will never wane, nor will he lose many fans. His stream numbers will always remain strong because people will always tune in to see him rage and stuff.
Can't say I blame him for realizing this fact and capitalizing on this since the freedom of an american team house is better than a korean house. The living conditions are better due to the size of the house and there's no strict schedule to follow, so you can do what you want. That can't be disputed. It's not conducive to being the best, but Idra's goal is no longer to be the best, but to just take it easy and make as much money as he can now. From a strictly financial perspective, Idra isn't wrong since pro gaming has a limited shelf life, so it's best to make as much money as you can.

the hard-on you have for idra is amazing--just looking at your previous posts.

to be fair, Greg is a pretty attractive fella.
So attractive his hard-on reaches him in Arizona all the way from Canada.
He also really missed the entire point of his argument, perhaps his erection knocked over his speakers and they were broken while he was explaining the real reason he didn't want to go to Korea.
I do have to agree with his hesitation to going back to Korea as well. Poor house, currently bad team, new game, better chances in foreign events, ability to keep his streaming schedule that he is contracted for are all good reasons to stay in the US for now. Though I really didn't find the part where he said he no longer wanted to be the best a bit offsetting, mainly because he isn't an Incontrol (no offense) he is supposed to have a gamers drive.
