Actually your view is ridiculous because you assume that "being paid" by a company is exactly the same thing no matter what the situation. Prize-money is not "being paid" by the company. More often than not the company in question didn't even provide the prizemoney to begin with, the sponsors did. Those sponsors can actually be competitors of the player's sponsors. The idea that they are "being paid" by the company is absurd.
You can make an argument that Team X players/employees would not be able to provide a fully objective and neutral view of an issue involving Team X. You cannot make an argument that people who merely participate in Event Y are biased towards Event Y.
I think you did not understand my point. Read my older post for it, you hopped in in the middle of the discussion. The last point i make was a quote to you. means not a player, a caster who is paid for his work and dont get price-money. Its clear that the player is biased in a different way than the caster. He is biased to his team and his sponsors and his friends. And that is 100% FINE for me.
Its not a newspaper where you expect independent from everyone. But the host - the guy who ask the questions - should be independent! I also dont have a problem with an "EG-show". I know i will hear eg site of any story on this show. This does not mean in any way i think wheat/incontorl/painuser/idra do a bad job or do a bad show.
Im not one of this guys who cry :"they are all so biased". Sure they are thats normal, thats life. I say: "keep there biased in mind when you listen to them." Any critical viewer should do this all the time. I dont understand why so many people have a problem with this point. Perhaps they are so trapped in their mindset that they lie to themself over this simple fact or they just misunderstood me.
I give you an example; your game reviews on youtube. You do them total independent and you do them really good. When it comes to sc2 tournaments you just can not be independent.
PS: it would be nice if we had -in addition- an Sc2 show that is hosted by independent journalists, where they dont play softball.

My free Soundcloud account can only host one episode at a time. I can keep seeding the old torrents though, if that helps.
This week's mp3 is cut short by about 5 minutes. Details are at the blog I created to host links to the audio files: http://itg-audio.blogspot.com.
Hopefully this will at least give you guys something to put in your RSS aggregators so you don't have to grub through the thread every week. Let me know if there's any way to improve it, or if you're able to host old shows.

The problem is that the scene is to small for that. The issue has been discussed on Live on Three and other shows. The amount of time required independently report on the scene, at the quality level the fans demand, is close to that of a full time job. But the problem is that most of the people with the skill necessary to fill that role also have to make money some how. Even people in that industry who love Starcraft 2, such as Brad Shoemaker from Giant Bomb, have to report on other things that take up the majority of their time. So they have two options, do the job as a passion project or find someone to pay for it. But after that we are talking about hours of work with little or no return beyond enjoying that other people enjoy your work.
And people who harp on this "bias vs objective" issue in SC2 are silly anyways. Of course players and casters are not going to say things to endanger their jobs. That is really dumb. I don't when I am work. We have two rules at my firm A: Don't lie, and B: if you mess up, fess up. The same applies for most of the SC2 scene. The fanbase is way to involved and informed to allow any group to be deceptive or withhold key information for that long. Clearly, there are things that they cannot say, but they know enough to say "I can't really talk about that right now."
But some people do not understand that you trust someone on who they are and their history, not who is paying them at the time. People will always get paid by someone, they need to eat. DJ Wheat has a long history in the scene and he has proven himself to be trustworthy and professional.

none of us has any affiliation with mlg, we dont get paid. we hype it cuz its an awesome event. we hyped ipl3 just as hard cuz it was also really good. i dont hype european events because i dont enjoy them and dont think theyre as good in a lot of important ways.
Because you're biased. DreamHack treats their players a ton better than MLG/IPL - on the same time as they give out free HD streams while MLG charges $20 just to watch their event in at all, which alone are on a lower production value than DreamHack.

How would you know if dreamhack treats their players a lot better then mlg/ipl? I am curious how you know that lol.

Your just biased. You want to think that DreamHack treats their players better than MLG/IPL because MGL charged for the PPV and you did not want to pay.

You are talking out of your ass. Can we just have people that have no actual working knowledge of this situation shut the fuck up so maybe a reasonable conversation could appear?

No, I did buy the PPV. I just think it's funny how DreamHack can treat their players tenfolds better then MLG while still not charging for it. IMO, Dreamhack is win-win, MLG loss-loss.
As to the people who asks how I would know that, it's just what I've heard from interviews etc.. Thorzain said he had to play for countless of hours without a chair, I call that horrible treatment of players, but that's just me.

Thorzain: "We were only allowed to sleep for 6hours this night, soo that's pretty bad".
Hotbid: "You have to play like 6 hours in a row"
Thorzain: "I'm used to playing for many hours in a row, but this time it's soo annoying because we have to stand up all the time because there's no seats".

So yes, he did.
-_-;;
Really?
He's obviously saying there's no where to sit in between games. You know - the standard MLG complaint of there being no seats for spectators?

Well, don't worry about it because you probably are dumb when making a comment like that. Why would people look at an entire country based on 1 guys opinions? Do you find all americans dumb just because there's Bill O'reilly lives in that country? No.
A) I'm not sure you understand how Hot_bid interviews works... B) He was referencing the lack of chairs in the audience (the You must spawn additional chairs is a highly accurate meme) not in the playing area. MLG doesn't have players standing there leaning over the keyboard......
