*Before you read, here are the following reactions that I have omitted.
1. Questions regarding where they can watch the VOD's. 2. Questions regarding what time the event was. 3. Other questions that add no value to the topic

Also to koreans
Crazy is close to the way we say "sick" So it's a compliment.
"Didn't expect anything else from MC"
"MC!!!"
"Great ones win by L L W W W"
"Didn't expect anything else from MC!!"
"MC made another $15,000... Must be nice"
"3 Wins after 2 losses... What's up?"
"If MC get results at this pace, you'll be making bank"
"By proxying the last game he may make lots of haters in TL, but what else can you do in a PvP? You should blame the loser not the winner... two 4 gates and 1 proxy gates" [Seriously, after coming back from the bans guys, read this written by Boe.]
"Monster MC lolol, truly the best"
"Expected MC!"
"To see a build seen during BETA in the final game lol"
"To take 2 games off of MC. White-Ra is crazy. He's over 30 too.."
"MC lost 3 times to White-Ra sad.." [MC lost to White-Ra previously on GSL WC]
'Idra hahahahha, Everytime I watch Idra i feel sorry for him...... hahahaha. Didn't he meet another korean and lose in the semis before?"
"A foreigner winning a tournament seems not too long"
"Idra, why do you always shiver your teeth and be nervous when facing a korean? I don't know how many times it's been doing well till meeting a korean and losing..... -_____-"
"White-Ra is seriously crazy crazy lol. He has another job besides pro-gaming"
"I think the most successful player is White-Ra. He's over 30 yet producing great and consistent results"
"After looking at MC's results. In GSL 14 wins 1 loss.. Yet he already lost 3 times to White-Ra... I honestly thought foreigners were weaker but White-Ra with his age and another job.. He is seriously admirable."
"I believe the final showed some diverse PvP games"
"It was worth it to stay up and watch it. Idra doing a fucking 6pool made me laugh so hard... Also MC playing seriously by going his standard 4 gate after the 2 losses was great"
"I give a big applaud to White-Ra for taking 2 games off of MC in PvP"
"MC is the next emperor"
"Wow White-Ra was a beat against Jinro. MC on the other hand is a monster..."
"To take 2 games off of MC, White-Ra is good"
"I was scared MC would lose.."
|
Ty for these, always nice to read what they have to say. Pretty much agree with the koreans too, especially on the account that foreigners are closer than they think to koreans, especially if the old 30+ year old with another job and a wife can take more games off MC than any gsl protosses yet

THanks a bunch <3<3<3 the comments seem really nice :D

In the left corner we have the Western communities calling MC bullshit and cheesy and that he didn't deserve to win, in the right corner we have the Korean Netizens, calling him that he played well and deserved to win.
Guess that is where the difference is.

Hehe, thx for translations. It is nice to see that they respect White-Ra, he truly is a baller

Awesome to hear Korean netizens complimenting White-Ra, he's such a beast player and nice person

:> You mean we have fanboys hurt that whitera lost in the fashion he did. I am not gonna lie, I was rooting for him after his recent performances as well but some people forget these guys are professionals and are trying to win. Its the bandwagoners!
May seem like an extreme example but if a goalie is known to be solid low, is it cheese to go top shelf? No it's a nice shot.. therefore gg mc.
Thanks for the kr reactions, always fun to read.

Nice to see they respect White-Ra. ANd yeah, he's damn good.

"Deserving" to win... such a silly, thoroughly western (i.e. Judeo-Christian) notion. Winners win. What else can one say?
White-Ra is my hero. MC won. White-Ra is still my hero.

Yeah, "deserve" is a very strange concept if you think about it. You earn something, but you never deserve anything except according to your own moral standards. If one supposedly "deserves" to win, why play the match at all?

It is a subjective notion, like so many other subjective notions in the world. Until I see you logically bash all subjective notions I dont see why you should even care for such a small one

Great translations.
Did most Korean Sc2 fans transition from BW? This might explain the difference in mentality (as opposed, say, to the cesspool that is NASL chat).

