Koreans or anybody would be very standoffish if you're not even trying understand the culture and try learn some words . In that interview all he learned was a couple of bad words and bitch about the coach. Also , He said nobody talk to him and nobody was looking to go out. Please, are you really telling me 20 year old kids don't know how to go out for a drink or two ? I believe the problem is with Stephano on why he was so culture shocked. The problems with the coach is another story. I can see him acting this way if he was an American (And that's come from a American ) but I was expecting more from a Frenchman.

I agree with you, but you shouldn't expect a Frenchman to get accustomed to vastly different cultures. In Japan there's even a name for the culture shock Japanese tourist experience when in France. Google Paris Syndrome.
The French are even quite different from most European cultures, imho, coming from a Norwegian.
