On May 09 2012 09:09 di3alot wrote: rly the "N" word are you kidding me ? the word nigger is only harmful in the context of racism. whats the problem with sayn nigger ? wtf. happened to you guys. the "N" word... is this maybe an american thing? where you don't say the word you just refer to them with the F word the N word. on such a controversial subject this is the thing you didnt agree with? :D im glad we are having this discussion again because its clearly something that people still want to talk about but i think its sad that just because everyone on the show has a job in esports (therefore a vested interest in not rocking the boat) and therefore looks at it from the same point of view that talking about 'the other side' as whiners or immature doesnt get called out as unhelpful to the topic. my opinion is that if this offends people they have every right to complain to the sponsors, lets not forget it was the players who first opened the door of going to the sponsors. it was the players who asked us to email the sponsors saying when things were great, this is the logical next step to that. and then in the case of not wanting to get people fired? so what, the fact is theres so many people out there who could replace destiny or to a lesser extent orb in a heartbeat their value is very shallow. the viewer shouldnt concern themselves with the sob story of people losing their jobs. if you do stupid shit you deserve what comes to you, thats the way of the world and if you dont like it it really says something about who needs to grow up. i also felt most of the arguments presented by the hosts were entirely emotional and implied that we should see the famous community members as friends. taking stuff we dont like because we have to protect them, and accepting stuff because we are all in this together. but when you are selling t-shirts and event passes with an eye to turning a profit you dont get that luxury anymore. starcraft wants to become a business then it needs to deal with consumers getting their own way. if enough people dont like something then thats how its gonna be if you want to be making money in this space, asking people to give them another chance is unreasonable. their value to people decides what happens to them, nothing more. it also seemed odd that the hosts mentioned that the sponsors have no idea about the communities they are investing in. if they are handing over thousands of dollars on a blind guess thats really crazy for them and you cant blame the overzealous community member for opening their eyes a tiny bit. im quite shocked that they apparently put 0 effort in to knowing about where their money goes. if they knew more about the starcraft community as a whole they wouldnt be completely freaked by emails about destiny because they would already see the big picture and we wouldnt have to be wetting our panties about them pulling their money.