White-Ra deserves the respect and I'm glad they give him that. Idra on the other hand....Did they not like him in Korea or something, I feel like most of them are mocking him haha...

WhiteRa may not have won, but he gained the respect of Korea everywhere. And in the end isn't that what truly matters?
No. WhiteRa should have at least got a bit of cash for his efforts. The stupid prize pool (winner takes all) ruins what was an otherwise amazing tournament. But yeah, reading the Korean response is always nice.

It was only a matter of time before the Koreans recognized the greatness that is White-Ra. The beast from the west.

deserve is meaningless, it comes from the age of entitlement
earned is the only worthwhile word. people earn respect, they don't deserve it.
White-Ra earned respect due to his long history and recent success

I'm really disappointed that the international fans whined enough about the proxy gates that MC felt the need to justify himself on Twitter. Really bad impression from our community imo.

I hope noone translated a lot of TL replies to playxp after MC won some of those were plain embarrassing such as calling MC a downright cheat etc

the game morrow took looked so awesome at the end hehe that base really was a deathtrap, though early aggression from the toss on crossfire was a bit strange.
Whitera is really my favorite toss for a long time now, to bad we got no round of drinks at the dreamhack after the finals though . But the last game was lovely i guess no one would have expected a two gate proxy in the final match, high risk but really payed off. (if he had scouted it he could have blocked one gate with buildings i belief XD.)

I thought it was a well established fact that all of the progamers play to win. When you play to win, you try to win. I cannot understand why anyone hates on MC :/

I agree with this 100%, I dont understand why he has so many haters on TL. Always nice to see the korean fans reaction to western tournaments though, thanks for the translate. As for why Idra isnt popular in korea, going around discrediting their top players such as July and calling people faggot, yeah thats real hard to comprehend.

Indeed, we encourage Koreans to attend foreign tournaments and insult them when they win? I love White Ra, but MC won fair and square and I still love them both as players.

I believe most Koreans are capable of at least rudimentary reading comprehension in English, even though they struggle with speaking. If anyone at playxp really wanted to know what us non-foreigners thought, I'm pretty sure they would just open the LR thread.

MC deserved it (since he won, he deserved to win), and played the last game perfectly to counter WhiteRa's slightly economically greedy no zealot build. I really don't see the problem here. It was extremely intelligent and was obviously very well executed.

MC deserved that honestly. If he did 3 of 4 proxy gates, fair enough. But that proxy gate on that last map was pure genius. I personally don't like MC in general but he did take a fair and square win at Dreamhack.

wow, MC really didn't need to explain himself, he deserves the win fair and square, some ppl here should really think of changing their attitudes, the way things are going this will turn into a damn Halo community with angry 12 year olds swearing all the time. Seriously as much as i wanted white ra to win and was cheering for him don't discredit MCs achievements ppl. Good to see koreans more civilized than most of the forumers here.

Plus the prize ceremony just showed Whitera standing among all the other players. If there is a link to confirm either way that would be good. ALTHOUGH I Whitera and MC are both automatically in the main DH event, which is a positive.

I understand that some of them might be annoyed because they cheered for White-ra, but to go harassing MC on twitter (that's what happened as I gather ?) is so disappointing and shameful. Why would you do that, even if I really hated someone I would have never harass that person. Especially since MC is really, from all information available, very nice guy.
Really I can kind of understand posts in LR thread, people are blowing off steam, but the rest is just reinforcing gap between communities that otherwise would be shrinking and discouraging Koreans from participating in foreign events.

MC should know this by now, as the top SC2 progamer Seeing as he was very surprised by the positive attitude and attention of fans at DH event it seems this harassment is the other side of that and not present in Korea to such a degree. It would seem that foreign fans are more emotional and vocal which might have positive side, but also the ugly one.

Nice read. Good to see that White-Ra receives some well deserved respect. I agree that it's unfortunate the situation that occurred after MC's win (explaining himself over twitter), but that's just how people are over the internet. While we may want to see the more conventional macro games, pro-gamers play to win and by whatever means necessary.
